What would the level of forum freak out be, if Ballard went say, offense at #34, and snagged Southern Ill. And Fishers native, Jeremy Chinn at #44?

I could see it, in a sense, even though it isn't what I think I'd do...  But Chinn has really high end measurables, like 99th percentile measurables afa Sparq....

I guess I'd be ok with him there, but would rather have more help on Offense.  I could see the logic in a pick of Chinn here though.

He’s one of the off the wall picks I could see Ballard making. He’s a Fisher’s Indiana native with long arms and elite athletic testing. Everything about him screams Colts. He’s like Darius Leonard but a safety.

What would this say too Hooker?

As much as I love Chinn, I wouldn't want him before our 3rd round pick. WR and OT are simply too big of needs over safety right now.

That's why I have a hard time seeing the Colts picking him so early.   I think we have more pressing needs right now than safety.  We are trying to win it this year.  I think the 1st two picks will probably be offense with players with the skill and attributes to contribute right away.

Well Chinn projects more into a SS role so maybe not much early on. He could play the FS position after a year or two if needed. It would say more to Khari Willis.

But with Geathers gone you need someone who can also play that nickel LB role and match up with TEs. That’s what Chinn would do.

Not saying anything against taking Chinn, but Quincy Wilson did a very good job at taking out TE if I remember right from the KC game. If we need a Safety matchup for TE maybe that is where Wilson fits into the roster.

I actually would like to see Wilson used in this manner more often also. He hasn't seemed to pan out as a starting CB yet, so why not try him as a safety responsible for covering TEs and RBs.

No he didn’t lol. Anyone who really thinks Wilson locked Travis Kelce just reads box scores. He had one good play and the Chiefs stopped throwing him the ball since Mahomes was banged up. Just as big a misconception as when people thought Pierre Desir locked up Hopkins twice last year.

I believe Chinn is more strong safety than he is a free safety.

But I’ll make a prediction here...   I predict the Cokts do NOT pick up his 5th year option which I believe we have to do by this May.    I think we still want Hooker, but he’s got to play much better to keep him.    Not picking up the option sends a loud message.

Chinn is a SS, he’s at his worst in the deep part of the field. Hooker is still on the hot seat, but Chinn isn’t coming in to replace him

Chinn is probably a SS in this defense. He’s massive.

    • I'm not so sure he would survive on the PS.  Last year we paid him a significant salary to keep teams away.  This year we won't be able to.  If he has a good camp and preseason I could see him landing as a backup somewhere even with Cam out there.  I would bet a number of teams would be interested especially at what his contract would look like.  Maybe even the Patriots.  I believe at the end of this year if he was on our roster he would be a restricted FA not unrestricted.  That would give us a little more control and might be an additional factor on keeping him on the roster this year.
    • Yes the new CBA changed that. Except for a couple veterans you can keep on the PS and pay more. Basically Kelly would be getting a 150k pay cut.
    • Most reports coming out have Hoyer starting over Stidham who isnt ready, as we saw last year Hoyer is done, shot,Curtis Painter level.....who is their go to wr ? Sanu ? M Lee ? N Henry ?  Go to rb ? Michel laid an egg last season with 3.7 yards per carry and now D's will load up even more vs their run game .  The talent simply is not there, they tank for a season and try and reload with Lawrence and bring in a few Free Agents. Brady isnt there to save this outmatched squad. Go to Vegas and bet the under on wins which is 9.5, they wont reach 10 wins, not even close, easy money trust me. I know a few of you here followed my XFL bets and cashed in with me on over under on the games coming in under consistently..cash in on this one as well.
    • Question:   Who says we can’t pay our favorite PS players more than the basic price?    We did last year.    Kelly made roughly $500k, the highest of any player in the NFL.   Did that change?   Is that no longer allowable?   Thanks...
    • That horse looks pretty jacked up.....   Let’s get rid of Blue and then bring Andrew back and put a horse head on him.... let him earn some of that 24 million Jimmy gave him.
