Gavin Annual Mock Draft 2021 Round 4

Recommended Posts

With the 116th pick the Vikings select Spencer Brown OT from UNI

I think it may be in best interest of Minnesota to cut ties with Riley Reiff saving 13.75 million and moving Brian O'Neill to LT.  Brown COULD possibly move in to start on the right side or if not, he would be a nice piece to have for the future.  He's BIIIIGGGGG and he does have some skills.

*On a side note, I am hoping he will be wearing the horseshoe after this year's draft IRL*

Titans & @csmopar are OTC

@chad72 @danlhart87 Who would you like there? @csmopar asked us to pick for him.

Darius Stills West Virginia      DL5T   ???

I'd say Brevin Jordan, TE from Miami, mainly because Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis are FAs, and all top 10 WRs are gone but a top 5 TE is still on the board, IMO. Plus, with the Titans' play action being so effective, TEs flourish real well.

We have had ONLY 2 TEs drafted (versus 20 WRs) and we are into the middle of Round 4. :)

Good pick.  I see most mocks had him going 6th round and I think that is a MISTAKE!  He has pretty good hands and runs good routes (at least the games over the last few years I watched him while he played for the Illini).  Not sure why he is not higher on some lists but then again, all those lists are like.......well you know the rest LOL!!

I followed him a bit in his early days. He went to a rival of one of my teams, and IIRC grew up close to me. He started at USC. Good measurables but never got it going at USC. Did OK at IL. He had a lot of comp at USC, but surprised he didn't have a bit more production at IL. They didn't play IU IIRC, so only recall seeing him play a couple times. I do recall him having a great game against one of the MI teams a few years ago. Good prospect though for a later round pick. Might just be a late bloomer that will excel with a larger route tree and better QB.

Minnesota is on the clock

@coltsfanmurf is OTC

I'm surprised SS didn't go earlier. I'm still surprised he chose to sit out after not leaving for the NFL in 19.

He was a handful a couple years ago. I think he'll be a productive guy once the rust shakes off.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have not had a good receiving back since Bell left. It has been a hodge podge of backs after James Conner's first year breakthrough success fizzled out the last 2 years. With that in mind, they draft this playmaking RB who put on a show at the Senior Bowl:

Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina

@Archer and The Seattle Seahawks are on the clock

Just Round 4. Things have slowed down a bit with this mock lately.

Plus, work has ramped up big time for me and next week, the beginning of the month is a go live implementation for me I will be swamped with as well.

I didn't know anything about him except that he's #97 on the tankathon.com top 100 players.  This was truly a shot in the dark, with no knowledge of the player whatsoever.

Well it was a great shot in the dark lol. He was a 1000+ yard guy in 19. IMO, should have left for the NFL, but probably wanted to come back since the 19 class was crazy good. Then he chose to sit out 20. Very similar situation to UGA's transfer QB. Both will suffer draft drops for choosing to stay, and then choosing to sit out.

Before this wraps up I wanna say thank you to @chad72for an outstanding mock draft commissioner this year. He did an awesome job! And thank you to all those who helped as co-commissioners and participants as GM a well. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Now it’s time to focus on FA in Real life and then the draft. My favorite part of the offseason!

I think we should re-run the 4 round mock in a few weeks after FA has started. This mock was already thrown off by the Wentz trade.

Yup. This was a good exercise to get folks thinking. I think the best time to do a board mock is a few weeks before the draft, after a lot of the FA dominos has tumbled. I almost did a flash mock last year the week before draft. Short clock, and perhaps scheduled windows

The real draft is April 29th, 2021.

So I would say that starting any mock after April 1st or 1st week would be best when most of the FA dust would have settled and most trades done prior to draft day, especially if one wants to do 7 rounds with compensatory picks.

Scheduled time is probably best but knowing our mock draft history, most picks would be chosen by the commish or be a PM pick that the commish would need to keep track of. It would most likely be best for 1 hour time frames and if you go from 7 am to 11 pm ET, it will give you half a round with 16 picks in a day with a 1 hour time frame. So, for 7 rounds, it would take about 15 days of work if you include compensatory picks.

It depends on my work schedule, I would need a LOT of help from others to make it work, more like about 5 commissioners and co-commissioners totally that can make themselves available on and off and it doesn't just fall on me or a 2nd person to do it all.
