Draft Wishlist for Colts for 2020

Recommended Posts

Here is my wishlist draft for the Colts in the upcoming 2020 draft. I still think our lack of playmakers outside of Hilton really hurts this offense so it's time to get a stud opposite TY to bring in.

• Ballard trades 34th overall pick to NYJ for their 37th overall, and 3rd round picks

Round 1 Pick 18: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

-Probably my favorite WR in this class, he offers DeAndre Hopkins type upside for this offense.

Round 2 Pick 5 (NYJ): Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina

-Ballard loves long DL prospects and Kinlaw offers plenty of that. He would be a great fit as a pass rushing DT for Indy.

Round 2 Pick 18: Alaric Jackson, OT, Iowa

-I really like OT Jackson and he could potentially take over for Castanzo long term at LT. For now though he'd be a great swing backup OT.

Round 3 Pick 5 (NYJ): Jordan Love, QB, Utah State

-Ballard gets his guy in the early 3rd whom Reich can groom for a year or 2 behind Brissett.

Round 3 Pick 18: JK Dobbins, RB, Ohio State

-I think Mack is a nice player, but not an every down RB who can stay healthy. Dobbins I feel is that.

Round 4 Pick 18: Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue

-He would pair well with Doyle as the 1 2 punch at TE. Ebron needs to go.

Round 5 Pick 17: Julian Blackmon, CB, Utah

-Talented corner who provides depth

Round 6 Pick 5: Khalil Davis, DT, Nebraska

-Solid NT prospect for Eberflus

Round 6 Pick 18: Tremayne Anchrum, OG, Clemson

-We need depth at OG

Round 7 Pick 18: Rodrigo Blankenship, K, Georgia

-I think this pick needs no explanation

Nice effort.

My only negative comment would be that trading down from 34 to 37 will not get you a 3.   Not even close.   The value chart shows the drop us only 30 points.   That gets you a 5.

Remember...  in this past draft, when we traded down from 46 to 49 (Benogu) we only got a 5.   And in the 18 draft, when we traded down from 49 to 52 (Turay) we again only got a 5.

Round 2 Pick 18: Alaric Jackson, OT, Iowa
Round 3 Pick 13 (CLE): Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Round 3 Pick 18: Cam Akers, RB, Florida State
Round 4 Pick 18: Alton Robinson, DE/OLB, Syracuse
Round 5 Pick 18: Raequan Williams, DT, Michigan State
Round 6 Pick 5: Michael Pittman, WR, USC

Jordan Love is not by any means falling to the 3rd round.  He's probably a top 20 pick.

NFL coaches and GM's look at ceiling a lot, probably one of the most important things to them.  Especially coaches because they by nature believe they can get the best (ceiling) out of players.  Love has an extremely high ceiling.

One coach is going to see him and say they can fix him and he'll go in the first.
