Kyler Murray Gets $$$$$

The guarantee was obviously way less that what Watson got but north of 40 per year is the new normal. Lamar Jackson will get a few more dollars just to get the “highest paid” tag as well. 5 year 232 or something like that with a large 60 or 65% being guaranteed.

Not sold on Murray

I am not either. He isn't worth the money IMO. He is now the 2nd highest paid QB per year. He passed Watson = 46.1 Mill to 46 Mill lmao . Only Rodgers makes more per year. I am not sure Murray is even a top 12 QB going into 2022? He is right on that cusp. I would rather have Matt Ryan just for the next 2 years, I would take Carr and Dak over him for the long haul as well. I named those 3 QB's because they are QB's that could rank anywhere from 10-12. If Murray is getting this kind of money, Lamar Jackson who has won an MVP and is 37-12 should break the bank lmao .

10 QB's that are definitely better than Murray are:

- Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, Allen, R.Wilson, Stafford, Burrow, Herbert, Jackson, Watson - if he plays. I don't even think that is arguable. Then you have Matt Ryan, Dak, and Carr to boot. I currently have Matt Ryan in my top 10 because I don't think Watson is going to play this year. If Watson does play I think it will be just for half of a season. I am sensing an 8 game suspension going by what CBS sports radio is saying.

I agree but the alternatives are not attractive. Take a flyer on a rookie? They won't draft high enough to get anyone likely as good as Murray or even close. God knows there won't be any vets worth pinning their hopes on any time soon.

When you have to put a clause in the contract that he agrees to study 4 hours outside of the complex, that tells you all you need to know about his work ethic. Peyton studied all the time, Luck as well.

Clearly this isn’t normal and the fact they had to do that says a lot about how hard he works or don’t work.

The Cardinals way overpaid for a not top ten QB, but your point is a good one. Why wouldn't they wait another year before extending. The original contract had a 5th year option, correct?

Not sure but it's not like he'd get cheaper next year...and I heard rumor of a holdout if it wasn't this year. Basically if they feel he's the guy, they needed to make it happen. Sometimes teams have to pay more than they feel or generally seems a reasonable price.

He was going to hold out if this didn’t get done by camp.

Murray has to spend four hours each week studying film and can’t have a TV on in the background or play video games while doing his homework.

The fact that they had to write that into his contract......

Then take it all back and watch Murry weasel around it during the press conference . Good luck Arizona.

For the market I think he is going to be looked at as a bargain in the next few seasons.

The QB money is getting crazy!

A one billion dollar contract is in the not-too-distant future. In professional sports, media money takes a large chunk of the news relating to sports. Sad..

The last two years he started out well, then fell apart. Lack of film study, while his opponents spent countless hours in the film room  He's has a unbendable ego, which works fine if you have a killer work ethic. He doesn't, he just has the ego part. Unless he grows up, he's going to bust bad in the coming years.
