11-5 no playoffs put in perspective

Before this year only 2 11-5 teams did not make the playoffs since the nfl expanded to 16 games.  1985 Broncos. When only 5 teams made it, and 2008 patriots when 6 teams made it.  For 7 teams to make it and go 11-5 and not make it is almost statistically impossible but it's happening today.   I wonder how many 10-6 teams would have missed the playoffs if there was 7 teams.

It only happens if the Colts win and don’t get in. 
All other teams get in at 11-5.

Even if every 10-5 team wins and Colts miss the playoffs, I will still be happy with the season. That is a set of freak circumstances and people shouldn’t get hung up on the exception. Yeah there are games we should have won but also games we should of lost. 10-6 or 11-5 and missing the playoffs is still a darn good season.  This team has exceeded expectations no matter what happens from here.
