Yes, desperate for a QB that can complete passes beyond five yards and make touchdowns in the red zone so we can get Ws and get into the playoffs. Yes, there are some gems in the draft just pick the best ones, Fromm is one of them. We won't know until we draft him of course.
What @chad72 said. Pick 13 is not a huge gamble for a QB. Not a great loss of investment if he doesn't work out. Positional players are less valued, so a waste of a pick 13 on a positional player is a bigger deal.
I would take the highest floor QB at whatever slot made sense, and if Herbert is still on the board at 13, that's an easy pick.
Looks to me like Becton and Fulton will still be available and Herbert and Brown will be gone.
That said, if we don't want Love or Kinlaw here, CB can trade back quite a ways to get as much capital as possible.
It just means that he's free. So he's able to now sign a multi year deal with the Jags if they meet his demands, rather than being franchised.
We just spent 2 second rounders on EDGES to develop, and Houston is under contract. He would not be a great investment considering how we just invested.
He's been the best corner at the Senior Bowl according to many analysts. I just checked his measurables... he's a bit on the small side and not very long. Still a really good player though. I wonder if we have similar thresholds to Seattle about cornerback length... I really hope he's on our board.
