Tua Burrow Love and Herbert all declare for the NFL Draft.

Dolphins don't take QB at 5 and one of the above fall to 13.

We trade down to 18

Here's my question:

What would you want in return and is there any possible way we would get a 2021 1st?

I think as much as Ballard likes his picks, I don’t see him doing this. There is gonna be some playmakers at 13. 18 may be to far.

I do think he said what he said about JB and the QBs because he might not take one, but he wants people to think he might. That way if someone tries to live up, he is a target for it.

We need more elite talent on this team, so if a guy like Derrick Brown or CeeDee Lamb were available, I would hope Ballard would be racing to to draft them.

I couldn’t agree more with this!! Even if one of the QBs slid, if either of those guys are available, it’s an easy choice. You go with one of them every day of the week, and grab Eason or some other QB in round 2

Without even consulting the chart, that trade back has been done similarly in years past for much less compensation than a 1.  The Chiefs got all the way from 27 to 10 in 2017 for just a first and a third.

Kinda makes the Texans look bad by comparison for netting merely Deshaun Watson by moving from 25 to 12 for a 1 when they could have easily had Mahomes...

Then again, evaluating QBs is just that difficult and imprecise.

I think the only way the Colts would pick a QB at 13 is if Tua fell that far.  Otherwise, I expect the Colts to pick a DT or WR and then pick a WR at 34.  Because I don't think any other QB is worth 13.  I would shoot from Fromm or Eason at #34.  I would avoid Love at all costs.

I don’t think many here have Fromm as a successful QB in the NFL on this board. He has some concerns for sure. I wouldn’t be taking From until 3rd or later. Eason sounds like he has upside so I’d take a look at him at 34 or possibly our next pick in the second. Take the DT and the WR combo from both picks or we again may be forced into taking the left tackle depending on what AC does this off season.

I get it. We all have opinions.  I would take Fromm over any other QB over the top three.  I am not big on QBs that are inaccurate and hope they get to the NFL and become better.  Fromm threw 30 TDs last year.  This year they changed the offense and ran more so he is branded a game manager.  I think he has the brains, accuracy, and smarts to be very good in the NFL.  I would avoid Love.  Even Eason scares me.

If we have a chance at all to move to 18 (Miami) or 19 (Las Vegas) you take that chance especially if a 2021 1st is involved.

If there is any possibility of getting TL next year you have to take it.

I would take him over any QB in this class.

As much as people want those reliable Peyton Manning offenses...Andrew Luck offenses...we are not that team. I believe...we are shaping into one of those early Steeler, Ravens, Giants teams that won the SB.  I think we select players that contribute to our previously selected RD1 and RD2 (Leonard, Nelson, Smith, Rock) success...Whether it is a stud DT to insulate Leonard or Another blue chip Offensive lineman to assist Smith,Kelly or Nelson... or another DE to rush the passer... Until THAT QB reveals himself...I think Ballard will continue to build upon his vision...with the least amount of risk/most long term benefit to this organization. 2 cents...

I think some team ahead of the Colts will take a chance on Tua, but I'm not sold on him at all. He's been a great college player, but I'm not sure how long he'll hold up in the NFL. He's listed at 6'1"/210 lbs.,and you know how they like to stretch those numbers a bit. He's really built like a cornerback.  He has two surgically repaired ankles, and now a dislocated hip and posterior wall fracture. Given his medical history, I just don't think he's worth the risk in the first round.

I haven’t watched much of Fromm but I agree with you about accuracy.  NFL has such tight windows plus it increases the YAC for receivers because they catch it in stride.

    • Sounds good. I'm a computer/tech ill* (my own word, supposed to sound like illiterate), I'll try not to screw it up when draft time comes.   Only disagrement I have with your Colts needs is I think we need a clear alpha WR or TE to take the next step, so I'd put that in the Primary slot. Otherwise, I see it the way you do for the most part.
    • His teams with real quarterbacks is 21-11. At least be realistic with your bashing. Otherwise, you just look like you are picking a fight you won’t win. Team had more all-pros on the roster last year than everyone but the Packers who had the same amount. Don’t be a tool
    • Yes, it's been a long time since they were the Cardinals AAA affiliate.  In 1982, A. Ray Smith moved the Springfield Redbirds to Louisville as the Cardinals AAA affiliate in the American Association.  This is when I became a St. Louis Cardinals fan, because I could go see future Cardinals as they were working their way up to the majors.   The Louisville Redbirds played in Cardinal Stadium, which was the former home of the Louisville Colonels (Red Sox affiliate) and also the home of the University of Louisville football Cardinals.  The Redbirds enjoyed great success in Louisville and in their first season broke many minor league attendance records.  In 1983, they because the first minor league franchise to draw over 1 million fans during a season.   In 1998, the Cardinals switched their AAA affiliate to Memphis and Louisville became the AAA team for the Milwaukee Brewers.  They were still the Redbirds in 1998 and then changed their name to the River Bats in 1999.   In 2000, the team moved to their new downtown ballpark, Louisville Slugger Field.  That year, they also became the AAA Affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and continue that affiliation now.     Have you been to a Cardinals game before?  Busch Stadium is really nice and the view of the Arch beyond center field is a great backdrop.  Hope you can make a game there...I am hoping to do the same later this summer.     I had a great time!  Sorry, I can't give a final score, but when I left at the end of the 6th inning, the Indians led 3-0.  It was getting late and I had to work today.   Interesting that the Reds were wearing the Cincinnati spring training jerseys, but the Indians were wearing the Columbus Clippers uniforms, so it was kinda strange.   The players are most likely going to be AAA and AA players this year, but there may be a couple that get called up due to an injury to a major league player.   It was still baseball and the first time I've been to a game since mid-summer of 2019, so it was a very pleasurable evening.  Tickets were cheap and seating was general admission, so you could sit anywhere in the designated areas.  They limited ticket sales so everyone could be spread out.   Here's a view from my seat behind home plate.
    • Here's a link for team needs (I don't agree with all of it, but it's pretty good overall) https://thedraftnetwork.com/team-needs   It's tiered into primary, secondary, ancillary, and "don't need". Colts example below from TDN.   Colts Primary - OT, CB, WR Secondary - IDL, EDGE, LB, TE Ancillary - QB, S Don't need - IOL, RB   It's up to you if you want to follow it, and how you want to weigh need vs PBA.   IMO, the Colts needs are more like the below, which I would personally follow. And even with that, depending on BPA, I might not follow the tiers.    Colts Primary - Edge, LT Secondary - CB, WR, LB, TE, S Ancillary - IDL, IOL Don't need - , RB, QB   You'll have a set time for your pick, so only need to be on for 15 minutes at most.
