Dr. T's Annual Colts Draft Contest for 2021!! (Merge)

Recommended Posts

Welcome once again to Dr. T’s annual, official Colts Draft Contest for 2021! With only six choices, we needed to be creative again this year. So first, contestants will be asked to select an A, B, and C choice for all rounds. Correctly choosing choice A merits 5 points, while correctly choosing choice B or C instead will merit 4 and 3 points respectively. If one of your "A" selections is chosen, but in a different round than you predicted, you get 2 points, if one of your "B" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 1 point, and if one of your "C" selections is chosen in a different round than you predicted, you get 0.5 points. In addition, you will also get to earn an additional point by predicting correctly if the Colts will trade their first round pick this year, but with a twist! If you predict correctly, you earn one point, but if you are incorrect, you will be DEDUCTED one point. If you don’t want to risk it, you can also abstain (no harm, no foul). For those that do not answer this question, the default is that this is a vote to abstain.  If AND ONLY IF there is no clear winner at the end of the 7 rounds of the draft, the contest will be extended for ALL participants in which everyone will also be awarded one point for each collegiate free agent you predicted would be drafted by the Colts, but was instead signed by the Colts after the draft.

Make your choices here by listing the round, choice A, B, or C for each round, with the name of the player, position and school AND your prediction on whether the Colts will trade out of the #21 slot this year. You may also write with each choice a little blurb explaining your rationale. Your 18 Colts selections and draft question this year are as follows:

Round 1 - #21 A, B, C

Round 2 - #54 A, B, C

Round 4 - #127 A, B, C

Round 5 - #165 A, B, C

Round 6 - #206 A, B, C

Round 7 - #248 A, B, C

Will the Colts trade the first-round pick? Yes, No, Abstain

Please be a good sport and do not just copy other contestant's selections. You can easily do some research on your own, since plenty of free draft services are available on the web. You also can make changes to your selections, but this can only be done before the contest is closed on Thursday at noon CST April 29, 2021, on the first day of the draft. Good luck and let the best GM win!  :applause: :cheer2:

I am making a change.... Because I cannot edit or delete my previous post, I'll just quote myself. That, and I enjoy talking to myself. It's some of the best conversations I have ever had. I like talking to intelligent people. LOL

I am choosing to abstain from the Colts trading the first overall pick. I think we will stand put. However, I also feel that we could surprise a lot of people and move up for Ojulari. He is that 9 technique game-closing edge rusher that we don't currently have on this team. I could see us moving up 5-10 spots to get him, even it it cost us our second round pick (#54) to do it. I believe the Giants would be willing to deal... Keep an eye on pick #11... If we move up then I could absolutely see us doing so for Ojulari.

If we can somehow walk away from this draft with Ojulari and Little... I believe we will have hit a homerun in this draft.

Round 1 - #21

A: Azeez Ojulari, Georgia

B: Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech

Nope. I abstained. More worried about the Colts not getting a fair trade partner than IF they will trade. Ballard isn't settling

Without a 3rd Round pick and only 6 draft picks can only imagine the Colts are looking to trade back and it has to come in either Rounds 1 and/or 2.  However, if that one player drops to us at 21st then no deal.

Guessing Potential trade partners in Round 1 are:

  • Jaguars - trade back R1P25 get R4P106 - Division rival would they even consider a trade?
  • Browns - trade back R1P26 assume get R4P110 and R5P169
  • Packers - trade back R1P29 assume get R3P132 and one of their Round 5 picks 173 or 178
  • Falcons - trade back R2P35 get R3P68

I think I would prefer the Falcons trade the best.  Should still be 6 starting caliber LTs available plus pick up an early 3rd Round pick.

I quoted myself and made the change. Originally, I didn’t think we had a chance to get Ojulari. And I never believed he would go later than Day 1. I think he will (and should go) top 10-15. In a draft without QBs getting pushed up, a player like him goes top 10 in my opinion.

You will see my reasoning a few posts above.

Ironically, #11 also happens to be the Dwight Freeney pick if the Giants do go with Ojulari over Waddle. Might not make their fans happy but they will get the pass rusher they need.

Plus, I am not really sold on the WR needs of the Giants being promoted with Daniel Jones having good rapport with Slayton, Shepherd and signing of Golladay plus Evan Engram on his contract year. Oh, and then, they do have Saquon after all. :)

They need an OG too maybe Slater if he falls

The rules are that your entry to the draft contest should be based on picks that the Colts CURRENTLY have.

Otherwise, anyone can enter in more player names increasing their odds to hit by specifying trades that they think or wish might happen. Just letting you know. Thanks. :)
