I was rewatching our games and I noticed that the TV camera's are occasionally focused on Frank's face in between the plays. Most OC cover their lips in case there are lip readers stealing the play call. (i.e Josh McDaniel, Sean Payton) Someone should alert Frank about that possibility.  Hopefully I am just paranoid. Sorry.

Frank has likely only shown a fraction of the playbook thus far, so I wouldn't worry. He puts wrinkles in every week, so the same play might be vastly different to defend.

I have noticed this too which I find odd that he doesn't cover his mouth as well.

I see him cover his lips at times, or maybe he's just holding the play sheet closely. There are times when he definitely isn't though.

But yeah, considering teams will try to get any edge on the opposition, I don't consider it paranoia particularly.

Lets be real, Frank is just so good, that he is like a ventriloquist except he can hide his actual words when moving his mouth

Now, I can't say why all the coaches do it but John Gruden is the one that started it while he was the coach of the Raiders.  I saw an interview with him where he laughed at the notion that he did it so teams couldn't read his lips, he said it was so loud in the stadium that the person was having trouble hearing him, so he held the play card up to help bounce the sound back to the microphone.

 

Technology has increased so much with background filters on microphones it's not needed as much anymore.

I always thought they did it to help cancel out other noise? Haha
