My First Mock Draft (Ever)

Recommended Posts

This is the first mock draft I have ever done. I did some research and checked multiple websites to check other drafts before doing mine. I'm going to put their picks first, then mine below. I highlighted players who were picked in different rounds so you know I didn't repeat myself.

Round 1 - Pick 1

Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

Round 2 - Pick 34

Stephen Hill, WR, GA Tech (x2), Reuben Randle, WR, LSU, Janoris Jenkins, CB, N Alabama, Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford, Alfonzo Denard, CB, Nebraska, Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers, Dwayne Allen, TE, Clemson, Harrison Smith, SS, Notre Dame, Chase Minnifield, CB, Virginia, Kevin Zeitler, G, Wisconsin, Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson, Jayron Hosley, CB, VA Tech, George Iloka, S, Boise State, Vinny Curry, DE/OLB, Marshall, Kendall Reyes, DT, UConn, Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

Round 3 - Pick 64

Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma, Dwight Jones, WR, UNC, Casey Hayward, CB, Vanderbilt, Emmanuel Acho, LB, Texas, Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma, Kendall Reyes, DT, UConn, Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia, Sean Spence, LB, Miami, Markelle Martin, S, Oklahoma State, Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri, Audie Cole, ILB, NC State, Lucas Nix, OG, Pitt, Dwight Bentley, CB, Louisiana-Lafayette, Hebron Fangupo, DT, Hawaii, Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington, Orson Charles, TE, Georgia

Round 4 - Pick 97

Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas, Jaye Howard, DT, Florida, James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada, Orson Charles, TE, Georgia, Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas, Vick Ballard, RB, Miss State, Nigel Bradham, ILB, FSU, Shaun Prater, CB, Iowa, Malik Jackson, DE, Tennessee, Tony Bergstrom, OG, Utah, Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina, Dwight Bentley, CB, Louisiana-Lafayette

Round 5 - Pick 136

Jermaine Kearse, WR, Washington, Derek Wolfe, DE, Cincinnati, Brian Quick, WR App State, David Molk, C, Michigan, Winston Guy, SS, Kentucky, Ryan Broyles, WR, Oklahoma, Rhett Ellison, TE, USC, Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri

Round 5 Comp - Pick 170

Devon Wylie, WR, Fresno State, James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada

Round 6 Comp - Pick 206

Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Poly, Reuben Randle, WR, LSU, Adrian Robinson, LB, Temple, Tim Fugger, DE, Vanderbilt

Round 7 - Picks 208, 214

Omoregie Uzzi, OG, GA Tech, Larry Black, DT, Indiana, Chris Rainey, WR, Florida, D'Anton Lynn, FS, Penn State, Brian Peters, S, Northwestern, T.Y. Hilton, WR, FL Int'l

Round 7 Comp - Pick 253

Lennon Creer, RB, LA Tech, Mason Cloy, C, Clemson, James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada, Trevin Wade, CB, Arizona

My Draft Picks

1- Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford - Obvious pick regardless of the hype of RG III (both will be good, but Luck will be that much better)

34 - Janoris Jenkins, CB, N Alabama - We need a CB to pair with Powers

64 - Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington - We get our NT

97 - Orson Charles, TE, Georgia - Luck will need a safety valve against the rush

136 - Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri - I think we'll be running more, needing more blockers who can also be a receiving threat

170 - James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada - Colts get a fast, hard hitting LB to groom into a starter, will be ST beast

206 - Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Poly - Need more bodies in secondary to guard against injury

208 - Omoregie Uzzi, OG, GA Tech - Need more bodies on O-line

214 - Chris Rainey, WR, Florida - Speedster on ST returns, kick-offs

253 - Mason Cloy, C, Clemson - Mr Irrelevant, no reason offered (lol)

Hope you appreciate the work and don't destroy me too badly! I wanted to get a WR earlier, just didn't see the value versus need.

I would like this draft. Maybe I would change the Egnew pick to a WR and use the 7th rounder where you picked Rainey on either a third TE or RB. I only say that because I don't think Rainey will be there at that spot. I like how you included your big board to give us an idea of what you were thinking (or at least I'm assuming that was what it was for).

nice draft.. I would take Fleener IF he s available and though Jenkins is talented .. I don't see him fitting here too much off field issues.. Fleener not there I would choose Denard @ CB or Zeitler.. ( he can play OG/RT) I don't think we need another C for the last pick... I like the two TE's.., two CB... and wou,d get another WR for the last pick that can be a returner also or anther DL

Good Job

After some of the moves this last week, I am modifying my draft a little.

My Draft Picks

1- Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford - Obvious pick regardless of the hype of RG III (both will be good, but Luck will be that much better)

34 - Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford - Gives Luck his security blanket and one he is comfortable with.

64 - Jamell Fleming, CB, Oklahoma - Solid coverage CB

97 - Brian Quick, WR, App St - Gives us a WR to develop into #2

136 - Hebron Fangupo, DT, Hawaii - Gives a nasty NT

170 - James-Michael Johnson, ILB, Nevada - Colts get a fast, hard hitting LB to groom into a starter, will be ST beast

206 - Asa Jackson, CB, Cal Poly - Need more bodies in secondary to guard against injury

208 - Omoregie Uzzi, OG, GA Tech - Need more bodies on O-line

214 - Chris Rainey, WR, Florida - Speedster on ST returns, kick-offs

253 - Mason Cloy, C, Clemson - Mr Irrelevant, no reason offered (lol)

I only changed a few spots, but after reading others, I realize TE & CB are the top 2 needs after QB.

other then qb position why did we loose so many games? we couldn't stop the run or pass and we had no run game. the popular pick for our 2nd round pick is fleener, hill, jenkins but when u really think about it we were at our best when we had a great ss in sanders. im leaning more towards mark barron he would impact our defense immediatly. zbikowski is decent but he's not great in coverage like barron and cant hit like him. barron might fall late but if not we should trade a 4th or 5th rounder to move up. dwayne allen or orsen charles will be there in the 3rd.

I enjoyed watching Alabama play last season and Barron became one of my favorites. But I don't see him falling to the second round and given the current situation, in my opinion it isn't worth trading up to get him while losing a pick in the process. If he falls, then I'm sure he'll be the BPA and that's what we're going to draft, but in all likelihood, us getting him is a stretch. No matter how much I would enjoy it!

One thing I found odd was how in your research section of the post, Randle was listed as a possibility for the round 2 pick and the round 6 pick, but none of the picks in between. Not sure if it was unintentional or if that's just the crazy variety in all the mock drafts you looked up. Ha ha. Great job compiling all of that, though! Much appreciated!
