Wow...per Pat Macaffee on his talk show today he said that T.Y. texted him that he gave up ALOT of money to resign with Indy.  T.Y. said if you love something...you give something.   I love T.Y. even more after hearing that.

WOW!

It sure feels like we are treading water this off season. If we draft a LT first round like many are predicting, it’s hard to see where the juice comes from to markedly improve. Building through the draft is great but other teams get picks too. Here’s hoping Wentz is ready to return to All Pro form. We will need it. Go Colts!

Yes, signing a slow washed up TY Hilton will certainly move the Colts needle up. Not! Perhaps we will draft two receivers and cut him before the season starts.

Ballard rolled the dice and came up 7s again. 1 year deals for Rhodes and TY and no impact on cash to later sign Q, Leonard and Braden. If he could have just snagged Autry with similar deal. Best GM in football.

Most are happy he’s back. The usual suspects are trashing and trolling as always.

It's not just a player thing, it's a respect thing. He's a good player, maybe not what he was, but still very good. But he's also a long time die hard Colt, we have to take care of our own. This isn't a bank breaking 4 year deal, it's a 1 year "thank you" deal..

Super happy on the surface that he's back, but have a lot of competing thoughts.

  • 10M is a little too much, but I understand it, given it's only a one year deal. Overall, just happy the question has been answered. I am a tiny bit surprised it wasn't for 2 years. I just hope this doesn't become a yearly exercise with TY for the next 2-3 years. When TY said "one more contract", I doubt he was thinking a one year deal.
  • Not sure I buy that Baltimore offered 13M, as they only 16M in cap space. Maybe the contract included fake years on the back end to spread out the money. And I really doubt they would guarantee more.
  • Overall, going to Baltimore IMO, whatever the offer, would have been a super bad move on many levels. I'm sure some of the below weighed on him even if the offer was a little more.
    1. it's a new system.
    2. he'd be directly competing with Hollywood Brown, someone they just took a 2 years ago, and who is their future. Second, they drafted Devin Duvernay last year, who is also a speedy z/slot WR, and would also compete for snaps.
    3. TY at this stage is a timing, last cut, WR. Lamar Jackson really isn't a timing QB. IMO, bad match.
  • I've said for a while now, I'd prefer to bring TY back, but also want to take a mid round (3-5) WR, as the class is deep again, and very foggy from covid (so some very good prospects will likely drop). I still think we take a guy in that range. We still have to think of post-2021 and find the future at Z. Even if we move Campbell out to Z (which I hope is in the plans), we still need another quality Z/slot guy to take over whatever position Campbell vacates.
  • After this, and the Wentz restructure, that should leave us with 31ish M in cap space. Given we still have major holes at DE and LT, some depth areas of concern, and big contracts coming up, I wonder if we'll see any more significant moves before the draft.

I would be shocked if they drafted one earlier thrn the 4th round. We are loaded on offense. Not to mention Fountain, Patmon, Dulin, and Harris.

I would say loaded with potential, not production. RB is really the only loaded area IMO. I'm happy with TE, but I know others feel it's lacking. I think it's more underutilized than lacking talent. WR gets a C+ for production, but has high potential. Even with TY back, you have to find the future at Z.

Nominated for silliest post of the year.

See above on why Baltimore was a very bad fit for him (if that was the team). In short, he would be competing for snaps there, not the feature guy. It could have turned out very meh for him there, and a sour note to end his career.

Love the signing for $8M guaranteed. One of the best route runners of the last decade. Lost a step but has everything else. Knows the building. I'm a little sketchy on reports that he was offered more than Fuller but whatever. Rather see him on this team than Watkins twice on Sundays. If Campbell can stay healthy he could do everything Watkins should have been doing and let's not forget about the potential Pittman has in 1v1, not to mention Pascal. I also like it because of maintaining continuity with a new QB in the locker room.

Hilton,  Pittman,  pascal, and Campbell  are good, but after those 4 are question  marks and if Campbell  gets hurt again he's  probably  done as a colt. May need another playmaking  wr in draft to be on safe side

Hilton is long past being good. He might be adequate but he can't do good anymore.

There were better and more important places to pay that kind of money.

I think TY will have a bette year then the last two years. I imagine he will be happy just to be a piece of the puzzle. He is a very unselfish player. At this point in his career he will be on a year to year basis. We will see if he does a presser if he says this will be it. He could just keep playing on one year contracts until he decides to retire. Only signing for a year probably guarantees he retires as a colt.

Its not too much dude.   He has been with JB and a better option with PR.

This is a great signing.       I didnt read the rest of your post after the first line sooooo.  Maybe you redeemed yourself in the post.  But TY will go off with Wentz.   Dont believe me?     I trust Ballard.

Yeah, you might want to look at his stats again. But 2012 was very nice.

Really surprised that this is a 1 year deal. Wonder what happens next year.

He is banking on Wentz.   Which I like.   His numbers are going to be a lot better with Carson.

Also I think Ballard gave him a way to up his stock next yr.    This is why Ballard is a great GM   He takes care of his own

Yeah great news. Going by the Indianapolis era (1984-2020 players) I have been on record for a while saying he is the 3rd best WR the Indianapolis Colts have ever had. Only Marvin and Reggie are better. Marvin = great and Hall of Famer category, Reggie = great and should make the Hall of Fame one day category, and it is fair to say TY Hilton belongs in the very good category/good at worse category.

I still think he can give us 4 or 5 great games in 2021, 5 other's that are good IMO. The 10 Mill a year part doesn't even bother me. I thought he would go for at least 8 anyway, I wish he would've signed for 2 years though.

1 year 10 million.  Ty says he turned down more money to come back.  There was another report today that the Colts were the only team interested in him so who knows.

Beyond that Colts fans are happy the ghost is back.

I skimmed through most of the posts and I really only seen 1 person complaining about this, I may have missed 1 or 2 others but overall most everyone is happy with this. I am ok with the 10 Mill part as well because I didn't think he would sign anywhere for less than 8 anyway. In a perfect world a 2 yr deal for 16 Mill would've been perfect but I am just glad TY is back.

Hilton  hater smh. Hilton has plenty  in the tank. Brissett  and rivers obviously  weren't  good enough  to take full advantage of  his skill  set. A prime rivers would have been. Wentz will get it to hilton like Luck used to.

Like I said, I'm happy TY is back. Just not sure if the value/production will outweigh the sentimentality.

Also, 10M is top 20ish pay. Top 20ish production is 900 or more yards. You think TY gets 900 or more?

It's a very real possibility that TY is 3rd or 4th in team WR yards this year. If that happens, was it worth 10M?

I really like and respect Ballard. I don't worship him though, and I'm not a blind trust guy. He's had a lot of hits, but he's had misses too. His track record at WR FAs is not the best.

As of now going by our WR room, Pittman is the only WR I can see maybe having more yards and he is under a rookie contract which is great. I hope Pittman does break out being that it is yr 2 for him. If TY plays at least 14 games I can see him getting 900 yards. Health is the key.

I'm not so sure TY's skills have really diminished that much. Look up the stats from 2016 through 2020 he is right up there near the top of receiving categories and when you realize for 2 of those years he didn't have a qb his numbers are absolutely astounding. Great to have him back!!!!!
