I think you're underestimating the market for Carr. He'd be the best available in terms of age and performance (not an elder vet like Rivers or Brady). He's coming off a top 10 year, and is a ready now starter. Even if you look at the draft options, Burrow is really the only ready now guy. Maybe Herbert, but he's a boom or bust guy. Tua and Love are guys that will need to sit/develop. The other guys, Eason/Fromm/Hurts, aren't near the same league as Carr. I'd say out of all the options, he's the 2nd or 3rd best immediate option.

Maybe I am, but I just don't see anybody giving up a 1st unless he's an elite talent.  He is not that.  He is very good, but not elite IMHO.  OF course the wrench in that could be if there is a bidding war for him then someone will probably pony it up.  I have no idea what that market is going to be.  But as I see it right now, I don't see it.

But I could be wrong.  Good debate topic though.

Jeudy is the most polished WR to come out and will be immediately successful.

I could see a Julio Jones type trade for him in this draft.

Lamb has potential but needs some work.

At this point Lamb is still an above average route runner. They are close to each other in terms of skill and potential. Either of them could be the first WR off the board and it wouldn't be a big surprise. Both should be exciting to watch next year and I would love to see them in a Colts uniform

After Ruggs 40 wouldn't shock me to see Arizona or Jags take him.

I don't think he will but who knows

Theres a player who I could see sneaking into the 1st Round or high 2nd that we didn't even have this draft.

Julian Okwara

A 2019 broken left fibula is a red flag that may slide him, IMO. He's not an every down guy, IMO. More of a situational pass rusher that plays limited downs that can be a run game liability.

Though they play different positions, I compare him to DreMont Jones who was once touted as a promising 3-technique for pass rush but his run game D was a liability, and he fell to Round 3 to the Broncos. That is kind of how I view Julian Okwara as well.

I don't mind situational players at all, I just don't want them early.

Absolutely, that is the point being made here. The number of downs a player can play dictates ROI and a lot of times draft position.

Indy... that was a good trade followed by a bad trade... Boo... ha

I thought the same but then realized we still had Philly's 2nd rounder. So we could still add a WR there.

So even if, like me, you don't think Carr is worth a 1st round pick you can still warp your viewpoint to see it like this when stacking it up to our original picks:

13. Kinlaw

34. Carr

44. Claypool?

Not that bad in my opinion.  That said the real scenario requires a bunch of things to fall our way. I'm particularly skeptical that Philly would trade up to take Ruggs. They need a WR but they are still in position to get one without trading away their second rounder.

Agreed, and on top of that Carr requires many millions more in cap room than a rookie, so that would need to be taken into account with a trade like that. I think pick 34 would have been reasonable. We could still take Minlaw at 13, and we'd still have a earlier pick at 44 than the Philly 2nd round pick.
