Colts Mailbag: Week 1 Thoughts, Jonathan Taylor/Nyheim Hines Splits, Why Not More Man Coverage?

Lots of questions this week about the defensive side of the ball, particularly the coverage schemes being utilized by defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. I think you'll find there were attempts to make adjustments against the Jaguars, the execution and communication just wasn't all there. Definitely fixable moving forward.

Also, I think there's a hang-up about how many times Philip Rivers threw the ball in Week 1. Granted it's only one game, but there were so many short passes that are essentially an extension of the run game that, to me, it's not that big of a deal.
