Justin Madubuike, DL, Texas A & M

I think I am going to take a break and come back tomorrow morning.

Next few picks, if you want to get done with BPA for @danlhart87 would be:

Denver

Atlanta

No worries. We can pick it up tomorrow.

He got Kinlaw,  Carr, and pick 53 for pick 13, 34, and 44.  It was a good series of trades.

You have to assume that LVR would not trade Carr for 34 but wanted a first (which was pick 21).

I follow however you got rid of two commodities #34 and #44 (roughly 4 years on cheap contracts| At any position of value) on a QB on a 1 year contract? I don't like. jmho.

But I recognize your efforts.

I wouldn't waste picks on Fromm or Eason lol..

I started with 3 picks. I got Kinlaw (legit 3T) and Carr (instant starter with years left), and still have a 53.... Going to bet most would be happy with that.

I would be.  Although I don't think it'll require a 1st to get Carr, especially if the Raiders already have a replacement.  But I guess if you like the guy you go get'em and that's what you did.  Happy with that haul though.

Carr would be under contract through 2022.

He had arguably his best year ever, and was average 10ish in the core stats. I'd bet some money they ask for at least a first, if not more. I do think they will try to deal him before though.

IDK about that.  Here is some recent QB trade history.

2018:

- Chiefs traded Alex Smith to Redskins for Kendall Fuller and a 3rd round pick (probably the closest comp to Carr on this list)

- Bills traded Tyrod Taylor to the Browns for a 3rd round pick

- Jets traded Teddy Bridgewater to Saints for a 3rd round pick

2019:

- Ravens trade Joe Flacco to Denver for 4th round pick

- Dolphins trade Ryan Tannehill and 2019 6th round pick to Titans for 2019 7th round pick and 2020 4th round pick

- Denver traded Case Keenum and 2020 7th round pick to Redskins for 2020 6th round pick

I believe if Ballard calls the Raiders and asks them what they need in return for Carr and their sentence begins with 2020 or 2021 1st round pick...….he hangs the phone up.  Furthermore, I believe any trade scenario would require Carr to sign a long-term 4+ year deal before the trade.  This would guarantee the Colts they aren't getting a short-timer and left out in the cold after a year or two.

Carr is under contract 3 years, and IMO, it's perfect. Not to long, not to short. And not to expensive.

The comparisons you give above aren't close lol, so not going to go through them. Carr was top 10 last year on average in the core stats, and didn't have WRs while doing it. The best QB above (Smith) got a 3rd and a #1 depth chart CB. That trade was really weird. The Skins wanted to get rid of Cousins, who they would have had to franchise. The Chiefs also needed to shed dollars, wanted to get rid of Smith (didn't fit AR's scheme, and they wanted to start Mahomes), and they also needed a CB bad (were getting rid of Peters). Fuller by the way was the DB who sealed the deal in the SB INT'ing Jimmy G.

I think @EastStreet strategy was to target certain players then move around the board to get those players at reasonable value while preserving capital.  That's how I would approach a draft.   Its about specifically getting Kinlaw and Carr, and the trade up is what it took because LVR would have declined our pick 34 offer.

I can see your point if the goal was to acquire multiple true BPA, but then you might not get a decent QB.  I'd much rather use an extra second rounder to get Carr than to be cornered into selecting Fromm or Eason or Gordon or having to be at the mercy of next year's draft.

I like Fromm better than most here, but I would take Carr over him in a second if I just had to lose an extra second round pick.  We could redo the contract pretty easily, IMO.

I had hoped to get one of the top QBs in the first, and if I had, I was going to trade both seconds to get back into 1st to get Kinlaw if available. In that situation, I would have ended with a QB and DT in the first, and no 2nd round pick. As soon as the top 4 QBs were gone, and LVR took a QB, my strategy changed, but still wanted legit prospects at QB and 3T. I would have traded 13+34+44 to get the two I got, but decided to roll the dice in an attempt to parlay both of them plus keep a 2nd. I did not want Eason or Fromm at all, but would have considered Gordon late 2nd (likely another trade back) or 3rd (we're only doing 2 rounds though).

I get it, we don't have much to go on.  But this is all we have to go by the last 2 years.  What is to stop Ballard from throwing a player in there?  Besides, if it did happen I see no way Ballard throws in a 1st.  None.  I think 2nd on up could be in play.  But part of it would depend on how desperate the Raiders were.  Do they have a backup plan already in place (Brady?)?  Do they WANT to get rid of him?  Do they want to pay him that much to be a backup?  I think Ballard will ride that out as long as he can.

With the 52nd pick, the Rams take

A.J. Terrell CB

Clemson Jr

6-1  195

With the 53rd pick, the Colts take

Michael Pittman Jr. X-WR

USC  Sr

6-4    223

The Colts end day 2, with a revamp to their passing game (QB and WR), and a 3T who will make the D hum.

I think you're underestimating the market for Carr. He'd be the best available in terms of age and performance (not an elder vet like Rivers or Brady). He's coming off a top 10 year, and is a ready now starter. Even if you look at the draft options, Burrow is really the only ready now guy. Maybe Herbert, but he's a boom or bust guy. Tua and Love are guys that will need to sit/develop. The other guys, Eason/Fromm/Hurts, aren't near the same league as Carr. I'd say out of all the options, he's the 2nd or 3rd best immediate option.

No he isn't

Lamb needs to work on his route running if he plans on being successful

His route running needs some work and is probably one of his only weaknesses although hardly even a weakness. Him and Jeudy are monsters and will make an impact immediately. And both will also be gone before pick 19.
