OhioColt updated Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

Based on research tonight here is an updated thought leading up to the draft...

56.7m cap space 2021

AC – * updated officially retired – frees up 16m more in cap space

72.7m cap space 2021

FA Signings – 46.2m cap space

WR JuJu Smith Schuster – 17.5m

LB Eric Wilson (SAM) – From UDFA to Stud LB.  Offer 8m /yr (6m max ideal imo)

LDE Josh Sweat via Eagles for 2021 4th Round pick.  Potential upgrade Round 2- 3.  New starter Houston cut.  ~1m contract take over for 1 year.  Rookie contract expires which in 2022 Colts will have plenty of cap space to resign long-term along with Leonard, Nelson, and Smith.

Colts FA’s lost

Rivers – let him retire coach HS FB

Autry – cut - Muhammad replaces Autry as new starter

Hooker – cut We have Ibraheim Campbell as 3rd FS / SS backup assume

Clark – Cut wanted to retire RT

Wilson STP – cut

Houston – cut via Eagles trade for Josh Sweat

Rhodes –played 87% snaps on a 1.5m contract overpriced to resign unless agrees 2m/year deal

Hilton – replace with JuJu

Colts Resigning’s

Carrie STP 1 / 2m – solid back

Hunt 2 /950k

Green LT/STP 2 / 950k

Burton 1 / 3.5m – played 33% of snaps

Smith ERFA 1 / 850 k STP

Stallworth - 1 / 750 k * updated colts already extended

Walker JR – 2 / 4m

MAC – 2 yr / 4.5m

Muhammad (starter) – 4 / 3m with Turay as 2nd RDE

Mack 3/2m (47.7)

Odum 27 yo STP RFA UDFA 1.2m or original tender 2.24m

Dulin 2 / 1m STP *update Colts already extended

Pascal RFA retain pay 2 year / 7.7m or place 2nd Round tender 3.42m

Brissett – resign pay backup salary 1 year / 8m (not ideal situation but best can do until next year)

Left with ~10.08m left to draft/season play

Draft

1) LT Jackson Carman (Clemson) nastiness could go well with Nelson.  If Nelson moves to LT could see the Colts go after LG Trey Smith.  In 2017 Nelson was the best LG in the nation with Smith second.

2) ) LDE Victor Dimukeje (Duke) – Speedy rusher played both Edges.  Formidable tandem Josh Sweat and Mohammad rotation.  Keep our Edges Fresh and Fast.

3) WR Nico Collins (Michigan) – 2019 led Big 10 receivers 0.0% drop rate and 81.3% contested catch rate and had the highest broken-tackle rate.  Wouldn't mind a RCB BPA here to replace Rhodes unless Rhodes takes a 2m contract on a one year extension deal.

4) Traded to Eagles for Josh Sweat

5) SS Divine Deablo (Virginia Tech) - has elite size and excellent speed.  Very strong player/good tackler.  Bit tight in his hips limit his range.

6) WR Emeka Emezie (NC St) size and speed to separate.  Willing blocker in Run game.  Impressive hands in contested engagements.  Impressive layout diving catch vs Virginia 6:13 3Q

7) CB Bryan Mills (North Carolina Central)

So we play next year without a starting QB?

So have Brissett and Eason as QBs.  Lean of the ground game and have quality WRs and young RBs and Edge players.  Next year should have 40m in cap space after resigning players minus Sweat’s new contract extension.  Plenty of capital to go after a more pass happy QB next season.

I do not want Juju on our team

Not a big fan of his logo dances either.  Golladay is my preferred choice with hopes on enticing Stanford to join us next season.

Gave JuJu the nod here being younger and metric of YAC over Golladay.

Next season our top priorities are QB, TEs, CBs and ILB.

I would be okay trading a mid-round pick for a pass rusher.

I think we need a clear upgrade at QB, but Rivers probably comes back. Hopefully, we draft one too.

I do like the idea of signing a top WR, but I'm not sure the top WR's get as much as they think they will this offseason.
