Brady VS Foles Thursday Night

Foles has shown the reason he is a backup QB and he is now facing the GOAT Thursday night. I think we will see the reinstatement of Mitch Trubisky sooner than later.

Nagy has to stick with Foles for another full game.  The flip flopping of QB's hurts all involved.   I think their career numbers show what they really are and those numbers are very similar.

On a separate matter, I don't agree that Brady is the GOAT.   Since there are several QB's who I think can be argued to be the greatest, I usually choose not to label any with the title.

This game could be the nail in the coffin for Foles, a career backup. He caught lightning in a bottle with the Eagles for a great 4 game stretch and the SB. However, like the Jaguars found out last year, that knee jerk reaction to bench Minshew to justify the money they paid Foles came back to bite them.  Foles is like a relief pitcher, not a good starting pitcher.

But then, he may need a few more weeks with his receivers to get going, so he might get more equity with the Bears beyond this Thursday night game with 10 days to prepare for the next one. 3 games tops is what I give Foles to show the Bears he is worth their investment.

I always felt it would have been harder for us to beat Trubisky because he could move well out of the pocket and that breaks zones down for completions, something Foles could not do.

I agree but I always look back to what Marino said of his career that being he would trade all of his numbers for one SB ring. Brady has  bunch of them and yes one player does not win games but he was an assassin in the late part of games. A lot of folks say Montana was the best. Brady is like a recurring nightmare.

He's definitely up there.  Championships certainly matter.   I just prefer to go off my eye test.  He just isn't up there with Manning, Montana or Marino for me.  I have him in my top 5 that I have seen play.   Maybe at 4, maybe at 5.  I really liked Steve Young as well.

Brady is a system QB .   He has a weak arm and is highly overrated .  Had tom brady gone to the browns in the draft he would have never seen the field .  HE was a 6th round pick for a reason .

A lot goes into ranking QB's. It is really too complicated to say who the actual GOAT is at QB because football is the ultimate team sport. QB's don't play defense and coaching is a big part of football too. Basketball is much easier to rank IMO where it is Michael Jordan, he was just more complete than Magic or LeBron. Most of it is opinion anyway. Eye test is very important, can a QB carry a bad team to wins, accomplishments are important however - like SB wins and League MVP's. Brady is the most accomplished QB ever with 6 SB wins there is no argument there, I would say Montana is 2nd on that list, but to me a QB like Peyton could take a 1-15 team to a 9-7 or 10-6 record with an average roster and average coaching. Not sure Brady or Montana could? Peyton also has won 2 SB's with 2 different teams which nobody else has either. The media recognized Peyton being the most important/valuable player to his team 5 times too. No other player has won 5 League MVP's like Peyton has.

And yet he won tons of SBs despite all this

I’m so tired of the Brady excuses. He’s a phenomenal QB. I hate Belichick and the Pats. But I respect Brady, Belechick and the system they play. Brady is a top 3 all time QB and maybe better than that. A Colts fan can accept that while Effectively  arguing that Manning and Unitas are right there too in the conversation.

I respect Brady as a player but lost my respect for him as a person after he attempted a cover up.  I would have much respect had he just came clean.

Till Jim Mcnally and or John Jastremski tell the truth under oath I will believe a failed cover up.

What I realized over the years is that early on the media made me dislike Brady (and other players too) because of how they pitted him against Manning all the time. As the years wore on and I saw that they were not only competitors but friends, I grew to respect Brady and even though I can't stand the Pats org. I like him much more now that he is with Tampa and doing his thing at 43. Seems silly to question his greatness. The GOAT thing is just another media fabrication to pit players and fans against each other. There are so many all time great QBs that have been a pleasure to watch. I am fortunate to have seen many of them.

that was a tough matchup for foles, reich probably knows him better than the bears do

I agree 100% with this. Kinda wondered why he would start him against a coach that knows him so well.

P.s. wow. What a terrible throw from foles

Right on, don't have verizon but that's pretty cool.

I actually think that was on the rookie, that corner route should of been a little flatter towards sideline and WR stumbled out of break.

Bucs making it look pretty easy so far against them.. I don't even remember our offense against the bears lol.

Hasn't looked much different than our game so far IMO.

Bucs got a TD after a nice INT return.  Aside from that, they punted and settled for two field goals.

Of course, they'll probably go on to score 4 more TDs since I posted this.

No, our passing game ain’t as good as that of the Bucs, goes without saying. So the Bears could sell out against our run.

The Bucs passing game has looked no better than ours against the Bears.

And while we had a low YPC, the total rushing yards between the two games is pretty much even as well.

Not sure what you've been watching, but the Bucs offense has not looked better than the Colts' tonight.  And coincidentally, the Bucs also have 19 points with about two minutes to go.

I think this game is a good look for the Colts for anyone who thinks Brady and the Bucs are a great team/offense.

    • That truly was a terrible angle Willis took. Could've been held to just a bad 20 yard play on that one.
    • Where did I say that?   But,  as long as Ballard and Dodd have their team in place, I feel good about our chances to be highly competitive.   The only problems we’ve had have been when we’ve been without Andrew Luck, in 17 and 19.   When we’ve had Luck or Rivers we are a very competitive team.   Just look at some of the recent Super Bowl participants.  Only KC is really doing well.  The Pats are struggling.   So are the Rams and the Eagles.  Seattle has been hot and cold.   Same with SF.   My point is...   this game is really hard.  Staying at the top is hard.  Being elite year after year is hard.     But not only do you casually dismiss achievement, but you write off players as busts who have been mostly injured or haven’t been with the team long enough to know.  You’re jumping to conclusions, and there’s a good chance some of those conclusions could be wrong.     So yes, I like our future.  I like our GM and the front office he has.  I like his drafting and I mostly like his free agents.   As a fan, I’ll take our chances here....   I’m not predicting a Super Bowl, but I think we will have a good team moving forward.
    • Yup, It was a pretty horrible day all around for the DBs. At least Willis had a PD and a QBH, which none of our other DBs did...    And even without Autry, I was pretty disappointed with the DE pass rush given they had a 3rd string LT.. The DL had zero sacks and QBHs...    Just bad...
    • Also Autry, Buckner, Bobby could all be back.
    • "We've been playing with fire -- and the fire caught us," Colts coach Tony Dungy said.  (After we lost our first game in our SB winning season: Colts vs. Cowboys - Game Recap - November 19, 2006 - ESPN -- https://www.espn.com/nfl/recap?gameId=261119006)    ___   Yea, sometimes Superbowl winning coaches say very 'silly slogans' after losing a game.
