Sounds like there’s a lot of open discussion and our big 3 are collectively running through all scenarios. There’s no telling what will happen at this point.

The quote says Smoke signal. as in sending out feelers for info.  not smoke screen which means sending out false info

While he said 'smoke signal'... in context it's quite clear he meant smoke screen. Here's the full quote(go to 4:45):

It's amazing how it's never some huge bust that they say they were going to draft. Like... "Oh, you don't know this but let me tell you guys... in 2017 we were this close to drafting Haason Reddick... if only he'd drop to us... we were running to the podium with his name"... it's always a self-serving version of events.
