@LV-FrontRow You will have the first pick for your beloved Raiders tonight. You have some players in mind?  Btw, what did you guys do to Karl Joseph? He was one of those pre-draft players that I wanted the Vikings to draft.

Seems I have some positions in mind lol.

Karl Joseph played decent at times. He was let a go a few years ago went to the Browns then came back to the Raiders last year only to not make the final cut. He Just signed a 1 year deal with the Steelers after being on their practice squad last year.

Nice pick! Good value with a 6'4 receiver with jumping ability here!

Everyone has CB as a need for you. Whenever I look at a Mock Draft, they have the Vikings taking Stingley at 12.

True. Our SB Nation site selected McDuffie after Stingley went to the Commanders.

Yeah, that's when I would hope your GM in real life would probably pivot from the CB position in round 1 in that scenario and take another position. Generally fans of a team have a more need-first approach to the draft than the actual scouts and GM. We'll see what you do though. I'm guessing Stingley will be there at 12.

Any of you like Carson Strong?

For a while, I thought "Carson Strong" was the name given to Wentz by his fans. Then I realized there is an actual QB called Carson Strong.

I would be willing to take him in the 3rd round, but that's the earliest tbh. I'm lower on him than Ridder and Howell.

One QB went pretty high. @danlhart87 selected him for the Titans. It was neither of those two.

Will you all be following the real draft on this site or elsewhere?

The Forum always has good discussions on draft day. My first year here, I joined the chat. The draft seemed to evoke the strongest feelings on this forum is the 2015 one.  That is when the WR out of Miami was drafted at 29, Dorsett.

I'll be following it on here and also watching it on TV. Normally I watch NFL Network every year.

With the 82nd pick in the 2022 Gavin Mock Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select

Kyle Philips, WR, UCLA

@runthepost up next

Fun pick here. I was saving him as a super sleeper later on. Hoping the Colts go for him in the round 4/early round 5 pick range when the draft comes next week.

I'm hoping he falls that far as well, but I doubt it. Late day 2, early day 3 is where he should go IMO, he's the prototypical slot - a more athletic Hunter Renfrow, could definitely see him being a Ballard guy

We will have to make an announcement well ahead of time. I remember a fan who was on Twitter in 2015 who told me that the Vikings had drafted Eric Kendricks before the guy before Kendricks had been announced. LOL.

Last year, I was holding my breath praying they’d get Paye. Somehow, they did!

this year, I honestly don’t see that “have to have” guy that could transform this team. I just don’t like this class

It's less obvious we will get a guy who will contribute immediately because our first pick is at 42 instead of 21. We may go with a Watson or Pickens, but we also may go after someone like a Ridder, Howell, or a OT that's not a guarantee to start immediately. I truly believe we are more at the mercy of other teams and whatever Ballards board is this year for BPA.

Agreed, much more depth, but very few "must have" guys this year, but the draft is very deep at our positions of need (WR, TE (not top heavy, but very deep), OT) - if we get any offers, I could see a trade down once again in round 2 - if we do not like one of the reachable QBs... I still think trying to get Ridder would be very smart - even if we have to trade up to the very end of round one to secure the option

    • You would be also siding with me.  Our RBs are the same straight ahead running RB, they just get smaller as we move down the depth chart...from JT, to Hines, to Lindsay.    Its interesting how the cool kids want to blame somebody other than the RB for when the RB runs into a pile.  I've watched football for 45 years.  Can't keep up with the number of times I heard a color commentator say "The RB bounced it outside and gained 10 yards".  I don't think I've ever seen JT bounce it to the corner on his own when he detects a pile up brewing at the LOS.   But people choose to blame who they want, because it serves to validate long standing opinions.    A few years ago, we had a RB named TRich, who was notorious for running into the pile or missing the hole.  They blamed him, not the play caller of Chud or the HC Pags...LOL.    BUT, the reason they blamed the RB himself was not really because it was accurate, they simple chose to be accurate in that case because blaming the RB was a route to blaming the GM who traded a first round pick for him...in that case Ryan Grigson...so they easily blamed the RB then.    But some won't blame JT, because then it might cast some Blame on Ballard and deflect it away from Frank.  Silly people.   The RB is the reason for running into a pile.  Play calls could be different, but maybe neither JT, TRich, or any of our RBs including Hines, Mack, and Frank Gore before him, have ever been that twitchy guy that could bounce it outside on their own or even turn the corner that well on different play calls.   Example: Hines usually spins to change direction quickly, or else he loses his balance (which he often does anyway when he spins)
    • Colts Under Pressure to Play Taylor Thursday Night! Although X-rays were negative with no structural damage found and the injury isn’t regarded as serious, according to league sources, there is some question about whether Taylor can or should play Thursday night against the Denver Broncos on a short turnaround. “JT is their guy, everything revolves around him and the running game,” a league source said. “That said, he’s human and now he’s hurt. It’s not that bad, but it’s early in the season to push it and possibly make it worse. The smart play is letting him heal up and give it a shot next week. Of course, the owner (Jim Irsay)  and everyone is getting extremely antsy and upset about the bad start. Something has to give.” https://www.profootballnetwork.com/sources-weigh-in-on-whether-colts-star-rb-jonathan-taylor-should-miss-thursday-game/
    • If he had a long track record no BUT he doesn't and the leash is very short. He was on ps not active roster because team had doubts he was the answer and how long they wanted him. Hope for club's sake he looks good tomorrow and can hold down the fort, another miss and long week coming up odds are he wont be here another game.
    • Yes you CAN, this isnt brand new Colts and everyone else have done this weekly for a longgg time..lol.
    • Some crazy stuff here:    Offense:  Points For: 57 (14.3/g) 32nd of 32 (last in league in scoring)  2nd in the league in giveaways  Matt Ryan has been sacked 15 times for 5th worst in league. (Commanders lead w/ 17, Bears & Bengals tied @ 16)  Ryan has thrown 5 INTs (tied for 2nd)  Ryan leads the league in passing yards @ 1,125 (yay!)  1 play over 40 yards (44 to be exact)  Lead the league is yards lost per sack @ 117  JT is 6th in the league w/ 328 yrds (but take out the Texans game and that # drops to 167)  Out of 53 3rd down attempts they converted 21 = 40%  Out of 6 4th down attempts they made 1 = 17%  They have 6 TD's (tied for worst in the league w/ Bears and Broncos)  Ryan has 9 (!) fumbles in 4 games (wipe the butter off your hands bro)      Defense:  Points Against: 85 (21.3/g) 13th of 32 (13th in league - not too shabby)  Turnovers forced - 3rd worst in the league (is Leonard really the only one who can take the ball away?)  Allow the 6th best completion rate in the league 68.6% (they continue to get dink and dunked all the way down the field)  Tied for 4th worst at sacks w/ 7  2nd best at defending the run w/ only 3.1 YPC (awesome)  Tied for 2nd worst in the league with 1 INT by McLeod (but he seemed to call that play out before it happened)  Paye has 3 of the 7 sacks Franklin is leading tackler with 30. Oke is 2nd w/ 24 and Moore has 15
