Cubs need to learn how to win on the road, this is silly.

Yeah this series is a lot like the Giants series. For whatever reason we have looked flat all series. Luckily the Reds beat the Brewers again lol and we are still tied for 1st place in the NL Central with the Brewers at 38-30. Reds have saved our hide this week standings wise.

But now the top 4 are all within 3 games. We got one more with Mets, then Marlins at home, so hopefully

Very but just a quick one, then got indians for 2 and dodgers for 4 after that in LA

Cubs beat the Mets tonight 2-0. The Professor pitched a great game. El Mago's 2 run HR was the only scoring. Cards lost tonight and the Brewers are down 5-0 to the Rockies in the 5th last I checked. @HOZER, fly the Flag - we finally got a win in this series. Cubs are at 39-30 on the season and still in great shape.

Reds are also down by 2 in bottom of the 8th. Could be only central team to win today.

Cubs need to get back to their may offense, as HRs can't continue to hold us

Well that game went even more drunk, both team score 4 in the 9th. Padres walk it off win 6-4. Rockies beat Brewers 7-3

Cubs in solo first

Brewers 1 back

Reds 3 back

Cards 4 back

Pirates forgot they are a professional baseball team

Yeah it is a great feeling to be able to say we are in 1st place in the NL Central heading into June 18th. We have had a brutal schedule of late and survived it to remain in 1st place. The Brewers have had the much weaker schedule of late and couldn't take of advantage of it.

NL Central Standings as of June 17th

1. Cubs 39-30

2. Brewers 38-31 (1 back)

3. Reds 35-32 (3 back)

4. Cards 35-34 (4 back)

5. Pirates 23-44 (15 back)

Meanwhile, the Cardinals sign Wade LeBlanc...a veteran pitcher who was recently outrighted by the Orioles.

That's how desperate we are for pitching.  Good grief...I think we bring back Chris Carpenter, he's well rested and looks to be in great shape!

Who wouldve guessed that the only win for NL Central tonight would be the Pirates beating the Indians

I know what a strange baseball season so far. The Cubs have a good team overall, we are like all the other good teams in the NL basically. We have our ups and downs but that is baseball with a 162 game season. The only team in the NL right now that can say they have played great are the Giants at 45-25. Looking at all the good teams in the NL, they are all 8 games above .500 with the exception of the Dodgers who are 42-27. Cubs are 39-31, Padres 40-32, and Mets 35-27. So the other teams fans feel our misery when a loss happens as well. We really need to just start playing more consistent. It needs to start tomorrow with the Marlins who we are much better than.

If someone told me before the season started that we would be in 1st place in the NL Central through 70 games on June 19th, I would take it. That is the extreme positive way to look at this.

Cubs vs Marlins at 220pm today. Jake takes the hill and looks to get back on track (he is 5-7 currently). The Cubs look for their 40th win to remain in 1st place in the NL Central.

Jake needs to be DFA, he is just toast and hasn't shown any improvement this season and is just getting hit hard a lot

Keep in mind, Hendricks looked really bad at the beginning of the season for several starts and now looks great. I definitely can't defend Jake here because he has been bad of late but he still has time to come out of his funk. I can't believe we have lost 2 straight to these clowns.

Hendricks was more a different story. He had good years the last 3 years and normally starts slow, also younger. The ball being changed was another big piece for him and Davies. The biggest issue for him still is HR so needs to get that figured out. Jake on otherhand has not had a good season since 2017 and is wrong side of 35 for a pitcher with a complex delivery. And for him he isnt even giving competitive starts anymore. I was hoping the sickness/cut were the cause for his bad starts, but he had one good and two, absolute crap, he isnt able to age well and is costing us games, by not giving a chance even.

And I agree, we just have an issue with the Marlins for some reason ever since 2003

Much needed win today, Cubs take out the Marlins 2-0. The bats are still struggling but a win is a win and we are still in 1st place in the NL Central by .5 over the Brewers at 40-32. @HOZERFly the Flag.

Very much needed. Mills pitched well which was good to see. Getting to our back 3 Bullpen guys has been real nice. Hopefully the other starters can do. Now 2 against indians and 4 at the Dodgers

6 tough games coming up, if we can go 3-3 in those games I will take it. I am concerned about our offense right now, it needs to pick up.

Lucky to see Wrigley this year. There's a small chance I will at end of September but not sure

Brewers next 6 games are against at D-Backs for 3, and Rockies for 3 at home. Man the league gave them an extremely easy June schedule. Luckily so far they really have not took advantage of it. Both the Cubs and Brewers sit at 40-32 tied for 1st in the NL Central.

It would be amazing if they could win a game. They haven't in 3 weeks.

I have a feeling the Brewers are going 5-1 in those 6 games and we are going 3-3 in our next 6. If that happens, that will still only put us 2 games out of 1st. Then we play them in a 3 game set at the Brewers to end June. I am hoping we go better than 3-3 but playing in LA for 4 won't be easy at all.

Wainwright with a great start in game one of a double header against the Braves yesterday, but our bats went silent in game 2, so we settle for a split.  Off day today, then our next 9 games are: two at Detroit, then 4 at home against the Pirates and then we host the D-Backs for 3 games.  Excellent chance for us t make up some ground in the standings.

Yeah what is up with that haha , you guys and the Brewers playing cream puffs while the Cubs are playing good teams every day confused homer simpson GIF - the schedule will even out but damn June has been something else. Cards and Brewers both should clean house for about a week

Very true, and that is what makes our time currently harder. On otherhand maybe D-Backs are embarrassed finally and beat up on brewers

And Twins walk it off vs Reds after a 5hr game. 7-5 Sano Walkoff HR.

All 3 NL Central teams lost today.

The 2 that didn't play picked up half a game

Unreal that the D-Backs won, we needed the help. Our bats have disappeared, losing to the Indians 4-0. The Cubs have me worried again as I am not sure what is going on. We are still tied for 1st in the NL Central with the Brewers at 40-33. Cards are still 3 games back at 36-36 but as @Barry Searspointed out, they have a favorable schedule for about a week.

Looks like things will even out as far as the Cubs schedule in July.  3 at the Reds, then home for 4 against the Phillies and host the Cardinals for 3 games.  Then the All-Star break.  Return for 3 at Arizona and 4 at St. Louis.  Back home for 3 vs. the D-Backs and 4 with the Reds.  Finish out the month at Washington.  With the way the Cardinals are playing, the Cubs should win those series, as well as the series with Arizona.  Phillies and Reds are winnable series, too.

Yeah it will even out, I was just surprised at how many series the Brewers have had in a row here in June against bad teams.

We are nearing July, and I still can’t figure out the Reds, haha…

And Votto is out today with a one game suspension for the ejection last weekend. What did you guys do to the commissioner office to keep getting suspended:lol:

Normally an ejection like that, they just fine you and move on, not like he hit the ump
