As well as our defense and ST played it’s difficult not to come away with the feeling the Chiefs beat themselves.

They did really but how many times can we have said that about the Colts?! You need a bit of luck sometimes beating the real top teams but I take your point in that the win covered up the sins.......which lets be honest mainly lies with sorting that OL out and keeping Ryan upright.

He talked trash when he sacked him. He then continued talking trash while Ryan got up and was walking away right call.

Not to mention the officials called Speed for running his mouth too.  Officials called it both ways.  Colts took advantage of their chance.  KC did not.

Still want Reich gone! Still not happy with Ryan, he’s hurt us more than he’s helped us. Defense played with such heart today, and it wouldn’t surprise me if their motivation didn’t come from Leonard on the sideline pumped up all game long for them. Pierce was excellent today; we may have ourselves a baller in him. Glad we had a kicker that didn’t miss his kicks today!

Credit where credit is do.  The Colts dominated this game.  They had two bad mistakes by Ryan that lead to easy KC TDs other wise the defense held KC to three points.

This is why I said they weren’t going to fire Frank after the Jags game it was just too soon.  The Colts are now a Jags loss away from being in 1st place in the division.

You can’t say enough good things about the defense and special teams this week.  I know everyone said nothing went right last week but one of the few bright spots I saw was the special teams unit which is often overlooked but make no mistake they were difference in the game today.

The Colts front four finally showed up on defense.  Paye just keeps getting better.  Dayo was making some nice plays.  I am not his biggest fan but Yannick lived in KC’s backfield.  Buckner might not show up in the box score but he was drawing triple teams to free the others up.  Ironically the only quiet one today was Grover who has been a one man wrecking crew through two weeks.

The secondary played lights out.  Moore played much better.  The young safeties played well.  I think the Colts have something in both rookie safeties.  Then the vet sealed it with the pick.  Also Gilmore showed why the Colts went out and got him.  Also Rodgers played on defense and played well.

Franklin keeps playing well in place of Leonard.  Bobby O is getting better.  He had some issues but also made some big plays (he is the one who sniffed out that fake field goal).

Frank had some odd calls and he’s going too.  Still his coaches, especially on special teams and defense, had a heck of a game plan.  Gus rebounded in a big way from last week.  Bubba might be the best coach on this team.

Offense is still a work in progress.  I think Romo did a good job highlighting some of the Colts issues.  Ryan is just not comfortable yet and it’s impacting everything.  Still he did the little things that Wentz didn’t which is why they got him.  Ryan has to clean up the fumbles.  That’s killing them but aside from that he stayed calm and didn’t make the back breaking turnover and just keep chugging away.  Someone questioned Ryan not talking to guys last week but after every drive he was there talking to the guys keeping them in the game.  Then at the end of the game he came out and lead an 8 minute game winning drive and looked to finally be starting to click in this offense.

The line is having the communication issues that Romo was talking about but still too much free rushers.  Then at the end of the game they held up on some key plays.  Pinter is the weak point though and teams have figured it out.  Once Raimann is healthy I’d try someone else at right guard, maybe Pryor, and out Raimann at LT.

The rookies!  Woods, Alec, and Thomas all played huge roles today.

Credit where credit is due today.  Granson had a handful of plays today on offense and special teams and he did well on all of them.  He’s been a forum whipping boy so I hope people give him credit for his performance this week.

Most of all this game gives you hope.  I questioned this teams heart after last week and they showed a lot of it today.  Still a lot to clean up and it was ugly but winning ugly is sure a lot better than losing ugly like last week or tying ugly like week one.

The chiefs left 4 points off the board with easy kicks. Game should have been 21-21 going into OT but thanks to the Chiefs for somehow getting a kicker worse than Specs

This was not a win. This was a really good Chiefs team beating themselves.

I posted this in another thread yesterday that we need to stop relying on good teams screwing up, so we get wins, and here we are again. Nailed it!!

14 points off Chiefs mistakes. Muff punt and Jones penalty.

Again, through 3 weeks this team should have realistically only scored 9 points. That's it. Thanks to the Texans prevent D and the Chiefs mistakes we have now scored a meager 13 pts a game average.

I don't care if I get bashed here.

Unless this current team starts getting lambasted, nothing will change in Indianapolis. Year after year of terrible football, and possibly win division in the worst division in football.

How does this help?

Everybody should send the Chiefs a big thank you card :sarcasm:

To be fair, the Chiefs scored 14 points off of Ryan’s fumbles.

Good effort by the defense and STs. The offense was pretty much trash. Positives are Pittman did well, Woods is a nice red zone target, and Pierce had a good game. Much better than I was expecting to see. Let's see if we can put back-to-back efforts together next week against the Titans.

Tempering my expectations for now.

I get it's part of the game and normally I would be happy that the Colts win, however I'm just so over this team as it currently is being managed. All of these guys are pros and are capable of beating anyone week to week, but the direction of this team is what I'm not happy with. I just want the Reich, pencil in the old QB, let's not spend money on skill positions, Colt's vision; to go down in flames.

Crazy how physical Pierce is. Him and Pittman are so much alike. Pittman just took that ball out of the defenses hand. Once pierce really gets going he has more speed then PItt so I am excited to see where his ceiling is.

Reich did get the TE involved more today which is nice. What woods did today will get him more playing time in the red zone.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda.  Still = a loss.  Colts made some key plays.  KC did not.

Yeah funny how that same poster probably didn't say the Texans got a gift when that really should have been a win - still a tie and that tie will be like a win when the division is figured out. Bottomline we beat KC who was 2nd in the power rankings. I didn't see 1 person in here pick us, I did though The Simpsons GIF by KiwiGo (KGO)

I liked what I saw from young guys , I wish drew wasn’t injured and it could be woods and drew time and granson showed up today

Right, we have to give them some time. Pierce looked good. Woods was a weapon in the redzone.

Patience people.

Btw Colts fans. The building was at least 30% Chiefs fans in a home opener. Thats not ok. I get that its been frustrating, but cmon.

Some really need to go back and watch the game and listen to Romo.  He did a great job explaining what’s been going on in the Colts offense and at one point said it’s going to take about six weeks to come together.  Sound familiar?  That’s what happened with Luck’s first year with Reich, same with Rivers, and same with Wentz.  That’s why musical QBs is not good.

Ballard can’t let this win cloud his judgment and this oline needs fixed. Whether that’s a trade or starting dries at RG we will see. RB and WR were not picking up blitzes. That is either on communication or something else. I would have to go back but I think Pryor did ok and held his own for the most part. Most of the issues were picking up blitzes or in the middle.

Bradley- excellent game plan

Receivers made a good number of tough catches and held.

I've lost the narrative here.  When the game plan is bad...that's on Frank.  But when its good, its because of Brady.

Please explain to me in more detail how that works so that I know which band wagon to ride.

What about the Colts mistakes? Bad play calling (minus the last drive) by Frank. A bogus 2 point conversion call they gifted the Chiefs. POOR O-Line play, 2 fumbles by Matt Ryan. We did everything we could to give the game away too. It was ugly on both sides tbh. Sometimes games are won like that. I get your disdain for the Franchise as we have some SERIOUS concerns, but it’s ok to celebrate a team win too. Just my :2c:

Well, they also got 2 pts they shouldn’t have had, so…

I don’t think Chiefs fans have a valid gripe on the unsportsmanlike call against Jones.  Taunting right in front of an official is just stupid.

But I do think they have a valid gripe on the no-call facemask on Mahomes.  That was an obvious facemask.  Should’ve been off-setting penalties.

mahomes also had ahold of our guys face mask. It was a mutual face masking

I thought they picked up the flag because Mahomes had the tackler by the facemask as well. So kind of let the two facemasks cancel each other out without the need for flags, then go with the other foul (I think it was holding).

I'm not knocking you're hope or happiness. I'm just kind of caught in this vortex of emotion with this team. Today was terrible for both teams you are right. I think the win for us just hides the fact that we really do stink and the loss for the chiefs will be just looked at as a hiccup.

@NewColtsFan, you are a good friend of mine but what do think now? I told you we would win. I was surprised Tennessee won, they barley won but congrats to them. They are still 1-2. That tie we had on opening day is better than their loss on opening day. As of now if we beat Tennessee next week we are in the drivers seat regarding the AFC South. Texans lost today, lets see what the Jags do. Leonard may be back next week, that will be a huge boost.

The kid has some talent and showed it today. Hes got speed AND size, which is really nice to have. I loved the catch where he went up and got it. His hands are better than he showed the first week.

And Jelani Woods made 2 really nice plays in the redzone.

The opportunities are gonna be there for these 2 guys so we will see what they got.
