Patriots involved in another Spygate?

And, just for the record, if I were a NFL team I'd never, NEVER, let a patriots cameraman enter my stadium...that is just too ingenuous...

I feel the same.

The video guys were “doing their job”.

Anyone else assumed they were still doing WHATEVER it takes.

Anyone surprised by this?

Bill explains-

“I heard about this, and evidently this is our production people on the TV show that were there,” Belichick said, via Pats Pulpit. “I have absolutely nothing to do — we have absolutely nothing to do with anything that they produce, direct, shoot or anything. I’ve never even seen any of their tapes or anything else. So this is something that we 100 percent have zero involvement with. This is something that you would have to talk to the production people about and what they were doing and whatever it was.”

A team really doesn't need a special production video team to record the upcoming opponents sidelines/coaches.  Think about it, someone placed in the stands with an advanced smartphone with tons of memory can take HQ video from the stands wearing normal non team oriented clothing.  They can later synch it up to scouts notes (who was calling plays, how their arm, hands were vs. what was run, down/distance, etc) to see if some gestures tip certain plays... etc. They also have access after a game to All 22 coaches film, to synch the hand written notes up to.

I guess the only positive is that it is extremely embarrassing to get caught filming the BENGALS.    Come on man !   Really Bill?    Seriously?      Seriously!     Seriuosly?

Advance scouts scout every team. They also get the 'scout team' prepped to emulate the upcoming opponents formations/p\lays.

If that's true, they deserve the college football equivalent of the death penalty.  Everything they've accomplished should be vacated.  Like seriously.  Just unreal and a complete disregard for the integrity of the sport, even after being heavily penalized for disregarding the integrity of the sport.

They already don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.  I definitely don't think anyone outside of Foxboro would ever take their accomplishments seriously.  I mean how could you take it seriously?  What a sham...

That's a fine.  Big one. They should just hire a college kid with an huge smartphone to film for them...  ooops!  ;)

Every team has advance scouts doing extensive note taking on upcoming opponents, and All 22 video to correlate. OTOH, rules were broken...

* cheating again aye?  Hmmm that’s so hard to believe. Interesting that this happened recently as well...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/watch-bills-coach-angrily-motion-patriots-staffers-field-pregame%3famp

One of the comments you hear from teams that have lost to the * is that they sometimes seem to know exactly what play they are going to call against them, almost like they have the playbook in hand. Coincidence? Yeah, no.

This is much worse than what I thought it would be.  The Pats staffers sound like they've been caught and are trying to cover up what they know they shouldn't be doing.  Doesn't seem as innocent as what was being reported earlier

I hope like hell that is real...

Somehow I worry we are all being trolled by the Patriots

Yes, caught breaking rules. No question.  Why do teams (notably a certain one) do this?  If I was of a cheating mind, I'd pay a fan to wear the opposing teams fan gear, buy them a primo seat at the game, equip them with a top notch Go Pro or Hi Tech smartphone with tons of memory, let them have at it (video).

Who would be able to tell?

Yes, and make sure they have endless access to Robert Kraft's trafficked underage girls so they keep quiet

Not sure I see the smoking gun here just yet. Let's see how all the is explained over the next few days. We all know the NFL will make every effort to make this go away

I dunno, looks pretty bad to me.

Bengals guy: "There's no scout in this footage"

Pats guy: "Yeah....we're trying to get the field footage.....my bad" (my bad = presumption of doing something wrong)

Bengals: "But this isn't the field"

Pats: "We'll delete it" (no explanation, just again presumption of guilt and trying to fix things)

Bengals: "The damage is already done"

Pats: "No, we'll delete it. I'll delete it now. I can't get it back if I delete it. I'm being honest with you. I don't have a computer to get it back from. I'll delete it now" (trying to delete the evidence, very clear guilty conscience speaking)

This was reported as being a big misunderstanding, but from how the Pats staffers are talking, it sounds like this is worse than that.  They sound extremely guilty and like they were caught red-handed and are just trying to cover it all up, kind of like "let's just delete the evidence and forget this ever happened".  You'll never hear an innocent person say that

Didn't someone post something about the Patriots had a looking streak of no Super Bowl wins until they started up the Kraft Productions Do You Job series? Then it was like 3 in 4 or 5 years.

Hmmmm pretty coincidenti.

Is it the Do Your Job series that is smoking gun or simply the fact that they were clearly doing something wrong against the worst team in the NFL the week before they played them? To me, it just provides proof that they are still breaking rules after everything that has happened and they should be punished under this assumption.

At this point, who can really believe the Patriots. I'm not surprised anymore. And to be honest, if the NFL justtakes the Pats word and ignores all the circumstantial evidence and buys all the coincidences that the Pats are asking of them, I'll no longer take the sport seriously. And if thats the case, I won't really care to watch it.

It'll be like college football, the NBA and MLB to me. Those leagues cater to certain markets and want the advantages in the major markets. Its why I don't really watch anymore. The NFL will have become that.

Call me a fake or fairweather fan, but I just don't care to watch a sport that isn't based on parity and fair, competitive play. I fear the NFL will come out of this permitting, in a way, cheating.

Peyton is probably thinking damn, only if I had cheated (won another SB) the media would've maybe considered me the GOAT instead of that cheater in Massachusetts :funny:. @buffalo34, your team has a chance next week to destroy the demons of many years. Go for it man. Good luck. Nice win tonight, the world is pulling for you next week. You guys have a chance to win at Foxboro and win the division, also prevent the Pats from getting a BYE.

Give everyone a present for Christmas and drop those chumps.

I'm Glad Jay Glazer actually got some of the footage before NFL security took it to Goodell.

Here's Jay with the Fox football team discussing it pre-game-

Jay is right.  Where (and how to find out) was it going; to who? That is the thing now.

Can the Pats afford to lose another $250k and a 1st round draft pick (or more) and BB another $500,000 if they can tie him in?  Why would they even attempt it? SMH.

Yes, as I've mentioned, an Advance Scout does go and take notes on a team. Sub packages, time to sub, signals given, personnel groupings, etc..  but they (team or reps) cant video it real time.  However, they can later get All 22 video and then correlate it.  I think all teams do that.

I think it’s improbable  to think that BB got caught cheating in Spygate and never did it again. Also, I don’t think the fines or the draft pick matter to him. He uses cast offs anyway and he will use FA to get that one special CB to take away a teams best player and he is set. Besides that absolutely needs an oline that protects a non mobile Brady. He can win a Super Bowl with that. Why? Cause he knows what the other team is gonna do. Hint. Interception on the goal line against Seattle. BB told the guy to watch for it. He knew from tape, signals, ESP or something but he knew.

Best 7 season run in NFL history is our own regarding regular season wins. From 2003-2009 the Colts went 89-23 and won a SB, most regular season wins ever in a 7 season span. 7 seasons is a huge sample size.

Yeah, no.  Patriots eclipsed that this season.

Nothing to this story, but I’m shocked that Colt fans have gone off the deep end about an innocuous event during which literally nothing significant happened.

I really don't care at this point but you have to admit it is strange how the Pats are the only team that keeps getting caught doing something shady. It usually happens with them about every 3 or 4 years where something comes up.

It's not just Colts fans. I only listen to two NFL podcasts (Ross Tucker & Around the NFL) and the general sentiment of Colts fans is echoed. Tucker is an ex-Patriot and usually praises them for everything they do. A quick scan over Reddit and Twitter reveals the same.

It wasn’t the Patriots, it was a group contracted to do that documentary.

Just got thru a 1/2 of broadcast & coach’s copy of a Bengals game. Players onfield don’t look to sideline (either side of ball) for audibles/adjustments. Calls come in thru headset, shifts by other side prompt signaling between players—not w/ sideline. This whole thing is *ic

Well the NFL and other people around the NFL seem to think otherwise.

Even Teddy Bruschi said it was a huge mistake and didn't look good.

With all the high dollar fines the Patriots have paid it seems they learn nothing.

It's against the rules,   what part of that do Patriots fans have a hard time understanding?    Whether or not it helped them is irrelevant.    It's against the rules.      There will be a huge fine.   Not that it matters,   Kraft has super deep pockets.    The fine should be taken from their salary cap

That is just like Deflategate, Pats fans and the media laugh it off  because most think they would've beat us anyway and they did win 45-7. That is irrelevant though, they still cheated and I will always believe Tom knew what was going on.

A closet Pats fan goes to a Colts forum and is shocked we would side with them. Whats more shocking is the nincompoopery required to go into said Colts forums and start spewing about the benefit derived from it as tho it even matters. They were punished for it before, and it would be a travesty if the punishment weren't significantly worse. Escalated punishment is the way the world works.

But since you brought up "innocuous event," 6 super bowl wins asterisked by either Spygate 1 or Spygate 2. 0 super bowl wins without cheating. Whatever the benefit derived, Bill obviously needed it to get over the hump.

    • Do u ever get there is any sense of urgency with Ballard when he speaks bout the team? I hear a lot of I think they should. He just comes across like a guy who feels that he is safe as long as Irsay is the owner. Smooth talker, I guess, and I tire of the soft ball questions from the media. Your team was like at the bottom of the league and that was against horrendous qb play.  Your 2nd round pick corner couldn't stay healthy. Your other corners are late round picks and one coming back from serious injury. I know it's a presser and he can't give it away but man, you would think his defense is just peachy. I honestly think this D needs so much work both schematically and on the talent side. I do think listening to him, he will trade back. I think that the guys that he really covets will be gone or way too expensive. The  top 3 wrs will be gone as will be Bowers. Mitchell is probably not his guy the Dends will go fast. There might be a guy at say 12 but I think he won't pill the trigger and say give  up a 2nd or 3r rounder.
    • I see most of this forum is fine with Ballard doing what Ballard's always done.   So I'll just remind everybody that he is 54-60-1 and he doesn't have the QB excuse anymore. If he thinks that playing conservative with trading back for more picks and the cap are always the way to go, then I just hope the fan base, and Irsay especially, make no excuses for how those picks work out (and how the top prospects that he didn't make moves for worked out). It's going to be incredibly easy to compare how his strategy works vs what the Texans and Jags have done in FA this year, and it'll be very easy to follow how MHJ,Nabers,Odunze and Bowers perform.
    • MJH does not have elite speed. He didn't even run a 40. Nabors has elite speed but not size. Jones would have been a combination of both of them if u picked out their elite traits. Jones was like Calvin Johnson. Just  absolute freaks of nature that shouldn't be able to do what they do at that size.
    • I think u r missing my point. Pick a player that fits and excels in your scheme. Guys like Nabers and MJH are freaks and r not scheme dependant. Think of the Rams. Kupp is good, but they dipped into the draft and amazingly draft another stud because he fits their scheme and does not have elite triats. It is similar to the way they draft corners. They r typical zone corners. U can let one-way if they want to much as u can go back into the draft and hopefully get another in the 2nd. That is my point.
