Chris Simms top 40 QB list

Recommended Posts

I agree with all that.

I think you might of posted top 10 in here. I know there was a couple. Where do you have Wentz?

Below is my list. I had Wentz at 17. He's had a great surrounding cast (OL and pass catchers), so could have easily put him around 20ish too.

Quote

Based partly on stats/science, partly on surrounding cast, and a little bit of art, my rank is

1. Mahomes

2. Brees

3. Wilson

4. Jackson

5. Stafford

6. Prescott

7. Carr

8. Watson

9. Cousins

10. Tannehill

11. Ryan

12. Rodgers

13. Big Ben

14. Brady

15. Rivers

16. Garoppolo

17. Wentz

18. Lock

19. Minshew

20. Murray

21. Fitzpatric

22. Goff

23. Jones

24. Winston

25. Mayfield

26. Bridgewater

27. Allen

28. Darnold

29. Dalton

30. Foles

31. Trubisky

Not going to give the rooks or some of the still pending FAs an official slot, but here's my range for some of those guys.

Burrow 16-20

Tua 26-30

Herbert - 30ish

Stidham - 21-25 (based on BB gameplan)

Hoyer - 21-25 (based on BB gameplan)

Haskins/Montez - 31-35

Newton - 26-30

Right on, seems you're right there with me thinking he shouldn't be in top 10.

Hell top 7 at this point.

When I did the exercise, I put together stats for all the QBs.

Looking at all the factors, he was good in some areas, and very very average in others. All while having the best OL in the league, and good to great group of pass catchers. No way top 7. If you can't be top 10 in any stats while having that supporting cast, you don't deserve it.

17. Wentz 94
QBR - 11th
Passer Rating - 13th
Comp% - 17th
YPG - 15th
ANY/A - 16th
TD% - 17th
INT% - 5th
2019 OL Rank - 1st
2019 WR/TE Rank - 1st
2020 WR/TE Rank - 14th

Been off the rails. lmao

Where would you rank Wentz, as be hasn't been listed yet

I think in the 10-15 range. Hasn't shown same game as his MVP worthy season he got hurt, IMO.

Tough to be looking at this list and make a rational thought.

Yeah. Probably 10-15 for Wentz. Rodgers should be in there as well but looks like he will be top 10.

Simms top 10 is going to be insane. I am not sure why anyone values this guys opinion.

I don't think too many people value his opinion. At least not on this board.

List has been bad from the start.

Just saw the completed list. There’s going to be a lot of Lamar Jackson fans calling him out.

Yep. That’s the full list in all its “glory”. Thanks for keeping up with it. Sure as heck don’t agree, but it’s been fun to laugh at Simms.

He does have Rodgers at 3, I agree with him on that. Jackson should be 2, Wilson 4, JMO.

Same. I know there are knocks against Lamar, but he was the MVP. Definitely should have been 2, and Watson should be 5.

The two best QBs right now IMO are Mahomes and Wilson. Anyone after that is a debate.

    • He is a whole different order of threat than Mack.  I'll be very surprised if teams aren't focusing him by week 4 or so.  And if it wasn't for Mack I'd say he's a real good bet for ROY.  Still might be even with Mack sharing carries.
    • Sub par reading comprehension on my part.
    • 100% agree here. It's probably the right thing to do honestly to keep 6 WRs. We have lots of potential, but no guarantees besides Hilton at this point. However, I love Pittman, Pascal and Campbell as well. Patmon and Dulin can still make the practice squad, so they might not make the 53 because of that. Fountain is borderline, I think it depends on if he is fully recovered from his injury and can outperform 2 of the other 3 in Patmon, Dulin, and Marcus Johnson. Marcus showed some potential as well, he's the longshot IMO, but a big training camp could have him make the roster as the no6 receiver.   I don't think Patmon will stay on the practice squad for very long with his size and potential, so I'd keep him, don't know between the other 3 yet, I'd determine that through training camp competition. In any case, our WR potential looks fantastic, and with Rivers at QB, I believe we'll have 2 guys break out this year at WR.
    • If it's going to happen to anyone this year, it'll be us. Mack and Taylor will both be used heavily in the offense, Reich seems committed to the run, great O-Line. The recipe is there for something like that to happen. Not only that, we should be ahead in the majority of our games, so I can see us running the ball a lot in the 2nd half to waste time off the clock.    Obvious it's not guaranteed to happen, but I think if the NFL plays a full 16 games the result will be very close.
    • Great stuff. Sounds like Paris is off to a great start. Kevin Bowen said he is supposed to be at practice Monday. I think they will be in full pads.
