Everyone forgets about DE especially with the Buckner trade.

So here's my suggestion

 

34 Draft Marlon Davidson DE

Marlon Davidson is going to be inside player in the NFL IMO(3T or 5T?). And especially in our system he's a 3T, rather than EDGE...

We still have Tyquan Lewis, Banogu, and Turay who will all rotate at DE along with Justin Houston. I don't think DE is as big a need as you may think. Buckner will make all these players better. 

 

We may still bring back Sheard and/or Muhammed at DE as well. And I think Everson Griffin may still be available.

Stitches has the right evaluation.

 

Davidson is a good player.   But he’s a square bodied big man.   He’s not the more lean and mean high twitch type body Ballard and staff appear to favor.  
 

So, let’s simply say...   not a scheme fit...  Unless they plan to use him mostly inside...   (Now watch us draft him!)

  Buckner does take some snaps at DE also. Muhammad is a guy that needs some competition.

I actually have Davidson is the draft contest.  But, I agree with @stitches that, if the Colts draft him, he would be in the 3T rotation behind Buckner.  And he would allow the Colts to cut Autry, so a double bonus.

The Colts still haven't declared the intent for Buckner.  How do we know they aren't planning on using him primarily at DE?  He's got the body and the bend to do it.  Built just like Calais Campbell.  Not saying they will, but not saying they won't either.  Just food for thought.

Honestly wouldn't surprise me to see us use a second round pick on Florida's Edge Jabari Zuniga who lined up all over the defensive line and aced the Combine.  Other notable players that would add depth on our edges in later rounds are Miami's Jonathan Garvin, North Dakota State's Derrek Tuszka or even South Carolina's D.J. Wonnum.

I totally agree that DE is a position that the Colts might draft for as early as 34. I think you are spot on that the Colts might address that position much earlier in this draft than most think.

 

Like others I don't think Marlon Davidson will be that player if they are seeking a DE.

I don't see that. At least, not that early. Too many other crying needs before DE. Not saying they won't take a flier on a solid "two down with potential for more" type player. Just not in Day 2.
