Can Jacob Eason be Dak Prescott 2.0?

Both being thrusted into being a starter because of a veteran being made of glass.

 

Eason has to seize this opportunity. Hopefully he does.

Probability says no. It’s very rare for 4th rounders to be successful and to be honest he may not be ready. 
 

But he might be the only option we’ve got.

I just want the kid to Jacob Eason 1.0. He has a great team around him and has a great opportunity to show whether he is ready to play. Will be rooting for him and looking forward to watching him play and develop.

When pressure comes, Dak can take off and run (rushed for 40 TDs in college joining guys like Tebow and Kaepernick in that category). Eason, not so much, lost his starting job to Jake Fromm who couldn't even get backup role in Buffalo that they invested in Trubisky. So, I really doubt that comparison will come to fruition.

 

He just needs to run Reich's offense the best he can, nothing more, nothing less, and the gun of an arm doesn't matter much if he is inaccurate. Hoping for the best but not setting my expectations too high if it is indeed Eason starting a few games for us.

Expecting your fourth round QB to become your franchise QB is very unrealistic.  Yes Dak did it in Dallas (and some would argue calling him a franchise QB is a stretch but that’s another debate) but he is by far the exception not the rule.

If Reich can make Jacoby Brissett, who is a terrible QB, look good for 7 weeks, Eason has nothing to worry about.  I think he will do fine.  He will mostly hand off, check down, but then do something Brissett could never do, which is COMPLETE a long pass.

Since we have no idea on the extent of Wentz's injury, Eason is in a position to prove he belongs in the NFL and be a starter.  It is as simple as that and I am rooting for him.  I know some will say he had a rough day yesterday, but that is 1 day.

We're all rooting for him but if can't grasp the basics of being an NFL starter, there's a young man behind him who will be more than willing to give it a good shot. I think Ehlinger has a good chance here too.
