Joe Burrow unlikely to play Sunday

I am not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. This could result in the Bengals losing to the Browns.

https://sports.yahoo.com/joe-burrow-not-play-sunday-172628024.html#:~:text=Burrow told reporters today that, stay fresh for the playoffs.

From the Bengals perspective, they would have a tougher challenge if they drop to the #4 seed and have to play Belichick and the Patriots at #5.

From the Colts perspective, this would mean we would have to go back to Buffalo or go to KC.

Going to be interesting...

If the Bengals were the same record as the Titans and Chiefs now by beating the Jets, the 3 way tie would have given them the #1 seed by virtue of them having a better AFC record than the Titans, Chiefs and Bills.

That is what a young team will learn, to maintain a high floor as time goes on.

Some people say they want to face the Titans in the first round, but if the Titans win, they get a first round bye. It looks like the Colts would face the Chiefs or maybe the Bills.

I saw someone tweet they don’t want to play the Colts lol. I think there is a chance  there  will be a lot of shuffling this last week. I won’t be surprised even is pats lose to dolphins.

Doesn’t matter if they  lose to Browns. It won’t have any bearing on us. It could however shuffle around who gets the 2-4 seed.  I want Bills or Titans first round.

If it means we don’t play the Bengals in R1 and instead we play another team, like the Titans or Bills,  then it does have a bearing on us.

Personally, I’d rather not play Cincy in R1, but everyone is different.

Yikes.. I don't know... But every game we've lost we've been close. Except week one lol

The way I look at it is they don’t play Burrows and other starters it only puts more pressure on them when they play their first playoff game in years at home in tough weather conditions.  I think that’s advantage Colts.

Agree.

Cincinnati has been getting better by the weeks.

And I don't see them losing to Browns.

I'm not sure who I want to play. I'm leaning Bengals because they're young and lack playoff experience, But they have an explosive passing game and they run it well too. Bills are pretty beatable, and pretty much one dimensional which makes them easier to stop. And their run defense is pretty bad.

    • Maybe.    But you don’t know who the former exec is and don’t know what he may know about Ballard.
    • The people who drafted Watson are gone.     There are new people drafting in 2023.     They may or may not want Richardson.  But if they do, IMO it won’t have anything to do with Watson.
    • @Superman You asked about this info earlier... On this podcast Eric Eager and Thomas Dimitroff(ex-Falcons GM) discuss the QBs of this class... some good info on a lot of them, and especially interesting to hear the opinion of a guy who drafted Matt Ryan(pretty much what we hope Stroud will be). Here are their time to throw numbers according to Eager and some other interesting stats:     CJ Stroud:  - 9.4 yards per pass attempt (2nd in college football) - 16 turnover worthy plays(this is actually kind of high - bottom 3d of college football) - ADOT: 10.7 yards  - Adjusted Completion% - 73%  - pressure to sack ratio - 14.1%, not bad, not great - 2.9 seconds time to throw - when clean(no pressure) - 10.3 yards per attempt... when pressured 5.7 yards per attempt    Bryce Young - 8.8 yards per pass attempt(8th in college football) - 9 turnover worthy plays - ADOT: 10.0 yards - Adjusted completion % - 77% - 12.5 pressure to sack ratio - 3.2 seconds time to throw - averaged more yards per attempt when pressured(9.3) than when kept clean  - only 1 turnover worthy play when clean!!!    Anthony Richardson - 7.7 yards per attempt - 13 turnover worthy plays - ADOT: 11.5 - 64.5 adjusted completion % (141th out of 155 in college, ouch) - 9.2 pressure to sack ratio(better than Mahomes had in college)  - 3.18 seconds time to throw   Will Levis - 8.4 yards per attempt  - 13 turnover worthy plays - ADOT: 8.6 yards (not high, lots of short throws) - Adjusted completion % 75.6% - 26.8% pressure to sack ratio  - 2.58 seconds time to throw !!! This is incredibly low. And puts even more question on the pressure to sack ratio... he gets sacked a lot and gets sacked EARLY in the down.  - outside the numbers - 3/8 to the right and 2/4 to the left on 10-19 yard throws. 1/12 throwing outside the numbers on throws over 20 yards last year!! - 9 turnover worthy plays from clean pocket, 4 turnover worthy plays when pressured... majority of mistakes, when he was clean
    • Note that this is NOT a sourced info. This is something a "former NFL executive" thought might be within Colts' interests...   "Former NFL executive" knows nothing about Ballard...
    • Not only that we have a couple of TEs that needs fed. For a rookie QB TEs are generally their first options.
