I've got 24 on O, 25 on D, 3 on STs,
I think it's likely we add a FA or sign someone on cutdown day, so one or two of the below will be shed.

  • Offense - 24
    • QB1 - Ryan
      • QB2 - Foles
    • RB1 - Taylor
      • APB/RB2/R - Hines
      • RB3 - Lindsay
    • WR1 - Pittman
    • WR2 - Campbell
    • WR3 - Dulin
      • WR4 - Pierce
      • WR5 and 6 - Strachan and Patmon, although wouldn't be shocked if somebody else steals a spot
    • TE1 - Alie-Cox
      • TE2 - Woods
      • HB/TE3 Hybrid - Granson
      •  TE4 - Ogletree (just not sure they carry 4 TEs).
    • LT - Pryor
    • LG - Nelson
    • C - Ryan Kelly
    • RG - Pinter
    • RT - Smith
      • Swing T - Raimann
      • Swing T - D Kelly
      • Swing G/C - Fries
      • OL9 - O'Donnell or Murray
  • Defense - 25
    • RDE - Ngakoue (starting LEO)
    • LDE - Paye (starting Big End, but Gus said he can play LEO too, so I'd assume LEO/RDE backup)
      • DE3 - Dayo (guessing he'll start on run downs at RDE and come out for Ngakoue on passing downs)
      • DE4 - Lewis (Lewis could do the ame as Dayo. And either could come in as interior DL on passing downs)
    • NT - Stewart
      • NT2 - Williams (not 100% on this, but just don't see anyone else as a truer NT option)
    • 3T - Buckner
      • DT4 - Johnson
      • DT5 Brooks
    • WILL - Leonard
    • MIKE - Oke
      • LB3 - Franklin
      • LB4 - Speed
      • LB5 - Domann (getting reps and good press)
      • SAM/LEO Hybrid (maybe) - Banogu (Gus played a SAM pass rusher at times in the past. Not sure he'll do it this season)
    • NB - Moore (if still here...)
    • CB1 - Gilmore
    • CB2/R - Rodgers
      • CB4 - Facyson
      • CB5 - Chesley
    • SS - Blackmon
    • FS - McLeod
      • S3 - Willis
      • S4 - Cross
      • Dime/S/LB Hybrid - Weatherford
  • ST - 3
    • PK - Blankenship
    • P+H - Sanchez

Nice list, same with @CR91....quick questions.

What are your thoughts on Van Demark in the mix at OL9?

Why Rodgers over Facyson at CB2?

ST - 3

PS O (8)- Ehlinger QB, C.J Verdell RB, Wesley French C,  Ryan Van Demark T, Jordan Murray T, Demichael Harris WR,  M. Strachan-WR,Jacobson TE

PS D (8) - Bryan Cox DE,Chris Williams DT , R.J.Mcintosh DT,Brandon King-LB,James Skalski LB, Dallis Flowers CB, T Brown CB,Watts -S

Exempt - Marcel Dabo

I think Domann and Weatherford both make the cut pushing KINg to the ps., Scott Patchan my big surprise think he beats out BB,cox and Cline for a spot. So 3 UDFA but all 3 were thought to be drafted and fell for different reasons. Think Tell makes it due to position flexibility.

Think we see Hines more at WR so keep 4 rb's. Patmon over Strachan  as big WR depth and Coutee over D Harris as an extra slot in case Campbell gets banged up.

Think team has seen enough of BB (Though hope im wrong and he somehow comes to life).  Think the Carter O'Donnell era is coming to an end

What are your thoughts on Van Demark in the mix at OL9?

Why Rodgers over Facyson at CB2?

Those last OL spots are really all coinflips or hot takes at this point. OTAs and MC don't have any contact, and simply heavy on install for guys down the depth chart. So in short, just a gut feel at this point as we have heard zero about any of them.

Van Demark, I like as a prospect. He got a decent signing bonus for a UDFA, but that's (175k) not something that will mean a lot if he's not one of the top 10ish OL. I think at minimum he'll be kept on the PS if no body else grabs him simply because of his amount of games started. Uconn isn't exactly good at FB, but he's got nice traits. We won't really know about him until he gets a full contact DE across from him later.

Murray is another that's interesting. Small college prior to Canadian ball, and intriguing size. O'Donnell similar but has a year in the system. I think all 3 are decent depth prospects that may develop with patience. We're just not going to know much until they get some reporting during and TC and PT in preseason. I'd also say, that our tackle depth in general has gotten better (Pryor, D Kelly, Raimann), so might be harder to keep a spot this season.

Rodgers over Facyson at this point simply because he's getting great reviews on a regular basis so far. And that's in weeks that were heavy on new scheme install. Facyson was already in Gus's scheme, so he should have an advantage. Facyson got some good mentions during OTA/MC too, but not to the level of Rodgers. Still early though, and neither would surprise me. Depending on how things fall with Moore, I'd hope Rodgers got a strong look at NB should Moore get traded or sit out.

I think Coutee and Tell will crack the starting lineup. Everything else looks pretty good

No reason to see Chris Williams or Anthony Chesley on the roster, they are JAGs, even amongst UDFAs. Would rather give Andrew Ogletree a chance, same with Ben Banogu.

Eric Johnson can play both 1-tech and 3-tech.

We need depth on the d-line

Thanks, I appreciate your response and respect your opinion.  I agree that OT depth is the best I have seen in years.  Murray and O'Donnell seem to have a little more experience over Van Demark, though, as you stated, he might not last long on the Practice Squad.

I also agree that Facyson should have a leg up due to being in the system.  I love Rodgers, though I am concerned if he can hold up outside due to his lack of size.  If Kenny gets moved, I could see him taking over the slot and being damn good at it!

It's just really hard to project OLs unless they're from big time P5 programs, taken high in the draft, or they get PT. And some guys just develop at different rates. But overall, like the T depth and prospects, and hope perhaps some might be able to slide in.

I've always been concerned about IR's height, but he's got traits that help him overcome the deficiency. Not saying he won't have issues with bigger WRs, but I think he's earned a shot to prove all of us wrong. And while Facyson has a year of experience with Gus's system, just not sure his ceiling is all that high. He's had 4 years in the league, and has remained mostly a depth rotational guy. Rodger's time in the league looks like steady development and improvement year over year, at least to me.

After Stewart and Buckner, Eric Johnson can play 1-tech and 3-tech, Curtis Brooks can play 3-tech.

And that's not counting Dayo and Tyquan Lewis who can slide into DT on passing downs.

I don't even know if Tyquan will be back to start the season. It was a really bad injury.

I feel like if there was a pivotal moment in our season it was that interception by Tyquan. In that moment where he went down and dropped the ball, our entire season felt different after that.

Johnson played 3, 4, and 5 tech in college.

His weight profile might suggest 1 tech if we're in a bind, but doubt we see him as backup 1T. At least not this year.

I'd suggest watching his tape from the SR Bowl (he was not invited to the combine). He's picked up weight since then, but clearly looked more like a 3T or Big End.

Especially in that game because he got the pick and we were getting the ball back up 14 and then the turf snips him
