DeAngelo Hall's Week 3 "Bold Prediction" on NFL.com

Recommended Posts

"It's been a rough start for the Colts, but their fortunes turn this week against the undefeated Chiefs. Indy's defense records three takeaways against Patrick Mahomes and Co., while Jonathan Taylor helps get the offense on track with 150 scrimmage yards and three scores. The Colts get their first win of the season in style!"

Hoping Hall's prediction comes true.

Whether or not it does - I will be in the crowd - LOUD AND PROUD!!

I would LOVE to see this happen. Not only for the obvious reasons but to hear/see all of the fans and Media that have bad mouthed the Colts eat crow.

Keep Mahomes on the bench, avoid errors and execute.
This team is better than they have been playing. GO COLTS!!!

Lol they just make up whatever they think is the craziest "bold prediction" and what will get the most clicks. I mean if were quoting the main stream media now, I read an article earlier that called Matt Ryan and the Colts the #1 biggest disappointment of the season so far. Also NFL's power rankings have us at 27, another at 32 lol/

I actually could see this happen. Some teams match up well against other certain teams. Wasn't it the Jets the Colts only win back in a season 30 years ago or so? Teams are built differently, and those differences end up in wild upsets almost every week. You guessed it, I am catching up with DeAngelo. :) Pour me another.

I didn't go so far as to make the prediction, but just before the season started I told my wife "It would be just like the Colts to lose to Houston and Jacksonville, then beat the Chiefs."

The thing is, I think we actually have a chance beat the Chiefs! But maybe that's just the kool-aid talking.

I mean that’s exactly the kind of streaky nonsense we’ve seen under frank, I don’t even think it’s a bold prediction at this point. More like a sad reminder that we can beat one of the best looking teams in the league literally 7 days after getting shut out by one of the worst, and there’s no rhyme or reason for any of it, and you never know what to expect in any given week.

:dunno:

I'm kind of hoping we get blown out, again.

I'm tired of this type of playing year after year. Have a terrible offseason, come out flat on opening day and lose or tie..Ha!!, stink for month, lose to bad teams, beat good ones. The train fully needs to come off the rails this year for entire team to get righted. To me the last 6 years have been wasted seasons so what's one more?

The direction of this team sucks. A win here or there isn't going to change that. It's time to blow this up for real.

It's sad but the merry-go-round of mediocrity and hoping that other teams screw up for us to win, has to stop

isn't this the guy that DeAndre Hopkings absolutely murdered with his route running in practice? Pretty much ended his career. I guess thats why he is giving awful opinions in media now.

A lot of former players who go into media try to make a quick name for themselves.  They see the big contracts given out to top talent.   They want some of that.   So they try to be different, try to get attention by making predictions that get attention.   Predicting the Chiefs beating the Colts doesn’t get any attention.   But predicting the Colts pull an upset over the Chiefs gets noticed,  especially if Indy shocks with an upset.   As a media guy, I see this all the time in every media outlet.

Oh if we win, I am going to laugh at some of the posters. Hardly nobody in here gives us a chance.

I think we have a chance, no homerism involved and I pick the upset. I picked it back in 2019 when we had Brissett and people laughed. We usually play them well for some reason. We are not as bad as some think, I can see Taylor going for 100 and Matt not turning the ball over. Regardless we will still win the division because Jacksonville isn't sweeping us and Tennessee is a dumpster fire. 8-8-1 may win it. Once you get in, everyone is 0-0.

Seriously?    You’re predicting we’re going to win the South?    After the start we’ve had?    And you think there’s no homerism involved in that?     Wow……

Sorry,  but I just don’t see it.    And I really hope you’re right and I’m wrong.

I will be first in line for you to laugh at bc I think we lose our next three. I’ve there with you that Matt Ryan is a good QB for this team and we are capable of being a top 3 team in our conference. I also have not wavered that Reich is our biggest Xfactor and think he cost this team 2-4 wins a year. I try to be objective as much as I can as a Colts fan. Something just seems off right now and I’m guessing there are major internal discussions that will eventually surface.

Is it really that far fetched to think we can win the division at this point?

Only team we are behind(1/2 game) is "the worst team" in the NFL and tied with "the 2nd worst team".

Ok to question it happening, but was it really worth a "seriously and a Wow"? Just doesn't seem to be that far outside the realm of possibilities, to me.

But why make it personal?

People are entitled to their opinions. Doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree.

Nothing personal, but if people want to trash the team saying = Matt is old and has a noodle arm, Frank needs to be fired, Ballard is overrated, our O.Line stinks. Then I will have my day if we win. Problem with people around here and 1 reason why I wanted to leave is, they seem to get a kick of trashing our team every time we lose and want to fire everyone. Like you said everyone is entitled to their opinion so I have mine and still say we win the division = that is my opinion.

I doubt any fan gets a kick out of trashing their team, but if they did, So what? I don’t get why some people here are so hung up on that, it’s not a personal attack on you.

But peoples reaction to the teams’ performance has to be viewed in context. The average GM’s tenure with a team is 6 years. This is Ballard’s sixth season here and we have gotten nowhere during his tenure. If anything we see we see exactly the same tendencies every year. This venting is not about two games, it’s about SIX YEARS.

I’m fine with you having your opinion, but you seem to get PO’d about others’ and I don’t get it…

I'll bet you a steak dinner we win the division. Yeah it looks bad now but it is early. I hate the fact we aren't 2-0 like I wanted and predicted but everyone else in the division stinks except for the Jags and they are average. Tennessee will be 0-3 after tomorrow. Raiders will clean their clock being that it is at Vegas and they need to win.

I find it strange how those same posters don't critique the team more and more upset that we are playing bad. It just seems like some in here just pile on this team. I am not PO'd at all, I am over it. When we win the Division, this will be me in the end The Simpsons GIF by KiwiGo (KGO)- it's marathon and not a sprint. I just can't stand coming to a Colts site which I have loved for 7 years and reading posts that bash this team over and over. It gets old. Reason why I just took a 4 day break from it. If I wanted to read that stuff about our team I would go to a Patriots or Titans site.

It is not about people being critical about the team that bothers me, I was after last week, it is the fire everyone, we suck, season is over nonsense that does. You know how ridiculous that sounds after 2 weeks, it sounds like I am around a bunch of 7th graders.

Again. People are venting. Tired of seeing slow starts and us falling on our face at Jags.

While I agree it’s only week 2 it just feels different this year. Watching the games our guys are playing with no heart.

And sure we could get going and win some games but after six years 8-8-1 just isn’t good enough in this division. That’s my opinion. Even if we win the south with a 8-8-1 record it’s still bye-bye time to this FO and coaching staff - unless we make a DEEP playoff run.

I get it, Venting is good. Believe me I was pee'd off after that game last week. The slow starts do suck. So I get it but just some of the posts go overboard in here IMO, but hey everyone is entitled to their opinion. So if we win tomorrow, why can't I come back and laugh at so-called posters that say Matt, Frank, Ballard, and our team sucks? It really isn't personal but if people want to put the team down, then when we win those same people should praise them. Guess what, if we win, a lot of the same people won't even post and will disappear. I have seen it for 7 years. I remember back in 2019 when Brissett won at KC, about 20 people that were bashing the team all week, saying Brissett sucked disappeared. There is a fine line between being an optimist, being skeptical - which is fine because I admit we haven't played well, and being a Troll. I know the difference in my old age.

I would love for the Colts to win tomorrow, but not betting any money on it. At least they play in Indy, and we won't have to hear the annoying Chiefs' chant they have at Arrowhead.

It is strange that some posters who criticize the Colts don't return when the Colts win. Then there are those who find something to criticize when everything goes well.

I'm not saying you can't, I'm asking you why you feel the need to? Are they laughing at you because we've sucked these last two games?

I agree some people are just trolling here, but it's not 30 posters. Or even 10. By far the majority are just not buying what the Colts are selling.

I think JVille is a clearly better team.  Much better.   And I think Tenn is likely a better team.   For me, CBE’s argument is about the record and not about the performance.   And I was deeply shocked by what I saw in the game with the Jags.   I can’t say we've got a decent chance until I see the colts look like a decent NFL team.   And I think we’re a LONG way from that.

I think we’ll all know more in three weeks.  And again, I hope I’m wrong.

I actually think the Jags and Texans are better than most think. Well coached.

Performance was putrid, no doubt. Past performances in Jacksonville and years of slow starts won't allow me to over react to early. Team usually finds their stride and turns it around.

Not really going into tomorrow's game expecting a win. Hopefully just a sign of life. Is the type of game we would pull out a win though.

3 weeks from now(after this week):

Colts (0-1-1) Chiefs, Titans, @Broncos, Jags

Jags (1-1) @Chargers, @Eagles, Texans, @Colts

Texans (0-1-1) @Bears, Chargers, @Jags, Bye

Titans (0-2) Raiders, @Colts, @Commanders, Bye

We need to go 2-2 over these next 4 games and we will be right where we need to be. Will out us at 2-3-1.

Can see Jags losing both their next 2 games.(1-3 going into Texans game)

Texans maybe 1-1, decent chance at 0-2(1-2-1 or 0-3-1 heading into Jags game)

Then Jags and Texans play each other, so will keep the division still tight.

Titans, I could see lose the next 3 games, or win them.(3-2 if they win them all)

So unless the Colts are setting at like 1-4-1 or 0-5-1, I think we will be in the same spot in 3 more weeks. Still would be within a game or 2 of division even in this scenario, and a history of flipping the switch about that time of season.

Well….  To be clear,  I don’t think whoever wins the South will be very good.   Maybe just 9 wins good.   But I think J’Ville is MUCH better than the Colts.  We didn’t just lose to them,  they dominated us.  And Tenn lost to Buffalo after losing to an improved NYG team by 1.   So I’d expect them to be better than the Colts.

I expect the Colts to get better, but only because we can’t get worse.   What we showed last Sunday can’t easily be explained.   When we’ve started slow in other years before, at least we’ve been competitive,  we weren’t getting dominated.    Sunday we got crushed as if J’Ville was Buffalo.   Tomorrow I’d almost be happy if I see improvement and we can be competitive.   But my expectations are now very low.

The Colts need to step up.  Can they?   I don’t know?   I’m now highly skeptical.  This isn’t about the Houston game.   This is all about the J’Ville game.   For me it was THAT bad.

Now you see?    There you go being all logical and reasonable!   I’m reminded of why I like you so much!   Good post.

Again, I hope I’m wrong and those who still believe can enjoy a “Told you so!” type of day.   I’d really be happy if that happened.

But I need to see us be decent and competitive.   I’d take that level of improvement.   What I saw Sunday barely looked professional, so I think we’re a long, long way off.   And I don’t know if Irsay will be patient while we try to improve, and become respectable?

Beyond Frank, I now have serious questions about the entire coaching staff — both sides of the ball.  We weren’t just bad on offense last Sunday.   Only Bubba would escape my anger.

I’ll be at my local sports bar.   Hoping to see the Colts I once knew.    Hoping…..

I am not an I told you soer, not that you were saying I was, there are plenty here though. Personally irritates me.

Yep, just looking for some reconfirmation against Chiefs, that we can hang with anyone on any given day(except @Jags). Win or lose just so me something.

No one escapes the anger, even Bubba. SPT have had their own issues.

Missed kicks(FGs, KO)

Roughing punters

Muffed Punts

Bad kick coverage
