yea there's no way Rivera would take him after the way he played at NE Cam is done and should just retire

Agreed nobody would dare pay him that price

I watched Pat McAfee discussing this on his show. The key here is "two years with incentives, $40-50 million." I don't believe these incentives are reported, but my guess is the contract is heavily structured on Cam performing at a high level and if he fails to do that, then he won't satisfy many of the incentives and it would be a cheap contract.

I can see Cam signing as a backup somewhere. I think teams aren't going to view him as starter quality right now. Schefter may have hit the pipe before tweeting this.

He's making next to nothing in NE now, and he hasn't earned a penny of that!. No way would Washington, or any team look at Cam, he's DONE! Arthur Blank just came out and said both Juilo Jones and Ryan are on the market. Washington would do a lot worse than get both of them. New England would be smart to look into that as well..

Cam will sign as a backup or if he's fortunate somewhere where he can compete for a starting job. The contract will not be much.

With a healthy off season, mini-camps, preseason and time to fully learn the playbook, Cam could be much improved from the crazy covid year he had to endure.

With Philip Rivers and Jacoby Brissett both set to hit free agency, 2020 fourth-round draft pick Jacob Eason is the only Colts quarterback currently under contract for next season. With a smart coaching staff/front office and a well-built, playoff-ready roster, Indianapolis won’t be looking to start from scratch with a young QB

Is it weird that I don't even want Cam as a backup in Indianapolis

No, but it's weird you even had the thought to type it out though. Lol dudes busted good, he has a better chance of trying to become a fullback than staying getting a job as a QB.

    • I think the biggest issue with this mock is it is assuming that filling spots on the OL is as simple as just that. We have a void at LT, so we trade our starting center to then draft one. Then we use another draft pick to get a new center. On paper, that fills the needs, but OL is so much more than that. This isn't Madden where you can insert any G with comparable skills and gets the same result. Chemistry is one of the biggest pieces of the puzzle for an OL and that's not plug and play. If you have members of your OL playing at a high level, you don't trade them away, because you're not just potentially weakening that position, but also the ones around it.   I'm all for out of the box thinking and appreciate your mocks presenting situations that most of us would never think of. With that, the further "out of the box" you get, the more criticism you'll typically get. With this one, I think the criticism is less with the players picked (I love Darrisaw, just not that high), and more to do with the disruption of OL chemistry that is never a good idea.
    • Tampa has been low key collecting a great overall team. There's a reason they're the champs, they just needed that lift from the QB. Can they sustain it for next year? There's a pretty good chance.
    • He'll get more than that.
    • This is where we differ, I don't think its an unwarranted tantrum.  I believe the team really is that bad.  Watson isn't the only one that wants out of there.  JJ watt made a big deal out of this and is gone now.   They can hold a grudge and make this difficult for both themselves and DW, or they can make the smarter move and trade him.  They dont have the money or picks to get a QB right now
    • I like your thinking in surrounding Wentz with more talent. That needs to happen.  I would do a few things differently: 1. If you sign Davis (or a Will Fuller, who is another good option), TY is now expendable. Time to say goodbye. Saves a ton in cap room too. 2. I sign Houston. The Colts need more help on the D-line, and Houston was their best DE. I keep him and let Autry walk.  3. I keep Joey Hunt. He's a good plug and play backup at C/G, and he won't cost much. Along with Pinter, the Colts have those two backup slots covered cheaply and effectively.   I'm in total agreement on Rhodes. A must keep.    Don't know what to think about the return on the Doyle trade. Right now, Banogu has minimal value as a borderline bust; Doyle is a solid if unspectacular TE 1, who has genuine value. Together, I'd think you could do better, but who knows? Given the lack of return, I think the Colts hold onto Banogu to see if they get lucky. Doyle would bring that 4th round pick all by himself, IMO.    I really like your first four picks in the draft. Jenkins is a fast riser, and will likely be gone by early in the 2nd round. He's not my first choice, but that's nit picking. If you want him and he's there at 29, you grab him. With Doyle gone, and an upgrade being needed anyway, getting the second best TE in the draft is a solid move.    Nice job. Thanks for the hard work.
