4 Horsemen

I think many of us want Ballard to pull the trigger on a QB early and like many mock drafts (almost all of them) the team never drafts as expected. Heck we don't even know who the coach will be.

Here are 4 different (plus 1 extra) directions Ballard can go in the first round if he locks Irsay out of the War Room.

1. Peter Skoronski OT/G Northwestern 6'4 315lbs

Draft profile: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Peter-Skoronski-OL-Northwestern

Pros for team: versatility

2 rookie contracts on the offensive line

Could be LT most likely a Guard

Pros for future QB

Protection

Cohesive

Comp: Quenton Nelson

Draft logic/strategy

Line em up(Chiefs, Eagles, Lions)

We all know of coverage sacks but the opposite occurs as well (we seen this in the Eagles game). CBs can only cover for so long. Having time to go through progressions and dual pulling guards can cause havoc for most defenses.

Fan * off meter: 2 out of 5 stars (We learned from Andrew Luck. As unorthodox as picking a possible Guard here we have done it and been successful before)

Peter Skoronski could come in and play LT. Selecting a swing tackle in the 3rd round isn't a total lost if you don't believe in Raimann. If you do believe in him plugging Skoronski in at guard could provide a dominate right side.

2. Isaiah Foskey DE Notre Dame 265lbs

Draft profile: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Isaiah-Foskey-DL-NotreDame

Pro for team:

young pass rushers rotation

Special Teams

Utilizing DeForest Buckner talents

Pros for QB

Blue print similar to Seahawks

Defense to take pressure off QB

Comp: Danielle Hunter

Draft logic/strategy

Big D energy (Eagles, 49ers, Jets)

The Jets have a deep rotation on the line that pays off towards the end of games when linemen are fatigue. The 49ers are able to shut out offenses in the 2nd half due to adjustments and pressure on opposing QBs.

Fan * off meter: 4 out of 5 stars (Drafting a guy in the 1st round to be apart of a rotation would * off most to all with QBs still available)

Pass rusher isn't a need for this team but becoming deep at this position can help this defense stay at the top of the league. Injuries and fatigue are real so having 3 young guys makes a little sense.

3. Jordan Adison WR USC 6ft 170lbs

Draft profile: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Jordan-Addison-WR-Pittsburgh

Pros for team:

filling out WR corp

More explosive offense

Possible true no.1

Pros for QB

More offensive weapons

Makes overall job easier

Comp: Darnell Mooney

Draft logic/strategy

Airing it out (Steelers,Commanders, Cardinals)

With the exception of the Cardinals all 3 of these teams have a 1A and 1B at WR. This makes it hard for teams to target the number one.

Fan * off meter: 3 out of 5 stars( traditionally we haven't considered this body type as a no.1 WR and will have flashbacks of Phillip Dorsett)

Our WRs has been a pleasant surprise this year. Depending on if we keep Parris Campbell or not this selection can make us deep by dropping everyone except MP down a slot (AP 3rd option, Dulin or Campbell 4th).

4. Kelee Ringo CB Georgia 6'2 210lbs

Draft profile: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Kelee-Ringo-DB-Georgia

Pro for teams:

Potential lock down CB

Potential replacement for Gilmore

Pro for QB

Great defense to practice against

Potentially more opportunities from turnovers

Comp: Byron Jones

Draft logic/strategy

Cuffing Season (Ravens, Dolphins)

Building the defense back to front has it advantages. Blitzes and just being able to contain multiple WRs can put a vice grip on a pass happy league.

Fan * off meter: 3 out of 5 stars (Fans will be watching for other players picked after to say we could of had....)

Kenny Mo and Isaiah Rodgers doesn't have the traditional body type to hold up as a boundary CB. Rodgers has shown he is good during games but still have lapses from time to time. Ringo could split time and eventually take over for Gilmore when contract is up.

WILD CARD

Jahmyr Gibbs RB Alabama 5'11 200lbs

Draft profile: https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Jahmyr-Gibbs-RB-GeorgiaTech

Pros for team:

keep RBs both fresh

Playoff football

Take pressure off JT

Pros for future QB:

A great running game

Pass Protection

Comp: Christian McCaffrey

Draft logic/strategy

Dueling Backs (Browns, Cowboys, Green Bay)

This strategy has worked with the Browns. Taking pressure off the rotating QBs they have had. Ezekiel Elliott contract is tolerable because of Tony Pollard rookie contract and the overall production out of the RB group. This team can get back to RTDB mantra.

Fan * off meter: 5 out 5 stars (All hell will break loose)

We already have a top 3 RB in the NFL and he was drafted in the 2nd round. Picking another in the 1st round would have many calling for Ballard job.

I think national media will kill Ballard for any of these picks (looking at positions not so much names). How would you feel if he doesn't pick a QB in the 1st round? Will you tune in for day 2?
