Combine Testing and On-Field Drills Thread - Day 2 - RB, OL, ST, PK

Recommended Posts

Not the most exciting day, but still some things to see... I want to see what that mountain of a human Mekhi Becton will do in his tests. But yeah... here's a thread to discuss what's happening on day 2.

Here are the measurements for the OLine:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kWcb-dn9aqgn2pM6teYGbxiA4Kql1aMMrgjvtD-ofTE/edit#gid=557759600

Bench press numbers are out... some notable ones here:

OL

- most reps - Netane Muti 44 !!!

- fewest reps - Kyle Murphy 19

RB

- most reps - Scottie Phillips 29

- fewest reps - Eno Benjamin 12

The on-field testing and drills start in about 45 minutes at 4pm ET

If I were given $1 billion to either (a) get hit by a train or (b) stand on the finish line of Becton's 40 yard dash, I'd choose the train.

PFF loves Muti. Number one IOL, number 33 overall. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

What if Becton was on the train?

Then I'd start writing my last will and testimony because my time has come.

Would the train rather  stand there at the end of his forty or get hit by another train?

AJ Dillon had a very nice 40 (4.53) for being on 250lbs and 6ft. Talk about cannon ball coming at you.

It’s basically the same thing

Disappointed to see that Ben Bredeson and Prince Tega Wanogho aren’t working out. Wanogho’s knee is concerning.

Bredeson could be an interesting pick for backup IOL or take over RG. He’s projected late 2nd/ early 3rd but if he slid to our 3rd pick. I’d be happy with taking him

Do the Kickers actually kick field goals at different ranges at the combine or are they mostly there to do interviews?

I'm sure they spend a lot of time talking about leadership, and willingness to sacrifice for the team.

Seriously though, more and more they have starting doing the full experience (standard drills and interviews + kicking). Here's an article that's 5ish years old talking about most just getting tested, kicking, and heading home. Turk did get a lot of attention for his bench press though, which is kind of funny.

Johnathan Taylor running a 4.39 officially is absolutely insane to me. Fastest of all the RBs there at 225 lbs.

Tristan Wirfs, I am impressed. Have to look at him if he is there at No.13
