Wentz versus rivers

Wentz can throw the ball downfield. And he can just throw it up and expect his guys to catch the ball, like Pittman did a few times last night. Wentz is infinitely more mobile than Rivers. Wentz loves to throw the ball deep, something Rivers didn't do very often. I'm not sure we win last night with Rivers at QB.

Wenhz has a deep ball and can extend plays. It’s clear where they are different. Anyone who says there is no difference isn’t watching the colts.

Who says there is no difference?

Some guy named Geoffrey Knox. I believe he writes for Tennessee. He claims there is no evidence that Wentz is better than Rivers and predicts titans will win 27 to 23

Wentz can throw deep and can move.  Rivers it little more on target and reads a defense a little faster and gets ride of the ball faster.  Both are really good. You can win with both.

Wentz is 11 years younger than Rivers, and considerably more athletic, they're both ultra competitive but Philip's football acumen, quick recognition of defenses and timely ball placement can't be overlooked.

When Carson entered the league and the Chargers played them one of those 1st couple seasons, some Chargers fans considered Wentz "Philip Rivers Jr" because both men are religious,  and neither one curses.

One other potential difference, is that Carson's team might go to the playoffs this year, but unfortunately Philip's will not:

Wentz has better arm talent than Luck.......and maybe even Manning (hard to beat PMs accuracy).  If he can stay calm enough to always use it wisely, we should see a big difference between him and Rivers just by the kind of passes he can complete.

Luck had a bigger arm than Peyton, Peyton was far more accurate.    I'm not sure Wentz has a bigger arm than Luck.  Not sure where you're getting that

Wentz is throwing ideal 50-50 balls.  Phil threw panicked, prayer 50-50 balls into traffic and into harms way.  As I said last year, if I'm Reich, I'm never calling a 50-50 end zone ball with Rivers.  It's a ticket to a turnover.  He does it enough on his own.

Jacoby ain't throwing hail marys for Wentz.  j/k

Wentz's deep ball looks close to Luck's, but I'm not sure he's hitting every other spot on the field like Luck did.

Wentz' passes seem to have more zip on them from looking at different types of throws.  Flatter trajectory over the same distance, but they may not be that far part.  (but last night was a bad night with the rain issues). Luck struggled with ball placement on the short throws compared to Wentz.

But to the OP, there is a big difference in what Wentz can do compared to Rivers.

Rivers is a savvy vet using his mind to make up for a lack of athletic ability. Wentz is Andrew-like and it really is a scary comparison because you can see it.

I agree he plays similar to Luck. The difference being he throws less ints but Luck was better with protection s at the line

Lol and I think Wentz done well when he has little protection as well thanks to Fishers and Davenport seems like he is always in rush also and I think both Wentz and Luck plays hero ball when it is better to just throw away.

I’m all for the fakes and RPOs. In fact I’m loving it. I just want to see some real PA. Taylor could easily put up 150 yards a game, and our receivers would get open a lot more.

I just saw colts are leading the league with PA or near the top.

It is so funny to me Wentz haters can’t just admit they were wrong. This short podcast popped up on my podcasts and they go I still don’t think the colts made the right decision. Wentz haters are dug in. I think the colts could win the SB and they would still hate him.

Not sure you’re aware..

Davenport hasn’t played in about a month….  It’s been Pryor as the right tackle for some time.    And he’s done a nice job.

I am aware just pointing out that earlier in the year he was getting murdered thanks to Davenport and now Fishers is not really making it easy for him

Fisher hasn’t been great but he has been far from being bad.

I have been very impressed with Wentz, he is more athletic than Rivers is but Rivers was a great QB and could read defenses with the best of them. Rivers did go 11-5 last year and we made the playoffs so lets see if we beat the Titans before we really do this The Simpsons GIF by KiwiGo (KGO)- I did it last night anyway lmao

I think Fisher has been making strides the last few weeks….  Maybe not big steps, but small ones.   Bosa didn’t get a sack, so that’s something.   Fisher should continue to get better.   There’s no reason to think he won’t get better as the season continues.

PS….   Obviously this Sunday will be a big test for Fisher.
