Would you support signing Tom Brady on a 1-year deal?

Recommended Posts

I heard Colin Cowherd say he thinks we are the best fit for him next year if he doesn’t re-sign with NE. Creative coach, great organisation, excellent young O-line.  Personally, I think he’ll re-sign with NE, just putting that out there.

Thinking objectively about this here. Brady is at least top 2 in GOAT status. His football IQ is off the charts and his drive and leadership is close to being unrivalled. Seeing that we have his former understudy and good friend JB in the QB room currently, would he want to sign here?

At #13 I think we miss out on Burrow, Tua & Herbert. If we were to not pickup a QB early, would you support signing Brady to mentor JB for another year and try again next year at a QB of the future?

I wouldn't support it. Brady has sharply declined. Give me Rivers in a one-year deal. Better version of Brady at this point.

NO NO NO And HELL NO.   This is never going to happen for an abundance of reasons from starting with money an ending with He is the face of the  Patriots and all that represents. Please stop with these posts

Well to put it in simple terms for those thinking with their hearts and not their heads....Brady is 10 times better than Jacoby so heck yes. See I like to see the team get better so it's a pretty simple no brainer.

No.  I think it is more likely he goes to the Chargers and if that happens we can trade up to 5 and get Herbert or Love.  I can see the Dolphins moving up a few spots and taking Tua.

IDC who he played for! I am a Colts fan! If they wear the horseshoe I will be a fan of them. I’m a Colts fan not a specific player fan. He is also way better than Jacoby

If he does come here, and then helps us win the superbowl, would you consider him the GOAT?

He's arguably the GOAT now. IMO only Peyton and Montana are the other 2 in that discussion for many reasons. Perhaps Unitas is in that discussion as well but he played when football was way different?

Support is a funny word?

I'd never fully embrace him or his legacy, but I might be able to tolerate it if it's a thing that happens. I'd say the odds have to be less than 10% and are probably lower than 5%.

I'm cool with a FA QB coming in though.

I would much rather sign both Curtis Painter and pay him 100 million fully guaranteed per year than sign that Tom Brady.

Take away Hoodie and the rings, Brady is nothing special. I put Drew Brees higher than Tom Brady. He beats Tom in every category but Rings. And all of Brady’s come with asterisks anyway. Heck, they even had to cheat against the 0-16 Bengals

I cannot even imagine a universe in which this would happen.  There's too much drama between pat and colts fans. If Brady came here, I think the forum might implode and suck us all into an alternate reality

If I had to guess, Brady is better off going to Chicago. Great defense and run game and pretty good weapons in Robinson and Gabriel

Yes and I wouldn't think twice about it. Tom still has a couple of years left. His struggles this season had more to do with chemistry than talent. He still has zip on the ball and he still can throw it deep.

He would do fine here I think.  He'd find Hines and Mack a lot out of the backfield and TY would be a great fit for him.

I am not a big believer in what he has left, but if it's him or JB.  The choice should be obvious IMO.

There is too much bad blood for this to even be considered

Now, Derek Carr......

Well done.  And I agree about Carr. . But I’d only give the Raiders pick # 44. Then grab the best DT and WR you can in the draft with picks 13 and 34 and you’re off to the races. No to bringing in any fading old QBs. That’s taking a step back.

I think he hates Indy, especially after Deflategate.   I also am not sure that I trust him as he is entrenched in the Patriots organization.

No. I doubt we will miss out on all the first round QB. Question is how much does ballard like them. Colt fans are really starting to sound delusional.

Tom Brady and Philip Rivers will only be a temporary bandaid if picked up. I don't want temporary. I want a franchise guy that we can build around.

Did you read the thread?

I'm the only person who even half hardheartedly said I might be able to tolerate it-and I'll expound, it's really largely because it'd drive Patriots fans nuts.

I also think he'd play better than JB but that's not even a tangible point being discussed here.

Absolutely hate Tom Brady.

However a obviously diminished Brady is still a vastly superior option to Brisket

    • Agree. I think people underestimate the ability of coaches to tailor offenses towards their best players. This is especially true for the coaches that are actually good, which I think Arians is(even though I too have some thoughts on his offense and playcalling).    You might actually argue Ben and Luck especially were used the way they were by Arians precisely because they they can actually do it and can actually mitigate some of the drawbacks of playing that type of offense. I think Arians is plenty smart enough to adjust his offense to what Brady can and cannot do. I still think Brady can be one of the better passers in the intermediate range and even take some shots downfield when well protected and he will have some of the best supporting casts and weapons he's had recently. I don't think Arians will ask Brady to do what he was asking Luck to do.
    • Or their putting out players to excel a play. For instance, a hard PA that looks like a run. Teams will buy it's a run more if Pascal is on the field then Campbell. All I'm saying is, don't sleep on Pascal just because we took two WRs early. We can take advantage of each of their best traits.
    • Not sure TB12 would make it to Bye Week if Arians was the playcaller
    • I have some thoughts on Arians' offense and playcalling, but Leftwich is the playcaller now. And I think they'll tailor things to fit Brady's strengths and maximize the weapons they have. I don't think Brady is as dangerous a passer as he once was, but it was only a couple years ago that he threw for 500 yards in the Super Bowl.    Arians' calling plays for Ben and Luck (and even Jameis) -- who thrived in a downfield passing attack, who liked to hold on to the ball and shrug off tacklers -- probably doesn't have a whole lot of significance for the 2020 Bucs with Brady. Arians might be stubborn, but he's not stupid.
    • I’d love to have Clowney.... and I’m a big believer in the high character players the Colts have targeted recently. But with the uncertainty over what the salary cap will look like next year, and the multiple free agents the Colts need to sign, it makes sense to be cautious. If they could get him on a one year affordable deal, heck yeah. But I suspect Clowney will hold out for a better deal than that....which is why Clowney and the Colts are not the best fit. Gonna have to roll with J. Houston and the kids.
