3 QB and now 3 Kickers

Recommended Posts

I have lost my patience with Ballard and the coaching staff. Part of the responsibility of upper Management is sometime you have to make difficult decisions.

We do not need 3 QB,s  What we do need to do is make an honest appraisal of our existing talent so we can make intelligent decisions this off season. Promote Kelly to number 2 and bring in some talent to evaluate not necessarily a QB.

Ok the should AV still be our kicker ship has sailed, put him on IR and move on. We can still thank him, honor his accomplishments from IR. I honestly do not understand why he would want to continue embarrass his self. Regardless of what has been said I believe he is killing the Locker room and hurting team. Here is another opportunity for some young talent to be added to our roster.

Add 2 new players to active roster and 2 new players to Practice Squad, and with Ballards record finding talent we may hit a home run.

Bottom line this stop the nonsense and move on

Those moves generally happen when a team is mathematically eliminated.  Up until then, management makes decisions to try to put the best chance of winning on the field, not to evaluate the future.

Make Kelly number 2 cut Hoyer and go from there.

Of all the things to be concerned with, this doesn't make the list. Not even close.

First, plenty of teams carry three QBs. I went through and posted a list a few weeks ago. More than half.

Second, we have two active kickers, not three.

The punter isn't a kicker.

I know. But he wouldn't be alone on this forum for counting him as such

I'm being pedantic, but my point is that the complaint is we have one kicker more than we need. By saying "three kickers," it becomes an exaggeration.

But on a topic like this, that should not be surprising.

I agree. And its only getting worse.  Just wait, the moment we become mathematically out of the playoffs after starting 5-2, people gonna flip.

How does one open with "I've had it with Ballard.." then proceed to rant on, and on, about carrying 2 prospects on the active roster. Finally closing with "..Ballards excellent track record on finding talent". Without seeing the irony of the whole thing?

    • It's almost as if playstyle and traits actually matter. It's almost as if surrounding talent matters, right? Shocking indeed.
    • 9th by ESPN analytics.   Used Wins Above Replacement as their main metric.   Apologies,  it's a Premium story and I'm never quite sure what I'm allowed to reveal about stories like that.   Remember,  we started off drafting 26th...     and then traded back to 34th where we took Rock.   So, from there our class of Rock, Ben, Parris, Bobby, Khari, Tell and Speed did well enough to have us ranked 9th overall.   With his full staff in place,  we have a front office that seems to have a good idea of what they're doing.
    • It is funny how this "game manager" tag gets stuck on Fromm.  Last year Fromm threw 30 TDs, Love had 32.  Yet, Love is the playmaker and Fromm a game manager.  So this year Love throws 20 TDs and it is blamed on the changes in coaching and players around him.  Fromm through less TDs this year because they had a run orientated team.  But Fromm is a game manager.  Or he has great talent around him.  Couldn't that argument be made for Burrow?  I like your points here.  I like Fromm because he is decisive and accurate and go throw progressions well.  As much as people like to say the NFL is changing you need QBs to make plays out of the pocket, if you look at the final 4 QBs, Mahomes in the only one I would say would do that.  The players who succeed are ultimately the ones who make plays from the pocket.  It always has been that way and always will be that way.  Because it ultimately is about timing.  Guys like Watson make a few nice plays a game but are inconsistent.  I would rather have someone who is efficient and consistenly makes the right throws.
