He kept the Colts in the game today.  Great game from him today.  This was why they paid him that money.  Jacoby or Eason don’t make that comeback.  He deserved the heat he got last week and deserves all the praise he should get this week.

Yes, very well put

He threw some crisp/beautifully placed passes. He was also the poised leader we needed him to be today.

I’ve been one of the people saying he’s shown diminished arm strength, or at least inconsistent arm strength. But really I think it comes down to whether he’s being pressured or not. I mean, I also think his arm is consistent, but if Rivers has time/can step into it, he’s good to go.

Still, I think his lack of mobility is a killer at times. But he does navigate the pocket and usually evades initial pressure well.

Trying to force a connection with TY has been part of Rivers' problem, to date.  It's time to give up on that and just feed Johnson, Burton or whoever.

I still think you can win with Rivers over the next few years, but the O-line and defense have to be better and more consistent.  I've heard Kevin Bowen and others say his arm is dead.  I don't see it.  He had a pretty live arm today.  Don't confuse an unorthodox looking pass with a dead arm.

I agree. Someone else pointed it out but the real key is for him to have time and be able to plant and throw. He’s not like Rodgers or Mahomes that can throw darts from any position. It’s not a knock necessarily but it just shows that they need to keep him protected.

I agree it’s no mistake that his mistakes come when he’s under pressure.  He needs a clean pocket.

He was good enough today.  Really only a couple of throws I had a problem with:  the INT and the overthrow of Johnson for the TD.  Other than that, he was legit today.  The defense let the team down in the first half, then got their crap together thankfully.

They can trade Watson for 2nd rounder lol

I mean if they want to trade him for a second rounder quick get Chris Ballard whoever is running them their number.  Dang it O’Brien you couldn’t hold on until the trade deadline...

More for a quarter.  They gave up six points the rest of the way.

4-2 is good going into the bye. We needed this win bad. Time to get healthy over the next two weeks. We'll need our players from now on.

At the beginning of the year, how many here would’ve been right pleased to be sitting at 4-2, I wonderrrrrrr.

I would have said 4-2, maybe 5-1.  I would have flipped the Jags and Vikings game and said the Browns was a toss up.  Still this isn’t the part of the schedule I was worried about.  That’s still to come.  Remember the Colts were 5-2 last year when things feel apart.  They could be in the same position this year if they beat the Lions.  Hopefully they learned from last year.

I had us at 4-2 to start the season so I am right on cue. It looked bad early though. I had us losing to the Vikings and Browns though in the 1st 6. We beat the Vikings but lost to the Jags so it offset anyway.

I thought 4-2 was the worst-case scenario at the beginning of the year. Now I'm happy to be at this point at the bye. We need to do some damage to do some good teams to make the playoffs, but if you think about it, a 5-5 record makes us 9-7 in a year with a 7 seed. That's probably good enough. I think that's a fair goal for the next ten games as a fan. Anything else is gravy and can win us the division (though the Titans are tough right now).

I think we beat the Lions, sweep the Texans, beat the Jags 2nd time around and split with the Titans. That is 9 wins anyway at worse.

I think Titans take South Colts fight for 6 or 7

Who won again?  Oh yeah the Colts.  If you are tanking why do you comeback from 21-0?

Let's give this some thought . The Colts (The best D on paper) were impotent on both sides of the ball unable to accomplish a single thing so it was 14-0. Then the first play of the second quarters it was 21-0 against who? A team in the AFC North cellar where they have been there for about forever. Add to that fact they have lost a game to another cellar dweller in the Jags. The Jags!! When you watch the other team score repeatedly while you do nothing it is called tanking.

Riiiiiight, they are tanking they decided to beat the Jets the team that looks like a lock for the number one over all draft pick and they had the bengals right where they wanted them and just stink at tanking so bad they screwed up...

you can’t be serious about this whole tanking thing.

The Colts aren't tanking this year, they are just an inconsistent team. The Jets are tanking, the 2011 Colts were tanking for Luck, this is an average team IMO.

Football is a 60m game

We played bad for half of it

The other half we made the plays to win

We can hope so but the meat of their schedule start after the Lions game which could be tough. No excuse for having to play catch up. None.

Yep, teams are forcing us to beat them with someone other than TY and Rivers adjusted by throwing TDs to Pascal and the TEs. Finally, I saw some early down passing called by Frank. I’d like to see that continue even if the game script is positive with us having a lead.

Our D played Jekyll and Hyde again, getting annoyed with it.

    • I got mad the night they took Dorsett and I still get mad when I think about it.  Look at all the good players he passed on for him.  I wanted Xavier Rhodes in that draft and they could have had him.  No single first round draft pick upsets me as much as Phillip freaking Dorsett.
    • Grigson didn’t hit on another high draft pick until Ryan Kelly after Hilton.  Just goes to speak about how good Andrew Luck was that those teams were as good as they were until Luck literally feel apart from carrying the team on his shoulders.
    • Irsay or no other pro-sports owner is strapped for cash.  Look at the lifestyles they live.  These guys are swimming in money Scrooge McDuck style.  They like to get you to think that they are so that they have to pay for less things like the a new stadium and give them friendly tax breaks but they aren’t.  These guys are super rich even the small market teams like the Colts.  If you want to think they are strapped for cash go a head but we are going to agree to disagree.
    • I agree. I cannot recall who else he drafted in 2015 but I could not understand why he drafted the WR out of Miami at #29 that year.
    • If I may….    I’ll share some information that I’ve had for about 4 months.   It may or may not surprise you.  This is what I tried to send you the other night but somehow screwed up.      These are the big signing bonuses the Colts have given out over the years when the players 2nd contract came around:  this is from Spotrac.    Nelson:   $31m Leonard:  $20m Smith:      $15m Taylor:      $10.24m Stewart:    $5m      BUT…..    I also found this….   *** When Ballard signed Buckner to 4/84 his SB was 0. *** When Ballard signed Kelly to 4/50 his signing bonus was 0. *** When Ballard signed Moore to 4/33 his signing bonus was 0.  *** When Ballard signed MAC to 3/19 his SB was 0.    To be clear, no agent lets their client sign a deal like this out of the goodness of their heart to help the team.  I think it stands to reason they get something in return.  And I think it’s a higher amount of guaranteed money.  That’s money the player would get even if the team cut the player before the contract was done.   Guaranteeing a higher percentage of money doesn’t cost the Colts anything if the team is confident the player will be in the roster for the life of the contract.    I view this as a sign of a small market team.   The Colts wanted to do this.  It’s to their advantage.  I’m not blaming the Colts for doing this, I think it’s smart business.  But I think it’s a sign that from time to time, Irsay needs a little help so he doesn’t have to write a large check.     This is my view.   I welcome input from all.    @w87r   @Superman  @GoColts8818
