Draft Order / Teams with QB needs / Remaining Schedule

The remaining two games

  1. 1. What is your preference?

    • Lose out and improve draft position
    • Win every game we can and try to build on something for next year
    • Regardless of Ws or Ls, give the young guys snaps to evaluate them in game situations
    • It sucks being out of the playoffs and I just don't care

Tie Breakers

In situations where teams finished the previous season with identical records, the determination of draft position is decided by strength of schedule — the aggregate winning percentage of a team’s opponents. The team that played the schedule with the lowest winning percentage will be awarded the higher pick.

If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division or conference tiebreakers are applied. If the divisional or conference tiebreakers are not applicable, or ties still exist between teams of different conferences, ties will be broken the following tie-breaking method:

Head-to-head, if applicable
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)
Strength of victory in all games
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
Best net points in all games
Best net touchdowns in all games
Coin toss

I saw a tweet we could even move up to as far as 6th if we lose out and some other teams win.

Like the above shows, we could end up anywhere 6 and 20. Really 19 given SoS tie breaker.

Just cheer for 6-20 to all win, and if they are playing each other, cheer for the teams in front of us to win. Especially those with SoS advantages.

And you lose the game to draft -- Most GMs after they're eliminated.. :goodluck:

Burrow your way down to the bottom of the league as far as possible. Even if it hurts now, get yourself to a place where you can draft the QB you love. Ease on down the road just in case the Jax and Panthers want a QB too.

If we lose out we are essentially guaranteed a top 10 pick, with hiw the remaining schedule plays out.

This week:

Oak(6-8)vs LAC(5-9) ~ both have higher picks than us at the moment.

After today 1 will be below us if we lose, either way.

Atl(5-9) vs Jac(5-9) ~ both have higher picks than us at the moment.

After today, as long as they dont tie, 1 of these teams will be below us.(SOS)

Car(5-9) vs Ind(6-8) ~ Carolina has a higher pick than us at the moment.

A loss would have us drafting in front of them after this week.

Den(5-9) vs Det(3-10-1) ~ Denver picks in front of us at the moment.

If Denver wins and we lose we will slot higher after this week.

NYJ (5-9) vs Pit(8-6) ~ Jets slot in front of us at the moment.

Would be close on SOS tie breaker if Jets win. Definitely would slot higher after they play Bills in week 17as long as we lose out.

So right there we get to #9 or #10 this week with a loss, regardless who wins other games.

Then next week there is more big matchups to decide draft order.

Oak vs Den

Ind vs Jack.

Long shot at #6 with Arizona winning both games. Could happen though.

Should be entertaining to say the least.

It matters where we draft, but I'm not sure how much it matters.  All teams in red will want the highest pick of all of the other red teams.  They will try to play leap frog if they can.

What really needs to be looked at is how much ammo every team has.  MIA obviously has the most.  We have two seconds and that probably ranks us pretty high in terms of resources.

I'm assuming we think WASH is sticking with Haskins...and not Tua?

Haskins has looked pretty good since he started. I think they like what they have. Especially with is good friend terry at WR.

Didn't he start early then was benched?  He's gotten better as the season went on.

But as we know, a QB looks better when he's got good receiver help.

I think we have to remember also although teams might be liking for a QB how many will invest in one in the first round.  Some of them might wait until a later round. Especially ones that already have a starter.

I also don't think a team is NOT going to draft one in hopes of being in position to get Lawrence or Fields next year.  Teams don't plan to go winless the next year, just to pin their hopes on a college Qb when they have a college Qb staring at them this year.

I think each of these Qbs are as good or better than the Mayfield, Rosen, Darnold, and Allen group that went top 7.

So get ready for some wheeling/dealing this spring, IMO.  When that happens, the price goes up.

(this opinion could change tomorrow of course..:default_20smile:)

Good summary. I almost did the same.

While I hate to cheer for a loss, a few slots might really matter.

At minimum, we need to cheer really hard for Washington to lose out.

Good call, need to update my routing for list to include.

NYG

MIA

To add, Washington might be a good trade partner (1st round), so having them high is to our advantage X2. Really, NYJ, NYG, and AZ all could be trade targets. Obviously we have prior trade history with WA and NYJ.

If WA stays at the number two pick they are not trading back because they can get chase young. Lions are now at 3. Will they take a QB. Right now bengals, lions, and Miami could all be taking a QB. Lions might just take the best player and not take a QB. Then you have the chargers, Oakland, and panthers. This is going to be a ingesting draft.

If WA stays at two and get chase young  both NY teams might be a good trade partner.

i don’t think Steelers have a first round pick.

You are right about the price going up. Panthers might end up just sticking with Cam one more year and see if Grier can develop.

Man, looking at that group of QB’s listed, what in the world happened to Rosen? What’s his major malfunction? Arm strength, accuracy, touch, ability to read? Can he do any of these things or is he bad at all? Kind of shocking how he went from top 10 draft pick in 2018 to obscurity. Is he a Ryan leaf or Jamarcus Russell type miss?

The guy has been setup for failure. However, he couldn’t beat out Fitzmagic, so that’s kinda a red flag to me. I wouldn’t feel good about rolling with him unless a good plan B was on the roster.

I definitely 100% don't want Rosen, but Fitzmagic has some skills and when hes on he's on, but has always been streaky and made bad decisions. But I bet it would be harder to beat him out than you think; especially on the practice field.
