All these big bucks getting thrown around to WRs here in the off season got me thinking. Who are in your opinion the best players at there positions. Lets start with offense, and if it goes well we can go to def.

In Order....

QB:Aaron Rodgers... (Big Gap).....Tom Brady-Drew Brees-Eli Manning-Matthew Stafford-Phillip Rivers-Big Ben-Matt Ryan-Cam Newton- Tony Romo

RB: Arian Foster-Adrian Peterson-Chris Johnson-Ray Rice-Steven Jackson-MJD- Michael Turner-Lesean Mccoy-Marshawn Lynch-Deangelo Williams

WR: Larry Fitzgerald-Calvin Johnson....(Massive Gap).....Andre Johnson-Roddy White-Brandon Marshall-Mike Wallace-Hakeem Nicks- Dwayne Bowe-Greg Jennings-Miles Austin

I noticed I didnt put any of the top$ making WR this year in FA on that list. Funny how that works...

QB: Aaron Rodgers ... (tiny gap) ... Tom Brady-Drew Brees ... (gap) ... Eli Manning-Phillip Rivers-Matt Schaub-Ben Rothlesberger ... (gap) ... Tony Romo-Matthew Stafford-Matt Ryan ... (tiny gap) ... Jay cutler.

I would place Peyton Manning right now with Eli, Phillip, Matt and Ben until I see his first game.

RB: Arian Foster-Adrian Peterson ... (gap) ... Chris Johnson-Ray Rice-Steven Jackson-Maurice Jones Drew-LeSean McCoy ... (big gap) ... Michael Turner-Matt Forte-Frank Gore-Darren McFadden ... (gap) ... Marshawn Lynch-Deangelo Williams-Shonne Green ... (fall of the table gap) ...

I may have missed someone that belongs above the "fall of the table gap" and I was tempted to stop at Darren McFadden.

IMO Andre Johnson is the most overrated WR in the league.

I don't know why Cutler gets thrown in the Matt Ryan/Joe Flacco category. He carries his team. The Bears had nobody to throw to, and the worst Oline in the league, yet he still had them at what, 7-2 before he got hurt? He goes down and their defense just about scores more points than the offense.

I don't know that they're the best backs in the league, but MJD, Marshawn Lynch, and Frank Gore are my favorite backs in the league. I like workhorses that run low and keep their feet moving. If you ask me Arian Foster is the beneficiary of the best Oline in the league, and a really scumbaggish cut blocking scheme.

For WR it's Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. But man did Detroit break the bank for that guy.

Your list is close to what I have. Just switch Calvin and Fitz. Also replace Cam with Stafford.

    • Interesting stuff there. Trey Lance from everything we have heard is a really great kid. He really lights up a room when he does interviews.
    • You and I had discussed that we couldn't figure out what the Colts were trying to do with their personnel.  With this draft, it appears they are trying to run like hockey shift changes with Dlinemen ala San Francisco.   I don't think either one of these guys projects to be a big pass rusher, but both appear to me to me a Jadeveon Clowney type of edge setter and double team takers.  Clowney is a good player.     I agree with you on the Paye and Dayo picks as far as being  year 3 types, hopefully contributors.   I don't see us being better this year.  Paye cannot replace Houston and Autry, and the other guy probably won't be a significant contributor.    I am fine with the LT thing.  I don't think the team could afford to invest too much more draft capital or salary in the Oline.   I still think we need a big weapon on O in the passing game.  I don't think any of our guys can fill this primary, alpha receiver type of role.   The potential problem with this draft IMO, is by the time Paye and Day potentially become studs, we will be paying out the nose on LG and Will, and will still be looking for contributers in key positions.   I think Ballard has done a great job making us competitive, but so far I don't see us rising from 2nd tier team to a 1st tier team unless Wentz is way better than PR.  They will much to your pleasure open up the play book with CW.  Hope it works out.
    • I honestly think that's the point of this visit.   I'm not convinced that is the case. I think there's a ton of pressure and criticism in the wake of not addressing LT in the draft and he has to publicly commit to the guy that is slotted in at LT1 at the moment. His statements about Tevi have been followed by "but we'll continue to scour the market", which tells me that they're not sold on him at all and will sign a FA if they can get an upgrade over Tevi.
    • Or.... they could conceivably move Strachan into a 4th TE role.....With an eye to the future. Doyle won’t be around much longer. If he can put on 10-15 pounds and keep his quickness, who knows?  In that scenario, both he and Patmon could make the squad.
    • Hey now...Freiermuth went the very next pick. Considering they went TE with their 3rd pick (and probably a reach at that)...it was obviously a huge priority.   So damn close though. Just a brutal series of events for those of us who liked him as the next Colts TE1.   I would have been very happy with Marshall as well. If you aren’t going with the TE2 in the class...then grab the WR who many had a late 1st round grade on that put up big production last year when Chase and Jefferson weren’t hogging the targets. I actually think he’s a better prospect than Pitt...but the pair could have formed a very solid duo.    I still think my prediction about them drafting a TE and getting Ertz will come true...especially now that the TE they drafted is a different type of TE and similar to Burton.
