Every year Chris Simms has a completely different take on pretty much....   everything.

Especially at quarterback.

He almost always goes against conventional wisdom.   And I’m ok with that.   But sometimes I get a sense he's different just so that he can stand out in a crowd.   Maybe it’s just me?

I’ll see if I can try to find similar articles about QBs in previous years.

Yeah he does this every year, my list would be:

1. Lawrence

2. Wilson

3. I flip flop on Lance and Fields, I think that is even (3/4.)

5. Jones

He’s a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian. I think people just get bored around this time too. After awhile there’s usually an established consensus on most things; who the best QB is, who is going number 1 overall, who the best defensive player is, positional rankings, etc...

Sometimes I think people get bored with the consensus and just go against the grain to create néw content. How can you seriously have Kellon Mond over Justin Fields and Trey Lance?

Sims has been pretty good actually. So good in fact that I won't judge him on this until it plays out over the coming years. But as a general sense I'm not yet convinced on Wilson, but I do agree that Mond seems a bit underrated. One thing I like about Sims is that when he is wrong though, he doesn't make excuses. He just admits he was wrong. But when it comes to ranking QBs over the last few years he's been pretty good.

He’s an expert at evaluating QBs not one of the media talking heads that all say the same thing. I bet you thought he was crazy in 2018 when he ranked Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen above mayfield Darnold and Rosen. Or last year when he had Herbert above Tua.

His criticisms of Fields mechanics are warranted which is why he ranked him so low. Wilson is the most accurate QB and throws the prettiest ball so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he’s better than Lawrence.

His comps are

Wilson -> Mahomes, Rodgers

Lawrence -> Luck, Elway

    • I'm open to the idea of other positions that aren't WR and OT because the class for both is deep
    • Overall, Smith will get a lot of buzz. He had some blood clot issues 2 years ago I think (all is OK now), but somebody will grab him. He was a very high regarded recruit coming out of HS.

    • 4th and final year?  how long would you give him, his contract is up after this?   Banogu has shown next to nothing. I stand by saying its bold to count on these guys.  I'll be surprised if either earns a second contract
    • Year after year?   This will be Turay's 4th year, and his ankle injury wiped out the better part of two seasons.   This will be Banogu's 3rd year,  and he was decent his first year,  and Covid wiped out his 2nd year.   The staff is not being stubborn.    The fan base is being impatient.    It's not like you haven't heard or read the story Ballard tells about the Colts trading away Jerry Hughes a year too soon before.     They both get this year to show what they have and then we'll have a better idea of where each player stands.
