XFL 2020 Thread

I’m looking forward to the XFL.  Hoping it lasts longer than the AAF did.  The AAF had all their teams pretty much in the south and none in the Midwest or Northeast.  Hopefully, the locations of the XFL teams will benefit the league.  Every XFL game is televised nationally, also, so it everyone should be able to at least watch the team they wish to follow each week.  Starts the weekend following the Super Bowl!

I was into the AAF quite a bit.  The style was NFL-like.   Not sure I'm up for another disappointment.  The last time for the XFL was so poor, it makes me question this time.   Will they be able to leave the WWF out of it this time?

Phillip Walker QB on the Houston Roughnecks, I didn't even remember him on the Colts roster (practice squad)?? He was on it for 2 yrs I believe.  It says he is not even 6'.  Several former Indiana colleges repped in the XFL also.  I am enjoying it!  Lots of different rules too!

They are calling him pj on here but he was off and on the practice squad forever.

Yes..PJ did look good.  I am liking the games and there's 2 more tomorrow!  Getting used to the new rules and all..did you notice the winning team gets a bonus to share?  Pretty good incentive for regular season game!  If you didn't read about the salaries:

The XFL’s non-negotiable agreement states players will earn $1,040 in base salary every week, which translates into a $27,040 gross payment. The contract outlines that XFL players earn another $1,685 for each game played, plus a $100,000 weekly win bonus is paid to every active roster member on the winning team. XFL players get no royalties for merchandise sold by the league, and they cannot pursue any legal claims in court. All this adds up to be an estimated average salary around $55,000 for every player.

Enjoyed the first half of the XFL.  Good ending with a 56 yard field goal.  Go Defenders!

340 lbs Qualls made several good plays!  Was on the Ravens PS. Sounds like he gained weight, maybe more strength.  Having said that, tho- hes going against XFL Linemen,  and not NFL Linemen...

My bet is he gets to an NFL training camp.

I only watched 1 game. It was the St. Louis vs Dallas game. I think I'll choose the St. Louis team as the team I root for and only watch their game each week. Not sure I could take more than 1 game per week.
I know allot of people seem to like the "all access" thing with everyone being mic'd up, but it gets on my nerves. I really don't care to see the offensive coordinator in the booth calling every play. I don't need to see the coaches interviewed every 5 minutes. I don't even want to hear the booth refs deciding on a replay.

Ive always enjoyed the new leagues, has front row season tickets for XFL in 2001 Orlando Rage, was the first fan inside the stadium at first UFL for Florida Tuskers and was 50 yard line last year for the AAF's Orlando Apollos. The XFL this year seems behind talent wise of AAF by quite a bit , original XFL by a lot and on par with AAF. Opening attendance well behind AAF and original XFL but Vince has deep pockets and every game is on National TV AND they have the ability to use NFL draft eligible players from college (Kenny Robinson has college eligibility left and will be picked in NFL draft in a couple of months).    I made a ton of money betting on the league this weekend, same with AAF opening weekend last season. Casinos made same mistake setting over/ unders way too high as Offenses need time to mesh while D's are already set (Yesterday's games for example Under covered by 30 points each game) so if anyone plays the books watch to see if week 2 is corrected if not cash in (AAF lines didnt correct until after week 3).  Announcers even mentioned it multiple times in telecast.

St. Louis Battlehawks rocking the Blue and White and are the closest.  Only team with a road W this week, and they did that against the championship favored, Bob Stoops led Dallas Renegades.  Definitely my team.  They go up against former Colts QB Phillip (PJ) Walker next week in Houston.  Walker had probably the best QB performance in the league in Week 1.  We'll see if STL can pull another one out.  They are once again on the road and playing the Sunday night game.

    • Medical definitely.  His production heavily outweighs the age issue. Although I’ve wondered if his physical maturity is why he did so well.  But he doesn’t rely on great physical attributes.     I think two bold things.  Irsay demands we go get Marv jr.  if not then we are taking an edge rusher.  If latu is at 15 it seems like the clearest lock to me.   Maybe not so bold.
    • I'll be scratching me head forever if the Colts pass on him, and he turns out to be Aaron Donald.    I know you're big on "measurables". I remember back in the day arguing with you about Braden Smith being able to play RT because his arms weren't long enough. Don't get me wrong, I know measurables certainly play a part. But I still take the player and his skillset over his measurements.
    • Are you hoping it doesn't happen because he doesn't fit the Colts profile? Or because you don't think he'd be a good player for us?   I agree that he's not a Ballard type of prospect, and for that reason, I doubt we draft him. We only have one DT who's shorter than 6'4" -- Adebawore is 6'2", he was drafted in the 4th round, he's an outlier athlete, has really long arms, and I think he's probably more of a DE/DT hybrid. Drafting a 6'0" DT/3T, especially in the first round, doesn't seem like something Ballard would do.   But I think Murphy is a really good player, and a really good athlete, despite his lack of size. His speed and explosive numbers are great for a player his size. His tape looks good. He fits our defensive scheme. He led all interior DL prospects with a 19.6% pressure rate. He hates being blocked, and plays like he lives his life for the sole purpose of defeating offensive linemen.    I am not comparing him to Aaron Donald. But before the 2014 draft, I said Donald was the kind of guy you just draft and figure it out, whether he fits your scheme/profile or not. In no way am I saying Murphy is as good as Donald was, not even as a prospect, but I think he might be good enough to apply the same logic. Put him in a gap shooting front and let him disrupt.    I would not mind if we drafted him at all. It would be a big surprise, but I think he's a really good prospect.
    • I was waiting for his mock today. Some interesting picks but nothing quite as exciting as him predicting the Texans trade up to 3 and them getting Stroud and Anderson. The most interesting one is him giving JC Latham to the Chargers at 5. I expect them to get an OT but I thought it would be Alt. Lets see...    Another interesting thing - Brian Thomas Jr drops all the way to 28 to the Bills. There has been some rumors about him having a shoulder issue that would need to be addressed surgically at some point. Possible he falls. Latu falls to 27 too... I guess health related again.    Worthy and Mitchell go 31 and 32 to the 49ers and the Chiefs... Urgh!
    • I have noticed this too, nothing against Murphy he is a good player, but I’m hoping for a WR or atleast the TE Bowers.
