Me too. I loathe the Patriots but am enjoying Brady in Tampa a lot. I like that all season he has been sticking in to Bill and Kraft who believe they walk on water. That whole org is insufferable and now they are just like every other team. Below .500 and looking for a QB.

It is pretty cool what they are doing in their 40s. They got the prime time slot over Mahomes.

No, Mahomes and the KC Chiefs, as the #1 seed, get to choose their slot and chose the afternoon slot in cold KC weather.

I don't see how Colts fans still hate the Patriots so much. After the 03 and 04 losses, the Colts beat them multiple times, and got the ultimate revenge and redemption in the 06 AFCCG.

The Colts never got revenge against the Chargers or Steelers.

And I get the Patriots vs Colts in the Luck era, but the Colts were not even competitive in those games. It was JV vs varsity.

The hate feels contrived now.

Teams do not choose their slot.  The NFL decides based on ratings.

In the past, I thought they did. I remember Patriots choosing Saturday night a lot of times and the Broncos choosing the later afternoon slot for their divisional round games as the #1 seed. I am certain about that. I will try to find more information if I can. It could be different this year though.

Yeah. I have not heard that but would be interested to know if the teams can choose.

I’m a Ravens fan and still hate the Patriots. We beat them twice up there in the playoffs , but I will never forget the shenanigans and cheating. They crapped all over the Ravens and Colt organizations when they deflated footballs , to deflect blame from themselves.
If some of you Colt fans want to forgive them, god bless you. Not me. They are right there with the Yankees, Red Sox, Steelers , and Duke Basketball !

Great post, I still can't stand them and I also hate the Steelers who the REFS seem to cheat for them. See SB 40 for example, and when they play us there are always 3 or 4 bogus calls that go against us. The 1995 AFC Title Game is another example of that and 3 weeks ago is another, it is endless.

Still looking. One thing I know for sure is in years past, they did the Sunday divisional round games at 1 pm/4:30 pm ET combo. For TV sakes, they have moved it to 3:00 pm/6:30 pm ET slots.

Look at this difference between 2019/2020 playoffs and 2018/2019 playoffs

You are right. They are the Duke basketball of the NFL for getting breaks. My animosity with the Steelers goes beyond my Ravens days, back to the losses of the Baltimore Colts in the 1975 and 1976 playoffs.

Yeah everytime you play the Pats - well when they had Brady, Steelers and Packers regardless you are playing the REFS to. It is obvious to the fan that has watched for 40 or 50 years.

We all saw it. The bogus roughing the passer when Brady flopped, or the late pass interference penalty flag when he whined.

Some of the calls we had go against us 3 weeks ago at Pitt and non-calls were comical. Same when we played GB this year. Pats used to get away with holding a lot on offense and defense.

Yeah I still don't believe that was an INT but Lamar took over in the 2nd half. We couldn't do much on offense in the 2nd half. You guys probably still would've won without that INT.

Who knows. Sometimes games can change momentum. I don’t know, I just remember more bad calls and shenanigans involving the Steelers and Patriots. I will never forget Tomlin trying to blatantly trip Jacoby Jones on a punt return and getting fined 100 K !

Yeah, that had no place in the NFL. Mike Tomlin should have been suspended a few games for that, IMO. That would have been the right thing. Now, they replay it like it was some "blooper" to be entertaining.

The momentum changer was when JT fumbled and I love JT but that was a killer IMO. After that it was all Ravens. JT in the 2nd half of the season looked really good. I see him as a 20 per carry a game guy.

I guess.

Honestly, the Patriots are amazing to me now. Their run is unprecedented.

Hate the Patriots and hate TB. Too many years of Peyton vs manning for me to like Thomas lol. And cheering against the pats just got mundane this year with how horrible they were. So... Go saints!

It was not mundane for me. I loved watching them crater and Bill turning into an excuse machine. So much for Do Your Job this season.

I know for the conference champ games they alternate every year between the 3 and 6:30 slots. I believe the AFC gets the 6:30 this year as the Packers/Niners had it last year.

I would imagine that if the Chiefs did get to choose this year for the divisional round, they would have picked the Saturday slot to give the Browns one less day to prepare/rest.

    • I think I need to clarify something…,  I’m NOT suggesting Irsay isn’t filthy rich.  That the Colts aren’t sound financially.     All I’m saying is that from time to time the Colts might have cash flow problems.  Life as a small market team.   Nothing wrong with that.  The Colts do this (The “0” singing bonus) for a reason.  It benefits them.  And I think it’s smart business.   That’s all.
    • I don't believe any of this post-hoc spin. He took less to play home. And even if we did believe it - OK... he did take less. What about the 100 other FAs we could have gotten?      This is exactly it... it feels like Ballard is not proactive... he's grabbing to the status quo and holding onto it for dear life. Like the status quo has actually given us anything to brag about? The Texans let go of one of their best defensive linemen... to replace him with a better one. The Chiefs let go of one of their best receivers... to replace him a better one... Those are teams that are not happy with what they had(and they were better than us) and tried to actually improve. Could that backfire? Sure. But at least they are trying to compete. What are we trying for?    I wasn't the biggest fan of the idea of giving record setting contract to Sneed while also giving up significant draft compensation too. IMO you should only do that for elite players and as good as Sneed is IMO he's not quite at that level. But with that said -yes, there aren't many high level FAs remaining on the market. Because while other teams were busy chasing the high level FAs, Ballard was busy giving 14M contract to a backup nose tackle and resigning his PED implicated 31 year old starting nose tackle 40M contract.  I wouldn't hold my breath quite honestly. With the OL there was precedent of them being great previously. With this DL there really hasn't been. We've been at the bottom of the league in creating pressures and affecting the QB for years. And the personnel will be the same more or less. A lot of people putting a lot of hope into the new DL coach. I liked that hire too, but you have to give the guy something to work with and apart from Buckner the rest of the group has never been more than... solid, and in a lot of cases much less than solid.    Yep... it always comes back to this... hoping our draft picks will pan out. The problem with that of course is that over the long term most teams in the league have about the same success rate in the draft. And while other teams use all avenues to improve their team(draft, trades, FA), it seems like Ballard has resigned himself to the draft. He will draft and live or die by it. He's just too stuck in his ways and too stubborn to make any significant changes to his approach.  That's the problem with Ballard. It's never exactly doom and gloom. I am never worried with him that this team will be horrible and hopeless. I worry that it will be mediocre... forever! Which it has been. He gives you just enough hope for your to think "maybe this year... maybe this guy will get better... maybe this draft pick will pan out", but in reality we are just treading water.    Yeah, Sneed could have been good for this defense... oh well...
    • He turned out to be very good, but at the time of the pick, I thought we could have selected other players, as we were in desperate need of defensive players. But Addison played very well, better than I expected.
    • You don’t like Jordan Addison?   I thought he had a very nice rookie season for the Vikings?
    • Before Werner Houston took Dwayne Hopkins and after Werner Minn took Rhodes.   Werner was the turd between two very good players, one a potential Hall of Famer.
