The next 6 games

Realistically, do you see this team going 5-1 or 4-2 in the next 6 games? Let's take a look at the schedule for the next 10 games.

Vs Falcons - Can't run the ball, defense is solid though, have solid receivers, Ryan will make mistakes and throw interceptions. Home opener though we win

Vs Raiders - Weak defense, especially their secondary; receivers don't put fear anyone, Derek Carr was a flash in the pan in week one, I say we win this game easily

At Chiefs - At Arrowhead where it's tough to play. Nobody has been able to stop Mahomes let alone contain him. Loss

Vs Texans - They always seem to play us tough at Lucas Oil not so much at their place. Home game I'm gonna say we win.

Vs Broncos - Bad offense, defense is still there, and they always play us tough so. We still win this game

At Steelers - No Ben, AB, or Leveon. The Steelers are on the decline right now, and looking at their schedule they could be 2-6 heading into that game. We finally beat the Steelers on the road.

5-1

These are just my predictions guys. Make your own if you wish.

I think it's more illuminating to consider what the keys to each game will be.

Vs ATL:  The big key to the game is keeping Ryan contained.  We lose a shootout, we win a grindout.  If we can impose our will on the ground and wear the Falcons down mentally, this ought to be winnable.

Also this is the home opener so the dome will be hopping.  The Falcons are not a mentally strong team, I expect the pressure of the crowd to create at least a few mistakes.  Home field advantage gives us a win here.

Vs OAK:  Another mentally weak team.  Unless they pull some kind of miracle play or something we ought to be able to chew them up and spit them out.  Our Colts right now are very grindy, mentally weak skill teams are going to have trouble keeping up with the physicality.'

Keys to this game are to play physical, grind up their weak O-line and D-line and for the secondary to play alert and prevent the homer pass.  Do that and this one's in the bag.  Another win at home.

At chiefs:  Our defense is going to be sorely tested here.  Fortunately we have a big underrated advantage -- our pass rush is a lot better than the Chiefs' offensive line right now.  We have as good a chance as anyone in the league to contain Mahomes and keep the game in reach.  We lose a shootout with Mahomes, but if we can contain him like we contained the highly mobile Mariota, and put him on his backsides a few times, we have every chance to pull off the upset at Arrowhead.

The key to the game is to be mentally and physically tough, run the ball, control time of possession, and put pressure on Mahomes and get him on his back a few times.  This is doable.  I think we're dogs, especially on the road, and if I had to pick win or lose, I'd say loss, but if we're as mentally tough as I honestly think we are, this isn't a foregone conclusion.

Vs TEX: The Texans look very mortal, and they'll be coming into our building.  We have the advantage, but they have the talent to make it a fight if we make mistakes.

Key to the game -- put Watson on his butt like everyone else does, get some points on the board early, then pound the rock and kill the clock.  Hopefully picking up a couple more scores on the way to counter any mistakes we make on D  A win against this team will look a lot like our win against TEN.

VS Broncos.  I expect this to be a gimme.  As long as we can get some points on the board against their defense, the Denver offense has been miserable for years now.  Key to the game -- score early.  This should be one of the easiest matchups all year if we can get some early points and keep the Broncos offense off balance

at Steelers:  This one's too far in the future to call effectively, especially with a new young quarterback.  The team will have had weeks to try to put the offense together behind Mason Rudolph, and that kid is talented.  I don't want to try to call this game because there's too many butterflies flapping too many wings for me to see how strong the steelers' roster will be.  If Rudolph adjusts quickly this could be a tough road match.  Or they could collapse like wet tissue paper without their leader on the field.  I just don't know.

So 4 W 1L, 1?.  And I'm enough of an optimist to think we have a puncher's chance to go on the road and shock the Chiefs.

Kansas City is going to lose to somebody.  It may as well be us.  Their defense is still suspect.  We run a ball control offense.  Victory!

If we can run the clock and run the ball like the chargers game we can at least have a chance.  Your right there will be a trap game somewhere. Not they it matters but tyreek Hill will probably miss the game could help some.

I having trouble thinking our secondary can keep up with the Falcons. Especially if Leonard misses the game. One game at a time.

The Falcons are not mentally strong and will be going into our yard to play our team in the home opener.  It's going to be L-O-U-D and that will put some extra mental pressure on a fragile team psyche.  Combine that with the heavy physical grinding style Reich has us play, and I think we can torment the Falcons and keep them off balance most of the night.

Not partiularly impressed with the Falcons' o-line.  If we can get through and escort Ryan to his seat a few times in the first half, we ought to be able to take over the game.

How will we ever be able to stop KCs offense? Ever. That’s a serious question.

Our pass rush is tremendous right now.  How do we stop KC's offense?  By keeping them off balance all night, forcing Mahomes to keep making scrambling athletic throws that will eventually force him to make mistakes.

We just ushered a very mobile quarterback to his seat on the grass 4 times last night.  We did the same to Rivers the week before.  We absolutely can get pressure on Mahomes.  He may be  better at it than most QBs but no quarterback really likes operating under constant pressure.

If we can get to him early, we can grind him down.  Then if we can get some turnovers and win the possession game, we ought to have every chance to put the Chiefs in their place

Basically the same way the Patriots shut them out in the first half of the AFCCG last year.  We've got the talent to do it.  It comes down to execution.

ATL always runs hot or cold. They can be world beaters one week then be totally inept so I'm going W.

Raiders I think we're better then W.

Kc.. To much firepower L.

Hou has allowed their QB to tie a sack record held by Jeff George when he was with us apparently so W.

Broncos..I just hate them so I'm going W.

Pitt was a loss before but I'm not fearing whoever their QB is who threw for 110 yds W.

We could be in good standing in about a month.

I say 4-2 with a total record at midseason of 5-3.

ATL-L

OAK-W

@KC-L

HOU-W

DEN-W

@PITT-W

Which in the South ain't bad.

We can win divisional games as we saw yesterday so we've definitely got a shot at getting in the dance. That's all that matters.

If we do that we could end up with a very good record. Weeks 8-14 only have us playing Watson. Everyone else is mediocre and I think JB is better then all of them but Watson. How did Houston only score 13 points at home to the jags.

I definitely think we can beat the Falcons, Steelers, Texans, Raiders, and Broncos. All have major flaws that we can exploit while we let JB and Mack go to work.

The Chiefs though would be a Herculean effort.

I say (optimistically) 5-1.

Honestly though, I think the only easy game we’ll have all year is at home against Miami. Basically a second bye as it stands right now

Jags D is legit, but their offense should quit.

They should make that their new motto

You have the wrong mindset. You don't stop them. You force them to drive the football. You bend don't break. And you try to steal the ball from them a time or two. Hold them to a field goal or two. Run the ball down their defenses throat and play the type of ball that so many teams played against the Manning era Colts. How do you stop that offense? Unless you catch Manning on a bad night, you don't, you just limit their possession time and make it a dog fight.

By putting Jalen Ramsey on the best receiver in the league all game. And by taking it to an o-line that has given up 10 sacks and 18 qb hits in the first two games...

I think there is pretty much a statistically insignificant chance we win at KC.

I'm certainly not prepared to surrender without a fight.  We aren't used to playing the grinding style of football Reich loves so I can see why fans are skeptical.  The colts fanbase are used to thinking in terms of shootouts.   QB vs QB.  Against Mahomes, with Brissett, we lose a shootout.   But that's not Reich's game, he's a grinder, he runs the ball, he trusts his D, he makes opposing quarterbacks run for their lives.  THAT style can beat the Chiefs

if we can grind it out and keep Mahomes off balance with a physical style of ball, take over the time of possession and execute the run game, just like the Patriots did in the AFCCG< we have every chance to win.

The Pats showed us the formula.  We just have to execute it.

Major head case and no way Ballard is giving up a 1st for him.

If Ballard wants him, he'll give up a 1st. A mid to low first round pick for a top 5 pick corner that happens to be the best in the league. Yeah, ok... The Warren Buffett's of football would take that value every time...

Now. Is he a leader? No. So you don't make him one. You tell him to come in and play his game. Does he fit here? Not really. We took a corner with our first pick this year and we have a prime opportunity to develop him with our #1 corner injured. But if Ballard wanted Ramsey, he'd take him...

Chiefs game is a loss. We aren't  winning  that game unless  Mahomes gets hurt. Even without hill they have Robinson, hardman, watkins, kelce. Can't  see our defense  slowing them down. As for the season out look. Depends on three things. Opening  up playbook to Brissett,  vinatieri  making kicks, health of key defensive  people  like turay

You slow them down by having a 8 min drive like we did in the chargers game.

With their weak run D, and our great pass rush, we're almost purpose built to make a war of any game with teams like the Chiefs and Falcons

We should  have been  able to run on the chiefs last year, but that came out and played like they had the number 1 d. In any case ravens have the chiefs sunday. Ravens love to run. Will see how they fair.
