Which of the following members of the Colts coaching staff and/or front office staff would be the "biggest loss" for the Colts - should they be hired by another team?

DC Matt Eberflus (Finalist for the Bears and Jaguars head coaching positions)

Asst General Manager Ed Dodds  (Being interviewed for the Raiders GM position)

Director of Scouting Morocco Brown (Being interviewed for GM positions)

Biggest loss would be Ed Dodds. 2nd biggest loss would be Morocco Brown. Lastly, would be Eberflus. But I'm also not super high on him as he has struggled to scheme up a consistent pass rush ever since he's been here. With having guys like Buckner, Paye, Autry in previous years, this pass rush should have been better than it has been.

Not concerned about any of them.

Our D & scheme leaves a lot not to like.

Though I hear(on this forum) our Execs are highly thought of, the results of the team have been Disappointing. Ballard is hovering around .500 and just In the last 12 months are off season maneuvers & Draft have been non contributing to say the least.

I don’t mean  to be a jerk. But I still don’t know why Dodds would be such a loss. I mean what have the colts done? What does he actually do? Not like colts are winning divisions. Not trying to be funny just curious why people think he would be such a big loss.

Just because you don't know what he does, doesn't mean that he doesn't do anything or isn't an important piece of our FO. From all accounts, he's a huge part of our scouting department and is regarded as one of the top talent evaluators in the NFL. Losing your Assistant GM that has the reputation he has is undoubtedly a huge loss.

I was asking a serious question. I wasn’t trying to be funny. Yes I did hear something about scouting.

My bigger point is maybe colts need some change. Because what they are doing now isn’t working.

It's the football gods that determine that.  Ballard and Reich never had a chance

Morocco Brown, he's doing the dirt for Ballard and Dodds...Honestly we can overcome all of it. We might have to have Flus's replacement adjust from a 3-4 system to our 4-3. Lovie Smith or Fangio would be nice...Flores would be my top choice but he will get another HC gig...

Isn't it odd that despite multiple interviews, teams are taking far more time than last year to make a hire? Normally, teams were in a rush to hire candidates in the past.

Now that playoff teams can let coaches interview more easily and that teams are doing their due diligence, I feel like we are seeing a more deliberate process, like it should be, IMO. Just an observation.

There are a lot of good candidates out there. I think that is the main reason. But yes you are right. It’s taking awhile.

I would say Dodds, Brown, Eberflus in that order. I actually consider Dodds and Brown equally important and the only reason I'd prefer to keep Dodds is that Brown would fetch us a compensatory 3rd rounder in 2022 and 2023 for another team hiring a minority GM from us. The difference is that small, and those picks could be important in hitting on a player or trading for Jimmy G or something since we can trade them. Eberflus is replaceable. Nuff said there.

If we need a new defensive coordinator, and people really want to see some innovative positive changes, bring in Ray Lewis.

Get him whatever assistance he would require as a first time coach. If you've ever heard him talk football, like with Peyton and Ely, you'll see the guy has a great defensive mind and knows what it takes to field a cohesive, intelligent defense.

I'm sure coaches are able to adapt, maybe we need to give up the 4-3. I'm sure Buckner will be fine in a 3-4. We would have to fine a Hybrid  DE LB. Paye is built like one..

Ballard doesn't want a 3-4 defense

I agree with the consensus - Dodds WOULD be the "biggest loss" - but - I feel Morocco Brown would be right behind him.

I think we need to give some serious consideration to finding a new D coordinator who runs the system this team is built for.  Too much talent for too little returns.
