I'm trying not to turn one game into more than it is.

Fact is....   we let Walker walk out the door without so much as a counter-off.     At the same time,  we're trying to sign Leonard to one of the largest contracts any LB has ever received.     The two players are not comparable.

I'm trying to say it's just one game.   Nothing more.    It's not proof of anything more than just one game.

The original post I was referring to, didn't say Walker was better than Leonard, or anything close. It simply said something like we didn't miss a beat, or something to that effect. And at least against Cleveland, I think that's a fair comment.

You're correct.  We were in the top third for sacks and PPG.  Stats can be misleading sometimes and don't represent what we actually see.  Like game one where the mustache looked as good as Drew Brees.  I know, week 1 was weird.  Add to it we played a pretty weak schedule.

I think week 1 was bad coaching. And we played softer than Charmin Ultra Soft. Way too much cushion and the Stache ate us up. We actually gave him the looks he needed to succeed lol..

They're also normalized and often don't represent what a team really is by the middle/end of the season.  (Steelers led the league in sacks.  Yet the Browns destroyed them in the playoffs, and Baker wasn't touched)

Browns have one of the best, if not the best, OL in the league. So that's a matchup I wouldn't say is the norm. Steelers are struggling too. Not sure how long they'll stand pat before rebuilding.

The eye test showed me that we were letting most QBs take a lot of time in the pocket.

That's what happens though when you only rush 4 and are near league low in blitzing. OLs settle in, and can play conservative.

As far as D Line depth, you're also correct.  The ceiling isn't real high, but the floor is pretty good.  There are going to be a couple guys who will get cut that can make other teams.

I know we have no shot at getting Jones.  I wonder if we'll see Houston again.

I think the ceiling is pretty high actually. I just think it might take time.

And the floor this year could be low vs the pass. We're literally counting on every DE to do something they've never done lol.

    • https://www.chargers.com/news/chargers-sign-dustin-hopkins   The guy who "beat out" Michael Badgley in training camp has himself been replaced: Dustin Hopkins in, Tristan Vizcaino out!   Kinda reminds me of when the Bolts cut their veteran kicker Josh Lambo in favor of Younghoe Koo, only to cut Koo after only 4 weeks.
    • Homer in a Leonard jersey would be the funniest thing ever. I know I am nerd when it comes to crap like this  . I am glad you a part of this site, guys like you and @NewColtsFan and @Wentzszn keep things flowing like a well oiled machine. I am grateful for people like @jvan1973 and @Gramz too, when I was new they treated me like a vet in here. I am not going to name everyone but there are least 20 other people in here that are awesome. I hope @Jared CisnerosBraves win the WS, it is 1-1 right now. Best of 5 now. @NFLfan has been a great friend and great person go captain Kirk , @HOZERwas my side kick on the baseball thread doing play by play when the Cubs were bad butts,@Jay Kirk - thanks for the baseball threads and @Mylesand @PrincetonTigerwith all of his Gifs  . I need to stop because I am sounding like Magic with his dream team speech  . @Mel Kiper's Hairfor having that fine hair time and time again talking about the ladies lol. @PuntersArePeopleToofor being the young gun that knows his stuff.   Last but not least @Nadine and @Superman and @RockThatBlueholding the fort down in here. One more thing @Gavinwe all miss you brother, you loved the Colts, Pacers, and Hakeem Olajuwon with that great D and foot work.
    • He has been very bad in pass pro every game, including last week. Plenty of vids/tweets out there of him getting boat raced and just beat. I'd absolutely let Pryor get some reps, especially if we're at a point we need to pass. Pryor has done very well since stepping in. No sacks, and good grades, and has went against some decent comp.   And before last week, his grade was 6th best at T in the league. Not sure where it is now, but that's pretty darn good. And if you want him to be your swing guy down the road, you need to know he can play LT if needed. And I just can't see him doing much worse in pass pro. If he's not good, you can always pull him and stop the experiment. It's not like an all or nothing move.
    • you think fish is doing that bad that you wanna let pryor get game snaps?
    • Not really interested unless the Colts aren't confident in TY's return. Wouldn't hate it, but not really wanting to give anything up for him. And it wouldn't be just this year. He's got a 15M cap hit next season.
