Recommended Posts

So if you guys didnt know the Manning sweepstakes went down from 4 teams to 3. Ken Wisenhunt reported that he will pull out of the Manning sweepstakes and pay Kevin Kolb. The Dolphins also decided to pull out of the race. Now that the Broncos and Titans are closing in a suprise dark horse team came out of no where. The 49ers have saw him work out and are very interested. If your wondering where i got this info its from NFL Network and Bleacher Report.

I really hope he goes to the 49ers.

Was there a press release that I missed?

Source please? or link?

Seems like it.

Colts Owner Jim Irsay: "Good afternoon. Well, we're here to announce the conclusion of Peyton's playing career with the Colts. We're here very much as well to honor all the incredible memories and incredible things that he's done for the franchise, for the city, for the state. In the history of sports through the last century, there's been in team sports a handful of Hall of Fame great players that have done incredible things for franchises. I know that this parallels the handful of people through time that has meant so much to the franchise. I know, in my heart and in the hearts of fans, it's unparalleled for the Colts. It's a difficult day here of shared pain between Peyton, myself, the fans, everyone. I think in that vein as well, the 18 jersey will never be worn again by a Colt on the field.

Gosh. The Manning pitchfork brigade were out there quick on Frog. Everyone new what I meant, but the sniper rifles were just waiting........

Do not take everything so anti-Peyton. I LIKE Manning. A lot. I'm just focusing on the future. Let it be.....

LOL, the Manning pitchfork brigade!

"pitchfork brigage", "sniper rifles", ....you may like Manning, but these incendiary words would seem to indicate you don't have much respect for fellow Colts fans simply posting an opinionated repsonse to someone denigrating the number 18 for whatever purpose it was done.

Why the need to stir these issues when the OP was simply catching up on the sweepstakes? Why does it seem like that certain posters have such a strong desire to belittle anyone that uses the word Manning? Do as you will, but it isn't informative, helpful, or necessary.

Read the thread from the top. I never disrespected the OP, I just put forth my opinion that I'd rather talk about Colts players. It was civil enough. Then Frog made a 'mistake' (if you call not remembering every word of a 30 minute press conference a mistake), then the nasty stuff started.

Perhaps I should have let Frog answer for himself, but I could sense he was Undecided.

FYI, I was in no way denigrating any number.

Yes, you have accurately depicted what happened.

I mistakenly thought that the number 18 was still available. No denigration intended.

That was when the Manning pitchfork brigade began to string me up for my mistake.

i know a lot of people are reading our comments and are fuming over how we can be so sarcastic about scorned feelings

some handle grief with humor & love, others with sorrow & anger. it wouldn't hurt to have a little compassion for the others. sometimes we need to give each other a little space to heal

yes i am afraid you must be stoned to death. nothing personal

Stoned? Stoned?

Well, they’ll stone you and say that it’s the end

...even when it's not

Then they’ll stone you and then they’ll come back again

...and they all will

They’ll stone you when you’re riding in your car..

...driving to LOS

They’ll stone you when you’re playing your guitar

...playing the blues

Yes, but I would not feel so all alone

...everybody needs somebody

Everybody must get stoned

Thanks to Mr. Dylan for writing "Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35"

In this case it's 12&18....

Yes, indeed.

However, I would like to know when I can start posting here again, without feeling that I am walking on........eggshells.

It doesn't feel like a healthy environment for ......healing.

When I reply sometimes it's better if I stay away from black and white wording and instead try the shades of gray, you know, double talk, sarcasm, innuendo, and diplomatic vagaries...... :whiteflag:

Or use similar wording that you know cannot be deemed objectionable since they were used by the hero.

to be honest id like to see him say he will retire lol although i know it wont happen but this is why i would like him to retire

not only because i want him to retire a colt BUT

Niners are on the verge of losing alex smith more then likely and after signing all those receivers it would be funny to see them end up with out a QB

Broncos Tebow will want a trade mroe then likely because im pretty sure he is feeling he is not wanted in denver now their trying to get manning and if they dont get manning i dont see tebow playing like he did just because of their lie about having faith in tebow

Tennessee well i dont want the colts to have to face him twice a year, would just suck.

if he dont retire it would be funny if he tells irsay he would come back for the minimum just so he can retire a colt (although doubt it will happen lol )

    • Yeah... Richardson needs players who can separate and who can get open deep. IMO "give the inaccurate QB a contested catch receiver with large catch radius" is one of the tropes that hasn't proven to work well. Contested catches have about 50-55% success rate even with the best of contested catch receivers and with relatively accurate QBs... now if you think AR's accuracy is not good, drop that rate even more. The best way to give a relatively inaccurate QB better chance to complete passes is to give him a WR who separates and and who is open so the QB would have more of a margin for error to throw the ball a little behind or ahead or a little higher or lower than ideal. (we are not talking about uncatchable balls here... those will be uncatchable for anyone really). In that regard, one thing I would agree about is - we need WRs who have good hands and have good ball skills.   And this is ignoring that AR has indeed been pretty good with his accuracy on passes at intermediate and long range. His biggest problem coming into the league was the short stuff and he was already showing improvements in that deparment before he got injured.    And Worthy is the WR who created the most separation from anybody in this draft :
    • Richardson  accuracy  on deep balls is his strength.  Hence why you pair an elite deep threat in worthy.
    • No.   You weren’t.   If you were the least bit sincere, we’d be having these conversations in private.  But you’ve repeatedly ignored my efforts to do that.  Your call.      Then you avoid me until I’m in an uncomfortable conversation with another poster.   You use that awkward moment as an excuse for you to come in with some sincere friendly advice.   The problem is, you’re neither sincere, nor friendly.  And you’ve been doing this for months now.  This is not new.   The pattern is clear and obvious.     And the shame of it all is that even with our different views on Ballard we have enough in common that we should be friendly.  Maybe not friends, but friendly.  You wouldn’t need to address me as “Sir.”    “Good deed going unpunished”.  You flatter yourself.     But your actions speak much louder than your words.   There’s no reason for me to trust you.  And here we are.  A real shame.
