Funchess return

INDIANAPOLIS — Devin Funchess might have been placed on injured reserve after the first game of the regular season, but he’s remained a part of the Indianapolis Colts’ offensive plans.

And now it could just be a matter of days before the team can start the process of putting those plans to action once again.

The Colts could choose to return Funchess — who went on injured reserve Sept. 10 after undergoing surgery to his clavicle — to practice as soon as next week; if or when he does return to practice, that sets in motion a 21-day timeline the team faces to return the wide receiver to the active roster or revert him to I

He sounds excited to return from his IG stories. Today he posted one of him in game 1 and it said waiting. Sounds like he is ready to return to practice. Nick Foles might be back that game also.

Did I miss it in the article?  It doesn't say anything that Funchess is ready or able to return, just that he can return starting next week.

Nick foles went out the first week with the same injury and is expected to start practicing next week. I think he will be ready for practice next week.

So, is there anything in the articles that talks about Funchess being ready to practice next week?  Sorry but a QB with a similar injury on his non throwing arm doesn't mean much for a WR.

All we can go on  is the recovery time for the injury. He is right in that window. He has been posting stuff on IG where he looks like he is excited to return.  Once he starts practicing they have 21 days to put him on the active roster. Tyreek hill didn’t have surgery on his and returned two weeks ago.

All good points and Hill's injury was not the same... it didn't require surgery, so again has no bearing.  All I'm asking is, is there anything being reported that indicates Funchess is ready to start practicing next week?  And it would appear the answer is no.

All Reich said was he was making good progress. Reich never gives out to much injury info. The surgery is supposed to make healing faster.  He may or may not be back next week. Even if he isn’t healed enough for full contact their is a lot he can do in practice and be limited. Hill was basically catching balls and doing drills before returning to full practice.

    • When we ran the ball 19 out of 20 plays something didn't jive with me. It made me think either JB has no say on the matter or JB wasn't 100%. Nobody runs that ball that much. If I had Emmitt Smith, Jim Brown, and Barry Sanders I wouldn't call 19 run plays out of 20
    • I ran out of likes but YES to both of these
    • If we draft a QB it better be the right one because JB is above average, he isn't a Hoyer or a Painter like some are making him out to be. As a Colts fan I feel bad for JB because we have a fan base that some doesn't like him.
    • He signed a two year contract ,that's to protect Ballard as well.If he's not the answer we can try to get a quarterback.Either through draft or possible trade .
    • Is this a request that JB needs to make (letting him throw and change plays)? This is a serious question. With how much Frank goes on and on about Jacoby being such a great leader, I honestly assumed he would already let JB do these things.  Is the problem Frank holding Brissett back, or Brissett just not being a very good decision maker in the heat of the moment? Again, serious question.   I don’t really get into the QB arguments on here but I do tend to side with those who think Brissett is not the one for us down the stretch. The TV doesn’t always pan out to show you who is or is not open, but I saw several plays in this game and others where I felt he had options to throw the ball and he didn’t. I’m not sure if this is because he was so set on sticking with the original play call, or because he just doesn’t fully have the skills of a decisive game play maker. I feel like Frank would not get upset if JB went out there and changed the play at the line of scrimmage... isn’t that what good leaders have to do at times?   Maybe you are right, they do need to have this specific conversation... just would surprise me if they are just now having this talk this far into the season.  Sorry for the long post
