Dumping Brissett keeps the fan base going.

Keeping him brings a lot of apathy to the fan base......except for the minority who want to keep him at any cost.

Brisket is a very solid backup QB

He can come in and win some games if QB1 is hurt

There is value for players like that

However.....

IMHO ....  I would rather have a rookie or 2nd year QB in that role, developing them for the QB1 spot, or a future trade bait.

Having someone like Hoyer is pointless at this stage

And quite possibly...... JB... as well

Keep JB as a back up, P Rivers as the starter, and rookie as the 3rd QB.

I'm not advocating for Rivers, but if they did this, would the team accept the demotion of JB? The issue is team unity; keeping JB instead of outright releasing him or trading him might very well cause a divide within the locker room. And would JB accept it and be a good teammate? Lots of moving parts there that, if not handled properly, could derail this team.
