twfish's first 2020 mock

Recommended Posts

All picks are estimated and don't take into account comp picks. This is an early get my feet wet mock and plan on getting more time looking at prospects as time goes on. In this mock I will be trading with the 23rd through 25th pick depending on order, our #45 and #77 (our true 2nd round and third round pick) valued at 979 for a pick with value as high as 975.

#13 Javon Kinlaw DT Southern Carolina.

We finally get the dominate DT we have needed since Booger left the team. The guy is explosive and can rush from the interior and fits the mold CB wants.

#23 From a trade with lets say the Bills, Jordan Love QB Utah State

You all know enough about this guy now that I don't need to go into great detail. I don't believe he is worth #13 but the next team i see taking him after 13 is the Patriots so hes not really an option at 34. He has the least to develop over all other QB's after Herbert, Burrow and Tua. He will not be the starter in 2020 unless of an injury.

#34  Leviska Shenault WR Colorado

A good height weight speed guy who I believe can succeed at the next level. His production dropped some this year and had some injuries. This may change as my WR pick because it is very likely Ruggs or Higgens may drop here if last years draft is any indication and i would rather have either of those guys instead.

#109  Jack Driscoll OT Auburn

I am basing this off we keep Costanzo this year and either build Jack up to eventually replace him or kick smith back in at guard and have his old teammate play next to him at RT

#141 Thomas Graham CB Oregon

Could use depth at slot CB

#171 (From the Jets) Collin Johnson WR Texas

I think he is going to have a bad 40 and 3 cone and its going to drop him pretty far in the drat with how loaded this class is at WR but should be an excellent candidate for a converted TE. There is absolutely no guarantee he will be here but this far down into the draft is a crap shoot

#205 Ricky Deberry OLB Towson

Good size and weight .

Where's the RB on your mock?

I highly doubt i take a RB in any of my mocks. Between Mack, Hines, Wilkins and Williams plus a UDFA or FA we will be fine and other positions should be addressed.

I LIKE it

Fills some major holes and is reasonable

IF.... IF Love is our guy, and he tests well, this would be great

Love COULD light it up at Combine and some QB team in front of us, OR someone behind us, move up to take him

What are you giving up to get the pick for Love

Lost me when I saw pick #34.

Meaning trading and getting back into the first round, that pick #34 will be involved 100% of the time.

If we are trading our #34 then we are moving into the early teens. An early teens 2nd and early teens 3rd are enough to move into the mid 20's. Maybe throw in a 6th or 7th to help. We received #49 and a future 2nd round pick for #26.

Colts had the 26th pick last year and acquired Two Redskins 2nd RD picks for it. Pick 34 (Wash) went to the Colts in 2019.

I got it everyone wants the world in their Mocks, and get everything on the cheap. It don’t work that way.

Like I said, keeping pick 34 don’t add up in your mock.

I would love this as long as Jordan Love is actually worth it. It's early but I'm not liking the QBs who will be available to us at 13, not for that pick that is. I am also leaning towards a DT at 13 but there are other great options to improve this team at that pick.

    • If the league has to add games to the end of the season they will just push back the playoffs. They might be able to switch some bye weeks around also.
    • Too many stalled drives before we too the foot off. Run game did not surprise me given NYJ were 2nd best vs the run last year. The INTs didn't really equate to lost possessions. They were simply an interruption in an opponent's possession that gave us points.
    • I strongly disagree. We have plenty of talent on O. Game plan, play calling, and personnel choice in situational downs have been highly questionable. The pass/run mix game 1 was heavy pass, and just didn't make sense vs Jax, and especially in game 1 after no preseason with the RBs we had to start the year. The heavy run in G2 was an overreaction to G1. The heavy run in G3 was just silly given it's the Jet's strength.   Reich has a history of not attacking a teams weakness while going heavy against their strengths (see Miami last year). Play calling in general, has been predictable and conservative. I'll cut him a break there since perhaps he doesn't want to show much this early, but if he doesn't open things up soon, I'll have to scratch my head on that too. Maybe it's partly covid, but other teams look far more dynamic. We had WRs and TEs open all game Sunday, and needed to get some of the young WRs experience. It was a lost opportunity.   And IMO, even JB regressed with Reich from 2017 to 2019. The stats were very similar, but JB in 2019 had a heck of a lot better OL, and was sacked half the amount he was in 2017.    I really like Frank as a person, but it's not like his track record can't be questioned. In his two years in Phily as OC, Pederson called the plays so not much to glean from. In his two years as OC in LA, he had horrible balance both years, and was fired after being last in the league rushing and a 4-12 record. He's not all the much better than Pagano thus far, and has a much better roster.    Not saying at all we need to fire Frank, or anything like that. I am saying though he's not done anything extraordinary thus far though. He's got no excuses this year.   I agree. I can understand him not playing early last year when we had Doyle and Ebron both, but we should absolutely see him get a good snap share this year. Maybe short term a little, but honestly I'm not worried. We did fine when he was out last year. Williams had two 100 games in a row when Mack was out. Taylor will be fine with our OL. Having Taylor and Mack was an embarrassment of riches, but we're just fine with Taylor/Wilkins/Hines.   Again, IMO, goes back to game plan. We didn't run the ball a bunch against a team (Jax) that was 5th worst in the league vs the run last year. Then, we ran the ball a lot vs MN (better than they appear vs the run) and NYJ (who were 2nd best vs the run last year). Sorry, that just doesn't make sense.   Then add in things like using Hines between the tackles in goal line situations. Luck leaving was the only truly big issue. Pagano had to deal with Luck being gone a year too, and gimpy a few other years. Pagano did better (record wise) his first 3 years with a healthy Luck, then Reich did with a healthy Luck in 2018, and had a better roster on both sides, especially OL.  Not really. Rivers did great using a ton of different pass catchers this week, when allowed to throw. And we had guys wide open all game. Mo did fine in Doyle's place. Both Hines and Taylor are catching the ball well and are 22/23 on targets. TY looked better this week. Pascal is still there. Fountain got his feet wet. Taylor's AVG was good running. Our OL has been balling out and Rivers only sacked twice (on track for only 11 total this year).
    • Goodness. This is how the outbreaks start.   The first real test of NFL protocols. Let’s hope they can get a handle on it.
