Gavin Annual Mock Draft Game GM Sign Up For 2021 NFL Draft

Recommended Posts

This is probably a bit early, but I'm really looking forward to doing this year's Gavin Mock Draft. So we'll get sign ups going.  If folks don't know, Gavin was a longtime poster and Colts fan who loved to talk NFL draft with us all. He passed away a few years ago due to complications related to spina bifida. In his memory, we have this annual draft game tradition going.

I'll be the commish, @csmopar and @danlhart87 will serve as co-commish. ALL 32 teams are up for grabs, first one to call it, gets it. First one to post here claiming a team gets it. We will sign up for the first team in the beginning. Once we get to the weekend, if we do not have 32 GMs, we will open it for a second team sign up.

First round will start February 16th.  Will run with last year's rules with some tweaks. 2 hour clock time.  Email picks to commish (me) or @csmopar or @danlhart87 ahead of time, minimum of top 3 choices (can be position or BPA) if not able to be online. If no pick is sent at the end of 2 hours, the top ranked player remaining using CBS Sports will be selected.  This will be BPA at a listed position of need for a team. If a pick list is sent in, we will give you 1 hour AFTER those 2 hours to make that pick before going to your list.

Operating on a 2 strike rule. You can miss one pick without issue, miss a 2nd pick without first sending a list, the team will go to "auto draft" from that point forward with the above BPA at position of need being selected unless a different GM wishes to take over. Same rules as last year, trades are allowed using this year's picks only.  ALL trades after both teams have agreed to one, MUST be submitted  via Private Message and APPROVED by one of the commissioners (me or @csmopar or @danlhart87) .  Again, BOTH team GMs MUST submit a PM to the commissioners in order for the trade to be approved. If you do not, the trade will not be approved.   The approving commissioner will be the  ONLY one to announce the trade on the thread. This is to help eliminate confusion and ensure accuracy as some trades happened and weren't caught and led to some confusion in later rounds.

Clock time will be 2 hours, Draft times daily are 8 am to 10pm, no picks will be made outside these hours. We will do the first 4 rounds and then go from there.

Below is the list of NFL Teams, NOTE: This is NOT, I Repeat NOT the draft order.

Contemplating Houston.

Would like to trade their 3rd and (2) 4ths for 2021 5th.

I will think about it.

Haha!!! If you are in the mood to actually do it, BOB, Dolphins are on the line. :)

So do you want Houston?

I will think about it. Put me on the maybe list, if it comes down to it and need another poster.

I used to do full offseason mocks with FA and all, with team salary cap spreadsheets. Was kinda my thing.

I gave it major consideration to get stuff going last month but dealing with getting my house ready to sell and usually just using my phone, decided against it. Didn't feel like dusting off the laptop. Maybe next year.

I think this mock tradition is very cool though.

Damn, I a bit too late for all the fun teams this year, but I will absolutely be joining in once again! It’s always a blast!

As for a team, I’ll go ahead and snag the Eagles! Thanks for running this again, and here’s to Gavin, who leaves us all with a heavy heart during draft season!

Are you interested in participating? It is a lot of fun and you become well informed with those who will be playing in the NFL. We have done this the last 4 or so years. We named it after a fellow forum member who was popular here and left us unexpectedly. He loved the draft.

Possibly. I play the draft game website this time of year and I scout a lot of players that way, but being honest I don’t watch or follow college ball in any way. I haven’t watched an hour of college football in at least the last 5 years. The last full college game I watched was a game with RG3 the season he went from being a little known no one to #2 overall.  And I only watched that game because I was at work doing nothing, and it was on TV.

Let me think on it for a day or two. I’ll be really bad at it. haha

There is a ranking list to look at before making your pick. Pretty much all you have to do is look at your teams needs and decide what player to pick.

I haven't watched any college football for years myself and I seem to do pretty good.

For me it does make me more aware of the players entering the draft that I don't see from not watching college ball.
