I heard Bears fans say they liked him and expected him to continue playing and Jenkins to play RT. I wonder if Ballard will kick the tires.

How can he not unless he already has a deal in place for a veteran.

Not being antagonistic, but wasn't that the thought about our first pick?

Well, we all thought we were going to grab one in the draft in round 1 or 2 and we didn't. Then Irsay says the Colts believe Tevi can play good football at Left Tackle for us. So it's hard to say what they're thinking right now.

Chris Strausser was his college coach as well. Bring this guy in for LT.

I think that makes him signing here even more likely.

At this point, since he's the guy that would be starting day 1 if nobody else is brought in, they have to say those things. You can't say "We hope we can get someone else in here soon, because we don't think Sam Tevi can get it done". Let's say something happens to where you aren't able to sign a better FA LT and Tevi ends up having to start day 1. You now have a guy starting at LT that you already said you don't have confidence in.

The fact that they mentioned right after that that they'll continue to scour the FA pool tell me it's a "Tevi is the guy until we find someone better, but we'll stand behind him until that day comes".

Well, duh! I think we all understand that. I was just wondering if we are for sure going to be checking out Leno and other FA LT's or if we're just planning to roll with Tevi. The poster that I was responding to made it seem like it's silly to ask that question and of course they will bring in someone else. But who really knows for sure? Nobody until there's factual news about it.

Exactly, they can't tip their hand.  I am sure they will at least consider him.

Leno looks like a no-brainer. He was a cap casualty in Chicago, and seems to have plenty of mileage left in him.

And what about Villanueva? Is he a viable option?

I wonder how many cap strapped teams drafted LTs this year.

Perhaps, we're in wait.

AND, how many teams with plenty of cap space need an LT?

Had he been available at the start of free agency, few would have been interested, but circumstances have changed. Whoever is starting at LT in game 1 of 2021 it will likely be a dropoff.  The question now is, how much of a dropoff?

Twitter is going nuts trying to sign Leno. He's even liked a bunch of tweets.

If him and Chris Strausser had a good relationship, I think it's as good as done. I can imagine that his agent is going to try to use our need at LT to leverage a better deal. Hopefully that doesn't push the $$ too high for us to want to sign him.

The bears had one of the worst OL's in the NFL, the QB got killed last year..

This should give you a deeper look to make up your own mind:

Villanueva signed with the Ravens. A team that knows what they are doing.

Not going to lie. I sent him a message yesterday and he read and liked it. lol. He should probably pack a bag and start driving to Indianapolis sometime this week.

    • First time I've seen a guy get pulled forward, faster than he can propel himself, in order to get faster and also to gain more body control at faster speeds. Very interesting!
    • Graham's been fantastic for a decade in terms of consistently pressuring the QB and being a complete, 3 down end. Nothing wrong with that. It's not all about sacks.
    • I don't remember seeing this posted yet, but just came across it:   Nothing ground breaking, but a cool insight into some of his training.
    • To be honest with you, if we get that many sacks out of Paye (60) with twice as many pressures (120) over 10 years with double digit forced fumbles and tackles for losses every year, I would be happy with that kind of production knowing what Buckner and others will bring on the interior as well and that the sack and pressure numbers will be distributed amongst other pass rushers too. You don't have 3 down pass rushers as much nowadays and the numbers probably will reflect that as time goes on, IMO.    That Philly D-line is loaded, so a lot of DL have to eat too.  Plus, Philly has good edge setting DL that their run D has been top notch for several years. So, it is a sum of many things for DL play.
    • Competition     Devastating when your opponent can knock in a 54 yarder to beat you, but your team vacillates between kicking the FG or going for it on 4th down beyond 49 yards.     Inside of 50 yards, yes he was. Hit 32 out of 37 field goal attempts (87%) and made 43 out of 45 of his extra point chances.     If he improves there, he wins his job back in his sophomore season, IMO.
