Make a trade with Andrew Luck's wife to get his rights

Ha... We actually do have his rights at the moment. If he were to unretire he'd still be a Colt.

I'd be happy to pick up a defensive end.

We may have his NFL rights but his wife has the rights to his heart, mind and will.  Lol   I agree that an edge rusher is the most pressing need.  Offensive tackle depth is another. I trust Ballard to sought that out but don’t expect him to make a trade by the deadline.

Yep, I’ll honestly be surprised if we do much.

Yeah trades at the deadline are either teams getting rid of players to go full rebuild or to go all in on winning it this year.  I don’t think the a Colts fit either of those.

I would not give up more than a sixth rounder but a flyer on A J green would be nice .

He has a no trade clause and he doesn't want out. Julio Jones in a pipe dream, but I can dream..

Do you think we could convince Pete Carroll to give us Russel Wilson for a lifetime supply of chewing gum?

My God why has Ballard not thought of this!  I mean I can make any trade I want in Madden as long as I control both teams and make them do the trade.  Being a GM in the NFL is easy!

For the record I know you were being sarcastic I was building off it.

With TY having problems being healthy, we should get a WR... should be possible to find a legit target as need a reliable WR that can help Rivers.

I don’t know man there is no one really out there.

I just watched that as well lmao I don’t know if there’s an proof of this. Not against a 3rd or 4th round pick though.

Not when Philly is winning their division on the heels of their D while barely hanging on with injuries to their OL and WRs.

To be honest, I liked JJAW, their 2nd year WR from Stanford they drafted last year, I don't think he is used right on their offense, maybe we can talk to them about it since he is at least healthy? Especially with Fulgham emerging, I don't think he will see the field much with Ward and Reagor for the other 2 wide outs and Goedert and Rodgers at TE.

Isn't he the same player as Pittman?

Interesting rumor.  The DE position is one Ballard is always looking to improve on.  How many times have we heard him say you can't have enough pass rushers.  Since Philly is in the hunt I would be inclined to think they might want a player instead of a pick.  I don't know about their LB's  but maybe Walker for Barnett would strengthen their team and get us Barnett.

Yes, good point, he is, big body on the outside that can go up and get it. Byron Pringle will be more speedier.

We definitely miss the speed element without TY and Campbell. Just convert Hines to WR then and play him more in 3 WR formations with an RB included. :)

I'd be willing to take a flier on someone like Ryan Anderson. A second rounder in 2017 that does not touch the field anymore since Washington is loaded at EDGE. I'd trade a conditional 6th or 7th for him.

According to Rap Sheet he is rumored to be available.

    • First of all we don’t know if that report is true or not.  So I would be careful as taking it as the gospel truth.  I mean it’s not that out there to think Rivers retired on his own.   If you go back and look at what Ballard said when he talked about Rivers in his end of the year presser it’s very similar to what Reich said.   https://www.colts.com/news/chris-ballard-philip-rivers-ty-hilton-xavier-rhodes-2020-season-press-conference   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30687157/frank-reich-says-wants-philip-rivers-indianapolis-colts-qb-2021   Yes Reich went a step further to say hey I want Rivers to be my starter but both men pretty much said hey we think Rivers can still play and he has to decide if he wants too.   Now just for sake of argument let’s say the report is true, the last quote from Reich in the Rivers story pretty much confirms what I’ve been saying all along:  "This isn't a one-man show. We have to do what's best for the team, and as an organization as we sit down and talk about Philip, what other options are out there, that will all get discussed.”   Wells furthered that by also saying:  “Whether Rivers returns next season isn't strictly up to the quarterback and Reich. General manager Chris Ballard and owner Jim Irsay will also have a say.”   So no I don’t think Ballard just said forget what Frank wants I am doing what I want to do as you made it sound.  I think they sat down as an organization and came to a concusses agreement.  Further proof of that is the report said the Colts might have pushed Rivers out the door not Ballard himself.  the GM acting on his own without regards to the coach is what Grigson did and lead to so much friction with Pagano.  All reports have said Ballard doesn’t operate that way.  Big Colts decisions get made as a unit between Irsay, Ballard, Reich.  Do they always agree?  I am sure they don’t but I am sure they work together to try to figure what they think is best as a unit.  Further proof of that was when Irsay said during the draft both Ballard and Reich were raving about Taylor and how they would love to have him and it was Irsay who said well then why don’t you guys go get him, meaning trade up.     That’s been my point all along it isn’t just Ballard making decision on his own regardless of what others think which is how your original post came across.  It’s always been them working as a unit.  Does that mean Reich or Ballard always get exactly what they want?  No.
    • Not saying they would want him as a starter. Maybe as a better backup. Chances are though they would want a veteran if they draft a young QB. I go back to what Ballard said about another team seeing Eason throw. Just a thought. I doubt that happens.
    • If they did get Stafford...I think you would see Hilton return on a very reasonable two-year deal. But the big signing would be a FA WR. You don't get "near the end of his prime stud QB" and not give him top fight weapons.
    • Tough choice. Definitely hasn't been the same player from the past two season from a numbers standpoint, but he is still more reliable than some of the other receivers we have (with the exception of maybe Pittman).
    • Pittsburgh, unlike the Patriots, is in cap hell, you can check it out.    Patriots have the luxury of going after Watson. I can only shudder to think what Watson can do for that team once the Covid opt outs on the Patriots D come back and they have a potent offense to go along with it. However, if I am Watson or Rodgers, I would be/stay in the NFC where there would be less competition outside the NFC West, Packers and Bucs, IMO once Brees retires with all the young guns at QB in the AFC.
