Colts @ Saints Game Day thread

Our secondary looks like crap when you can’t get a pass rush. This defense needs a lot of upgrades. Offense is pathetic.

You know what disappoints me the most is the coaches not having this team ready. The little effort they have played with tonight boils down to coaching.

jacoby 4 of 12 for 30 yards he is on fire tonight guys might hit 80 yards by the end of the game .

Holy crap...I just stumbled across Chloe’s Twitter (obvious by the twitter handle) and he/she is blaming absolutely everybody but JB. I’m only saying it because it’s kind of extreme the way she’s call

Andrew Luck enjoying retirement!

If Irsay is as serious about this team as he talks acts like, I think he’ll have to force his hand this offseason and make Ballard do some trading/signing, etc.

We cannot continue to rely on late round draft picks and hope they pan out.

I do agree with the first part but they have had two first rounders and seven second rounders in three years and have two more second rounders next year.  They are spending high draft capital.

Not a fan of having the most cap space 3 years in a row.

Sure we could save the money by cutting JB. but then what?

Ballard does not spend.

My thoughts too. Ballard will just stack picks and money and keep putting a trash team on the field year in and out.

Colts are done as an organization. Here comes a decade of trash.

This makes no sense.

like it or not, Hoyer and Kelly are worse than our chances with JB. They just are.

I don't believe it. My 16 y/o daughter could produce exactly this much offense and she weighs 85 pounds and knows nothing about football. IT IS TIME TO REMOVE JB. Hoyer at least has up and down games over his career. Kelly we have yet to see so nobody know crappy or good he can be. This franchise is falling into the Bengals level. We can't offense, we can't defense and our special teams is anything but special. Quite honestly, its starting to get to the point where the noise asking whether Reich is the right leader are going to start getting louder. The way they handled this Vinny issue and now a really poor QB in JB handling. Nah, its time to see anyone else besides JB at this time. Irsay is risking losing a portion of the fanbase who has hung around and was enthusiastic with Reich but staying the course when the plane is in a straight nose dive thinking the plane will automatically correct itself is bad.

You keep holding the faith little buddy, I commend you for it.

No pass rush- hard to assess secondary. Brees is  a surgeon. Makes all his throws. JB has missed wide open receivers. JB does not have the passing touch that Brees has.

Jacoby doesn’t have a lot of things Brees does...

I cant watch much more of JB

Yeah.  Tonight he is beyond bad.  I try to look at it objectively and point out his good points when he has them, but they are few and far between tonight.  Completely off the rails tonight.

Didn’t I say the offense looks like crap. Come on.

I’ve yet to hear you say JB though. I mean TY is pretty good right? But somehow with JB he might as well be in the sidelines.

Say it, the majority of the issue is JB. You know how hard it is to defend Brees? Now add absolutely no production on O and you get the D you see tonight

The defense was awful before they got tired.  She’s right EVERYONE has been pathetic tonight.

    • https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2020/passing_advanced.htm   Rivers had an ungodly amount of YAC, and it is a testament to his best skill, anticipation and letting the pass catcher gain yards after the catch. It shows up in the stats. Brady, Allen, Stafford , Watson, Tannehill, Mayfield all have Rivers beat in completed air yards per completion (sort by CAY/completion) by close to 2 yards. If you however sort it by YAC per completion, Rivers is Top 2 in the league, only after Aaron Rodgers.   This also means Reich and Sirianni have done an excellent job to be Top 4 in the league in YAC and Top 2 in the league in YAC per completion, given that Rivers is not getting all that YAC because he extends plays whatsoever (might be the case with Rodgers and Mahomes but not with Rivers).
    • Rivers was EXACTLY what the Colts thought he would be. The version of the Colts you saw in 2020 is very close to what Reich and Ballard envisioned given what happened in 2019. I get what you're trying to say but given that Rivers is what they thought he'd be, and honestly he's what I expected he'd be. I don't really understand your post objective.   Are you trying to say he wasn't GREAT? Well yeah, he has obvious limitations. He limits the offense because of those physical handicaps. Are you saying he cannot carry the team? I think he needs pieces around him to stand a chance of winning. We saw those pieces in 2020, and the goal was not far off.  Do the Colts need a future plan? 100%   Saying he wasn't very good seems like you're trying to pi$$ all over the guy. He was exactly as advertised and maybe even more. You dont want him throwing 100 times, sure but there'll be games where the defense stacks against Indy's run game and he HAS to throw. Can he do it then? I think the answer is yes. It isn't always pretty or perfect but it's fit to purpose, and in the condition the team is right now, you take that and keep it moving.
    • He quickly got out of the AFC.. AFC had two top dogs for a decade while the NFC was killing itself. JUST this year the AFC comes out of nowhere and the NFC is struggling.   And yes this too.. they combined caught 7 passes for a touchdown and about 70 yards Sunday... (Godwin did drop one) disgusting.. The saints were just itching to lose that one.   It's hard to tell if our season would've been different I can't blame all of our loses on Rivers.. although we had the ball in our hands with a chance to win, in 4 of our 6 loses. But our weapons aren't the same as the Tampa Bay All pros.
    • I can agree for the most part on that sentiment, but in this case, they're just talking about what PFF proposed for our FA signings. The point still remains that those predictions from PFF are poorly thought out.
    • Brady wouldn't have signed here.  He likely would've pulled a McDaniels and backed out at the 11th hour.  Hard no.
